Dolly Parton has revealed her reimagined rendition of Tom Petty’s song “Southern Accents” for the forthcoming compilation, Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty.
The song features a prologue delivered by the late Tom Petty himself describing how the moment of inspiration that led to “Southern Accents.” Dolly Parton then provides an emotional, stirring rendition of the song, kept at the same balladeer tempo as Petty’s original. She retains much of the song, though she adds a crucial change to the song’s latter third when belting “Yes I’m proud to be what I am/ A southern girl from a southern town/ I ain’t ashamed, I ain’t ashamed, I ain’t ashamed.”

Despite a shuffling performer line-up due to multiple positive tests for Covid-19, the Country Music Association Awards were held on Wednesday at an in-person ceremony at Nashville’s Music City Center.
In the days leading up to the ceremony, four acts — Rascal Flatts, the recently renamed Lady A, Florida Georgia Line and “I Hope You’re Happy Now” singer Lee Brice — were forced to pull out from the show after either being exposed to or testing positive for Covid.
But as they say, the show must go on, and the Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker-hosted ceremony went ahead as planned, honoring some of the biggest names in country music.
Eric Church took home the night’s top prize for Entertainer of the Year, which came up for grabs this year after seven-time winner Garth Brooks took himself out of the running. “It’s time for somebody else to hold that award,...

The 2020 Country Music Association Awards will be presented tonight, November 11. But on “Good Morning America” winners were announced early in two categories: Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year.
SEEFirst-ever Gold Derby Music Awards: Vote for the 2021 Gdma nominations now!
Miranda Lambert claimed the Music Video prize for “Bluebird,” which was directed by Trey Fanjoy (watch it above). This is her second victory in this category, which she previously won in 2010 for “The House That Built Me,” also helmed by Fanjoy. The director has one other CMA victory in his career, for Taylor Swift‘s “Love Story” in 2009.
Perhaps this will be the start of a sweep for Lambert, who is this year’s most nominated artist with seven bids including Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (“Wildcard”) and Female Vocalist of the Year. She’s now also the most nominated female artist in CMA history with 55 total bids.

Plenty of artists have taken to shooting their music videos at home during Covid-19, but for Miranda Lambert, the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic have presented a unique opportunity to flex. In her new music video for “Settling Down,” directed by Trey Fanjoy, Lambert shows off her impressive farm outside of Nashville and her impressively ripped husband, Brendan McLoughlin. Lambert’s horse Gibson and one of her rescue dogs, Delta Dawn, also make appearances.

On September 1 the Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 54th Annual CMA Awards, and Miranda Lambert came out on top with seven bids. That not only makes her the most nominated artist of the year, it makes her the most nominated female artist of all time. Her career haul of 55 noms surpasses former record-holder Reba McEntire, who amassed 50.
Lambert is up for Entertainer of the Year against Eric Church, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Absent is defending champion Garth Brooks, who recently withdrew his name from consideration after winning seven times. Lambert’s additional six bids are for Single of the Year (“Bluebird”), Song of the Year (“Bluebird”), Album of the Year (“Wildcard”), Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year (“Fooled Around and Fell in Love”) and Music Video of the Year (“Bluebird”). That’s every single category she was eligible for.

The nominations for the 54th CMA Awards are out this morning, and they don’t include country music legend Garth Brooks as a nominee for the Entertainer of the Year award.
That’s because Brooks voluntarily disqualified himself in late July, saying that he’s won too many times — seven, to be exact, including last year’s — and wants to give the opportunity to another artist.
It was a tweet from a fan that steered Brooks to the decision.
“It said, ‘Hey, man. This guy, why doesn’t he just step down (and leave) the entertainer for the next generation?’ 100% agree,” he told press according to The Tennessean. “It’s time for somebody else to hold that award.”
That leaves the possibilities open this year to Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Luke Combs and Eric Church. May the best country star win.

As it turns out, Taylor Swift isn’t the only star in Nashville who has a giant birdcage on hand. In her music video for the Wildcard track “Bluebird,” directed by Trey Fanjoy, Miranda Lambert dons blue feathers and sits inside her own aviary stage, surrounded by an audience that looks like it’s plucked straight out of Moulin Rouge! It’s a fitting visual for the song, which pays tribute not only to actual bluebirds, but also to Nashville’s Bluebird Café, a well-known venue for emerging talent and established artists in the city.

Taylor Swift took home the coveted Video of the Year award through her single "Mine" at the 2011 Cmt Music Awards. Although she couldn't attend the event, held at Bridgestone Arena, Nashville on Wednesday night, June 8, due to her Speak Now touring schedule, the 21-year-old country singer still managed to thank her fans via live video stream from Wisconsin where she was doing her concert.
"Oh my gosh, I just want to say 'thank you' and 'hey' to everyone back at the Cmt Awards. I wish I could be there but I am hanging out with 15,000 of my closet friends in Milwaukee," the blond beauty said as her fans screamed out at the background. The Grammy-winning singer also proceeded to thank "all the little kids in the video and the fans who voted."

Closing the celebration night of 2011 Cmt Music Awards on June 8, just before the live duet between Jason Aldean and Ludacris, was the winner announcement of Video of the Year. And the top honor was presented to Taylor Swift who unfortunately couldn't be there because she's in the middle of her tour and is currently in Milwaukee.
Taylor appeared on the nominee longlist along with the likes of Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band. However, only she, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert and Sugarland who made it to the final battle.
The rest of the winners, in addition to the early winners, are Trey Fanjoy, The Band Perry and Blake Shelton. Trey won Video Director of the Year, Band Perry got Nationwide Is on Your Side Award, and Blake grabbed Best Web Video of the Year. That was Perry and Blake's second win.

Miranda Lambert straps her guitar and performs as a house band in a music video for her latest single "Only Prettier". She brings in fellow country music musicians such as Kellie Pickler, Laura Bell Bundy and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott for cameos.
Directed by Trey Fanjoy, the video was shot against a 1950's rockabilly backdrop at a middle school gymnasium in Joelton, Tn. The girls play "two rival cliques of girls" when walking into a high school sock hop, but put aside their difference at the end of the party.
"To me, 'Only Prettier' is an anthem," Lambert said. "It's my own anthem, and I want girls to have their fists in the air singing 'Only Prettier.' It's antagonistic, in a fun way, and I loved the attitude behind it. It kind of fools you, because it's got this really country, laid-back intro, but then it's balls to...
