Katie Taylor (born 2 July 1986) is an Irish sportswoman from Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland who has represented her country at both association football and boxing. Widely-regarded as one of the greatest female boxers of all-time, she is the current undisputed and undefeated women's lightweight world champion.
Taylor is a former Irish, European, and Olympic champion in the 60kg division and is credited with raising the profile of women's boxing worldwide. As the Irish athlete of her generation, she was the flag-bearer for Ireland at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London, England before going on to win the gold medal in the lightweight division.
Hugely popular in Ireland, Katie is also a 3-time winner of the RTÉ Sportsperson of the Year award.
