Miranda Lambert released her seventh studio album Wildcard on Friday, and in one final plug for the LP, the country star appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday night to perform one of her new songs, “Mess With My Head.” The rocking track dispenses with the usual fiddles-and-banjo of country music in favor of a bluesy electric guitar sound, though Lambert did appear in a fringed pink jumpsuit similar to a sparkling Nudie suit.

As The Voice’s Top 8 headed for the stage Monday night, I couldn’t help but think what a weird, weird finale we seemed to be headed for. Not only was Adam Levine’s entire team out of the competition (poor Mari), but Blake Shelton’s team was still five members strong. Now I’m no math whiz, but that suggested to me that it was going to be almost impossible for him to lose Season 16. He basically had five lottery tickets to Adam’s zero, Kelly Clarkson’s one and John Legend’s two.

Who’s scared of big, bad major labels? Cody Johnson, a former professional rodeo competitor and a stalwart of the proudly independent Texas country scene, transitions easily into the heart of the Nashville machine on his new album — fittingly titled Ain’t Nothin’ to It.

Cody Johnson is certain his time has come. The former prison guard and rodeo rider from Huntsville, Texas (pop. 38,000), has earned his chance at country music stardom the hard way, racking up streams and building a fan base as a true-blue independent for more than a decade. Now, with the release of Ain’t Nothin’ to It on Warner Music Nashville, Johnson is eager to show what he can accomplish with the weight of a major label behind him.

Cody Johnson sticks to the basics for a stripped-down acoustic performance of his new song “Fenceposts,” which is due to appear on his upcoming album Ain’t Nothin’ to It.
Stripping things down isn’t necessarily saying much in this case, given that the studio version of “Fenceposts” — which was released back in October — is already an understated recording. Jordan Linn Graham, the Montana newlywed who stood accused of murdering her husband Cody Johnson, pled guilty to second-degree murder on Thursday.
Jordan Linn Graham Pleads Guilty
Graham, 22, changed her plea from not guilty to guilty, accepting a deal in which the prosecution dropped the charge from first to second degree murder. Before the judge accepted the plea, he asked Graham to detail exactly what happened in her husband’s death, reported CNN.
“It was a reckless act," said Graham, who shoved Johnson, 25, over a cliff in Montana's Glacier National Park on July 7, just days after their wedding. “I just pushed. I wasn't thinking of where we were."
The newlyweds had allegedly gotten into a heated argument while hiking through the park. Graham claims she was telling Johnson that she didn’t feel how she should feel after marrying the supposed love of her life. "I wasn't really happy," she told the judge.

After three days of testimony, Jordan Graham pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder for pushing her husband off of a cliff just eight days after their wedding. The deal came in federal court in Missoula, Mont., at lunchtime Thursday, just before her jury was set to hear closing arguments. U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy accepted the plea, but said she first had to tell him the truth. Graham said that she and Cody Johnson were on the Loop Trail in Glacier National Park July 7, arguing over what the defense has referred to as her "wedding blues," when Johnson grabbed her arm.

According to court papers, Jordan Linn Graham, who was charged with Cody Johnson's death on in a federal court, was having "second thoughts about their marriage," the BBC reported.
