Global Screen has sold “Munich ’72,” an Israeli documentary series about the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, has sold to Poland’s Canal+, Italian broadcaster La 7, Spain’s Filmin and Slovenia’s Rtv.
The co-producers, Sipur (formerly Tadmor Entertainment) and Israel’s Channel 8, also announced the executive producing team behind the documentary: Russ McCarroll, Michael Schmidt, Emilio Schenker and Gideon Tadmor for Sipur; Telepool’s Jan Frouman, Julia Weber and Ulrike Schroder; and Hot Channel 8’s Dari Shay, Rinat Klein and Dorit Hessel.
“We saw strong sales momentum for ‘Munich ’72’ heading into Mipcom, and are in advanced negotiations with a number of other buyers that we will be meeting with in Cannes,” Weber, Global Screen’s head of international sales and acquisitions, said. “We expect those deals to be announced very soon.”

History is making another addition to its original programming with an order for a new miniseries, Sons of Liberty. Hot off the continued success of Vikings, and the critical acclaim of other miniseries efforts (like The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys), the network now aims at what looks like a pretty interesting take on the lives of the biggest names of the American Revolution.
It seems as though we’re going for a “no really, they were just actual people,” approach to things, apparently trying to show that these were real men, with real lives and real problems, who threw themselves into something, probably far beyond their expectations. That could be a story worth telling, and there are some great cast members involved. Some audiences may have to be convinced that Ryan Eggold can get them to like him after he so recently got them to hate him on The Blacklist,...

President Obama will introduce night one of History’s six-part event series The World Wars. It will air on three consecutive nights on History and H2 beginning Memorial Day Monday at 9 Pm. The two-time Oscar nominee asserted that the stories that came out of the World Wars were heroic, horrifying and everything in between, and he was ecstatic to lend his voice to History and assist to tell those stories in a very unusual way, the Hollywood Reporter reported.

The series will look at the three decades.

The U.S. adaptation of the iconic BBC car series premiered in November and has averaged the youngest audience ever for a series on History.
