NEW YORK -- Overture Films has tapped John Sinayi as senior vp theatrical distribution, reporting to Kyle Davies, the company's executive vp national distribution.
Sinayi is veteran of New Line, where he oversaw distribution in a host of regions for the company's tentpoles, including The Mask and the Lord of the Rings films.
At Overture, he will be instrumental in helping to release its upcoming slate, which includes the Charlize Theron family drama Sleepwalking and Tom McCarthy's immigrant tale The Visitor in the coming months as well as the Robert De Niro-Al Pacino detective saga Righteous Kill and the Emma Thompson-Dustin Hoffman romance Last Chance Harvey later in the year.
Overture has been in a hiring mode of late. Earlier this month, the John Malone-financed studio brought on marketing veteran Jackson George as executive vp creative advertising.

Overture Films has appointed Rob Springer as senior vp sales operations. Springer will oversee box office research, reporting and analysis. He will implement and run operations of Overture's new theatrical distribution system, reporting to executive vp distribution Kyle Davies. The exec was vp operations at Rentrak International, where he developed the international box office reporting system. Before Rentrak, he served as executive director, sales administration for Paramount Pictures.

The exec will work in conjunction with fellow senior vp theatrical distribution Greg Forston, with Garelik handling Western territories and Forston handling Eastern duties. Garelik reports to executive vp theatrical distribution Kyle Davies in the company's Beverly Hills office.
Garelik served for a year as vp client services at Nielsen EDI, where he worked with domestic theatrical distribution, exhibition and other Nielsen clients. Nielsen EDI is a division of the Nielsen Co., parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
The executive worked for nearly a decade as a branch manager at 20th Century Fox, handling domestic theatrical distribution sales in several territories. Before that, he took on similar duties at Buena Vista Pictures Distribution and Savoy Pictures.
Overture, founded in the fall as a division of Starz Llc., plans additional marketing and distribution hiring announcements in the next few weeks.

Davies will be based at Overture's Beverly Hills headquarters, where he will report to Peter Adee, president of marketing, distribution and new media, who announced the appointment Wednesday. He will be responsible for the company's domestic distribution operations, which are expected to handle eight to 12 films per year.
Davis comes to Overture from Paramount Pictures, where he was senior vp Western division for Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Distribution. He joined Paramount last year when the Melrose Avenue studio acquired DreamWorks, where Davies was senior vp distribution in the central division.
"The changing environment in the theatrical distribution business presents many new challenges and just as many opportunities," Adee said. "We think Kyle's combination of know-how and foresight makes him the perfect person for the job."
