As I noted last week, Unshaven Comics’ trek to Hotlanta for the annual Dragon Con had me face down several fears all at once. As Unshaven Matt Wright was sidelined due to a babysitting emergency, the biggest fear for me was knowing that our terrific trio was reduced to a dingy duo. Beyond that, there was the continual fear that our little shtick will finally reach the point that it doesn’t garner the excitement we count on to close sales. Add that ennui to the more concrete fear that a ten-hour trip in the car while completing the Whole 30 diet – one that forced me to give up everything but lean protein, fruits and vegetables – would make what is normally a doable drive become something more akin to the trek undertaken by a ragtag fellowship of adventurers trying to ditch a silly ring.

Just as The Fast and the Furious “borrowed liberally” from Point Break, so did Dhoom “pay homage” to The Fast and the Furious.
At this point, and I say this as a fan of the series, there is little need to remind anyone that a new Fast & Furious movie is being released. Nor is there any particular need to defend the movies against unjust commercial or critical calumnies; at this point, they are what they are and you either like them or you don’t. So, rather than fond but stale jokes about “family” or lamenting that Daddy Yankee isn’t in the new movie or any of the usual stuff, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce those of you not yet familiar, in time-honored “if you like x, you may like y” tradition, to Bollywood’s Dhoom franchise.

From his very first film Socha Na Tha, through the fabulous Jab We Met, to Cocktail, Rockstar and Highway, director Imtiaz Ali always takes you on an incredible cinematic journey. What makes his movies so very good is that while watching, you get lost in the world he has created on film and live with the characters through the story, the drama, the tears, the love and sometimes the happy ending. As a director he always manages to bring out incredible performances by the actors in his film, many times career-changing performances that truly show what an actor is made of. Think Deepika Padukone in Cocktail, Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, Alia Bhatt in Highway and so many more.
For Tamasha, which stars the incredible jodi of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Mr. Ali turned the focus on a story about life, love and being who you are truly are instead...

It's been almost a year since we saw the revamped art style for Chris Hecker's game of espionage game, one that is relies less on blowing stuff up and more on observing simple behavior.
Many who like what they’ve seen thus far were a tad bit concerned; despite the very blocky aesthetics, the original art style was extremely expressive. As such, some worried that having fine detailed models would be a distraction and basically get in the way.
But thanks to just released videos that shows two of the redesigned characters in motion, all fears can finally be cast aside.
First we have the talk animation for Mr. A. As Hecker explains in hushed tones (not sure if it's in line with the secretive nature of the game, or if he just needs a better mic), the name has yet to be decided upon, plus it...

I’ve noticed lately the fine columnists here at ComicMix are paying tribute to a lovely woman I wish I could have met. It got my wheels turning. I’ve done plenty of moaning, groaning, hyping and griping up until now… but I’ve never paid tribute to those who helped shape me as I am. The desire to tell you all about my family is tempting, but it might be more apropos to give some love to special someone who directly changed the course of my career (and all of the subsequent creative endeavors). But enough preamble, eh? I want to pay homage to an amazing educator and mentor… Dean Auriemma.
Mr. Auriemma, or just Mr. A, was my high school art teacher for my sophomore and senior year in high school. Unlike your stereotypical art educator you might think of, he taught those willing to learn that art...

Today we are changing it up a bit by aiming our focus on a Grammy-winning popfolk sensation who has created quite an impressive catalog of songs in his decade in the spotlight - some of his best work in live shows in lieu of studio albums, making him an ideal fit for this particularly performance-based column - the geek in the pink himself, Mr. Jason Mraz. This week marks the release of his new Ep, titled Live Is A Four Letter Word, which acts as the appetizer to his much-awaited follow-up to the incredibly successful We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things - which featured his biggest hit to date, Im Yours along with the Grammy-winning Best Pop Duet, Lucky, which was also featured on Season Two of Glee - Love Is A Four Letter Word. Four letters or more, Mraz proves time and time again he is a master storyteller with an unmistakable,...

We have an example of how awesome Stan Lee is (not that you would need another one), thanks to The Marvel Age of Comics (via Blastr). This lengthy letter from 1963 shows how much he likes fans and reveals some new details about Dr. Strange - like the fact that he did not always have a Ph.D.
The letter was written in response to a letter from fan Dr. Jerry Bails, is dated January 9, 1963, and includes the Madison Avenue mailing address for Lee's office at Marvel. Unfortunately, we don't have Bails' letter, but based on Lee's response, it looks as though he was critical of Marvel's art process. Bail seems to have called out Marvel's chief artist at the time—the great Jack Kirby. Kirby often would start strips and then pass them off to other artists to be finished, which often caused quality issues. Here is the description from...

Ar Rahman made news with his latest compositions in the film Ek Deewana Tha, however an excess of anything can spell doom, and the same is the case with the track 'Hosanna' which has been making waves in the music world. The music track is popular and it seems to grow in popularity with each passing day, the Christian Secular Forum (Csf) in Mumbai has objected to the use of the word .Hosanna.. They claim the word to be a sacred term used only within prayer songs among Christians and Jews.We are very proud to once again associate with Mr. A. R. Rahman and Javed Sahab for the music score and lyrics of our film Ekk Deewanna Tha which releases on the 17th of February. The Tamil and Telegu versions of the film (which too were directed by Gautham Menon) were released in 2010 in which the same song which is currently in the news,...

Bollywood is getting hotter by the day. Actors are hitting the gym even at wee hours of the morning just to stay in shape. Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of the most drool-worthy bodies that Bollywood has seen in 2011. This should motivate some of us lazy people (myself included) to get back on track after a long holiday break.
Hrithik Roshan (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara)
Hrithik, of course, has made it on our list every year. His perfect chiseled looks made many a heart flutter in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which was an instant hit. Remember the first look of the movie and the Tomatina Festival? Last year a wax statue of the hottie was added to Madam Tussaud’s museum in London, which features a bare-chested Mr. A aka Aryan in the hit movie Dhoom 2. That was not all for Greek God Hrithik Roshan. He also went on...

Chicago – Michael Goldbach’s little-seen quirk-fest is a feature filmmaking debut like many others. It feels less like a final draft than an overcrowded sketchpad. There seems to be no end to the amount of intriguing ideas that Goldbach wishes to tackle, but he has little idea of how to string them together. His various stylistic conceits distract from the narrative rather than enhance it, resulting in an ungainly picture.
Luckily, “Daydream Nation” is blessed with two young leads so appealing and authentic that they make viewers forget the film’s sizable flaws for long passages of its running time. Kat Dennings has spent the last few years being tossed from one so-so vehicle to another, but she always emerges unscathed, thanks to her self-deprecating charm and unshakable charisma. She deserves to be a star in the same league as Emma Stone, as does her co-star Reece Thompson, still best...

Two and a half years ago it could fairly be said as late as daybreak on Christmas morning that Frank Miller was among the best-known comic book artists in the English-speaking world. This was due, in no small part, to a pair of strikingly popular movie adaptations of his work: 2005’s Sin City, which Miller co-directed with Robert Rodriguez, and 2007’s 300, directed by Zack Snyder. Both of these films arrived during a particularly fertile period for “comic book” movies—one arguably not quite yet exhausted—by which I mean relatively orthodox action films plugged into recognizable brands with ready-made potential for lucrative sequel and merchandizing opportunities.
Some might argue that “superhero” movies would be a more accurate term; I’d agree, but it still wouldn’t be quite exact. To my mind, the popularity of these pictures comes less from a heretofore veiled public desire for comic book subgenre particulars...

If there’s one thing that’s being talked about the most with respect to Tees Maar Khan - apart from Sheila Ki Jawani of course! - is the train robbery scene which forms the climax of the movie. Apparently, more than 75 lakhs were spent on building the train. In case, you are among the few who still don’t know about this grand train sequence, then here’s the scoop. The biggest heist of Mr. Tees Maar Khan’s life will be carried out in a moving train! However, if we take a look at Bollywood history there are some pretty popular movies which already have ‘been-there-done-that’! Before Tmk starts carrying out his train heist from tomorrow, here’s a quick look at some of Bollywood’s train robbery sequences.
1. Dhoom 2
It would be a crime if this movie is not mentioned (besides, I think Hrithik fans would never forgive us!

This Friday will see the return of one of Bollywood fan's favorite jodis when Guzaarish, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opens in theaters. The early buzz is that the duo has created magic on screen in their roles of Ethan and Sofia in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film. We thought in honor of the film's release we would take a look at some of the best scenes between the reel couple and then because we wanted to, and knew you, our dear readers, would enjoy it, we also decided to list some of the highlights from their separate films.
Hrithik and Aishwarya's Magical Jodi
Before Guzaarish, the Aishwarya and Hrithik jodi has made jadoo on screen in two films, and they could not be any more polar opposite. First there was Dhoom 2 in 2006, Hrithik and Aishwarya were in their modern avatars as Mr. A and 'are you like checkin me out' Sunheri.

Police confirmed Thursday that Hug's body was discovered in the San Bernardino National Forest. Other than saying no foul play was suspected, authorities have released little additional information. On any given day, this space is usually reserved for some sort of commemoration of an important moment in music history, be it an ascension to the top of the charts, a concert debut or an album release. Sometimes there are memorable sports moments that need to be honored, and occasionally there is the odd historical fact that needs to sneak in. But since there's no real historical excitement today (it's difficult to get wound up about the resignation of Winston Churchill) nor any particularly significant musical milestone (there isn't very much to say about the release of Jason Mraz's Mr. A-Z), so with that in mind, let's talk about "Mad Men," the best show on television (sorry, "True Blood," "Breaking Bad" and "Burn Notice," whatever you are) that saw its fourth season premiere on Sunday night (July 25) on AMC.

Readers, I apologize on behalf of comics this week. Not a whole lot of good new stuff (save Forgetless) is coming out this week, so my selections for this week’s installment were a struggle. To make matters worse, this will be the last installment of the year because I’ll soon be on vacation and I don’t want to have to do sh*t when I’m supposed to be loungin’.
Don’t worry, I’m mean to return from vacation on January 3rd. So expect more opinionated rambling then.
Since this column is more pessimistic than usual, here are the things I liked this year.
Best New Series: Chew, featuring a totally bizarre premise that no TV network would touch. Let’s wait for Cinemax to prove me wrong.
Best Collected Edition: Final Crisis hardcover by Grant Morrison, J.G. Jones, Doug Mahnke & Others. Morrison uses the good vs.

An Interview With Jason Mraz In the few short years following the release of Jason Mraz's 2002 debut album Waiting For My Rocket To Come, the young San Diego singer-songwriter has had the longest running hit on Billboard's Pop Singles chart ("I'm Yours," 70 weeks), has become a Grammy award-winner, has earned a Songwriters Hall Of Fame trophy, has opened for The Rolling Stones, and, most importantly, has been immortalized by American Idol contestant Chris Richardson for his read of Mr. A-Z's "Geek In The Pink." Though these great achievements say much about the artist, he had a bit more to add about all things Mrazworld... Mike Ragogna: With all your recent success and popularity, apparently, everyone has one important, burning question. What's up at the avocado farm? Jason Mraz: Avocado farm's good, man.
