With entire seasons available for viewing in one giant gulp and new, prestigious shows premiering throughout the year, the time has come for a conference that moves as fast as television itself. Now in its fifth year, University of Texas students and faculty are bringing the Flow Conference to Austin Sept. 11–13. Designed as a series of roundtable discussions connecting the past, present, and future of television and television studies, this year’s speakers include four-time Emmy winner and director-writer-producer David Milch (“Deadwood”); “Veronica Mars” writer-producer Rob Thomas; former Los Angeles Times television critic Howard Rosenberg; director-producer Michael Zinberg; and representatives from CBS, Lionsgate Television, and Microsoft Xbox Entertainment Studios. Faculty from various universities including Nyu, Northwestern, Stony Brook University, University of Michigan, and Brown University will also be in attendance. “This year we’re doing something new with that slate of special guests for our core conversations,” conference coordinator Charlotte Howell told Backstage.
