Tristan Prettyman is a singer-songwriter and former "Roxy" model from
San Diego, California. She is signed to Virgin Records, released her
first major label album, "t w e n t y t h r e e", on August 2, 2005 and
is promoting her sophomore album "Hello...x", which was released on
April 25, 2008.
Taking advantage of the town's proximity to the ocean, she took surfing
as an elective at her junior high at the age of 12. She competed in the
National Scholastic Surfing Association High School Division and earned
fifth place in the state title while still in middle school.
She took a liking to the music of
Ani DiFranco,
Joni Mitchell,
Jack Johnson, and her father's old
acoustic guitar allowed Tristan the chance to learn an instrument and
hone her songwriting skills.
She began playing in clubs and bars throughout San Diego County before
being invited to join fellow San Diegan,
Jason Mraz, on his national tour. The two
dated and split up in 2006.
