“To me, my X-Men” yelled Cyclops as he cemented his role as the leader of the X-Men. Well, at least, that’s what happened in the comic books and X-Men ’97. Having almost a central figure authority in the recently released animated show, the character of Cyclops has been getting much love and fame from around the world.
And that is how things were supposed to be before the live-action movies came into existence. Marvel President Kevin Feige made sure not to repeat the mistake that Fox Studios did in their live-action films which was one of the factors for the later decline of popularity of the X-Men films!

The Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool & Wolverine is gearing up for release in July of this year. The film would be the sole MCU theatrical release of the year and would formally introduce the X-Men into the MCU. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and a host of other characters from Fox Studios’ Marvel entries are confirmed to appear in the film.
Recently, popular scooper Can We Get Some Toast reported that the majority of the film would be taking place in The Void, a space that was introduced in Loki. The teaser of the film indicated that the film would be a multiversal story with Deadpool going to different timelines. The scooper also mentioned how this direction was vastly different from the original script for the film, which reportedly took place during the original X-Men trilogy.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
“They shall know my Inferno!” cries the Goblin Queen early in X-Men ’97‘s third episode. Now, the Goblin Queen has had a rough day, which began with her thinking that she was the real Jean Grey and ended with the revelation that she was a clone created by evil (but fashionable) geneticist Mr. Sinister. Her heel turn came so quick that she really didn’t have time to workshop her villain monologues.
Whatever the shortcomings in her baddie banter, the Goblin Queen makes up for it with evil powers. She immediately begins transforming the X-Mansion into a Hellscape, complete with a giant head in an elevator and a vision of Xavier as a monster from the anime classic Akira. Wild as these transformations are, they have nothing on the comic book storyline that inspired it.

After spending years as a respected leader of the sovereign mutant nation Krakoa, Cyclops is back on the run. With Krakoa destroyed and humanity ready to oppress mutants again, Cyclops has gone back home to Alaska to refresh and regroup.
And yet, things have never been better for Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. The upcoming From the Ashes relaunch will force the X-Men back into the world after the end of Krakoa in the Fall of X storyline, with a new X-Men book with Cyclops in the lead.
“We wanted to start with Cyclops and wanted to bring him back to Alaska,” X-Men writer Jed MacKay tells Den of Geek during an exclusive interview at SXSW. “And from there we started thinking what his mission would be moving forward because he’s Cyclops, he always has the mission.”

Even though the "X-Men '97" animated series won't hit Disney+ until 2024, that hasn't stopped Hasbro from releasing action figures tied to the continuation of the beloved Saturday morning cartoon from the 1990s. The first wave of "X-Men '97" action figures from the Marvel Legends roster at Hasbro included all the usual suspects: Wolverine, Storm, Gambit, Rogue, Bishop, and Magneto. But as any "X-Men: The Animated Series" fan will tell you, there are plenty more main characters missing from that line-up.
Thankfully, the second wave of "X-Men '97" Marvel Legends figures revealed by Hasbro this week will help complete the main X-Men team, and it also brings some new villains to the table, alongside a revamped version of Magneto, who won't be the main antagonist of the new series. Check out the new "X-Men '97" action figures and get some new character details below.

We can admit it now. The Marvels bombed.
Marvel has had some misfires before, but they usually happened only on the critical end. Audiences still rushed to see panned flicks like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Thor: Love & Thunder. But with The Marvels, audiences and critics came together to express their dissatisfaction. No one thing explains the problems. Like its predecessor Captain Marvel, bad faith reviews flooded the internet with people mad about lady superheroes, but numerous, and legitimate, other culprits led to the downfall: from superhero fatigue to a nonsense story combined with obnoxious editing, to separation from the larger shared universe.
In short, The Marvels comes at a key point in the MCU experiment, one whose failures and successes illuminate the way forward for the company. But rest assured, there is a way forward, and we have a few of our own silly ideas about how to navigate that.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for "The Marvels."
"The Marvels" has finally arrived, and it may well be the last Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to grace our screens for a good while. "Deadpool 3" is next up but, due to the historic Screen Actors Guild strike (which finally just ended), it lost its release date. That means the adventures of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan will have to hold us over for a little while. Fortunately, for Marvel fans, the movie left us with much to discuss -- particularly that wild mid-credits scene. You wanted the X-Men? We're getting the X-Men.
Without doing a full deep dive into the scene itself, rather briefly, it involves Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) waking up in another dimension where she meets someone who looks very much like her mom -- once again played by Lashana Lynch -- but who is not actually her mom.

A teenage girl excuses herself from a family activity in the living room. When she gets to the bathroom, she discovers that she has begun puberty, a confusing and frightening situation for anyone. But matters get worse when the girl realizes she can control her blood, making it fly and move in the air.
When her loving mother, concerned that she’s experiencing the normal bodily changes of a young woman, knocks on the door, the girl freaks out. She sends a glob of blood at her mother, slicing her throat. When her father rushes in and asks what happened, the girl panics again and uses blood to kill her father. The scene ends with the girl huddled in the corner, terrified of what she’s become.

ESPN’s “Toy Story”-themed alternative live stream of Sunday’s Jaguars-Falcons game was incredibly ambitious, and it showed early on in the form of technical issues.
The stream was available on both Disney+ and ESPN+. That is, if you could get in. I was able to log in on my second or third try after fully restarting my TV; a colleague gave up after five minutes of continuous trying. Those who joined halfway (or more) through the first quarter probably had the best viewer experience.
Ball-tracking was the first noticeable challenge and the most consistent issue throughout the game. At times, the football would just appear on random spots of the carpet (field) or slide around the playing surface on its own. Sometimes The Claw, playing the role of umpire in Andy’s room, never even spotted the ball at the line of scrimmage.
Catches were occasionally presented as drops,...

Updated with Cotton Eyed Joe statement: Oliver Anthony is having none of it.
The singer behind the left-field chart-topper “Rich Men North of Richmond” said on social media that he has scrapped a September 27 concert in Tennessee because of the high ticket prices.
“Cotton Eyed Joe has been cancelled,” he wrote this week on Facebook, referring to the Knoxville venue he’d been set to play. “Ultimately, it’s my fault for not being more directly involved with the venues who have reached out.”
Tickets to the show were listed at $99, with a meet-and-greet for fans pegged at $199.
His post followed an earlier one in which he wrote: “I apologize for the price at Cotton Eyed Joe. Have a friend of mine trying to help me book gigs. I told him I don’t want to do anything that’s more than $40 a ticket, ideally no more than $25 a piece.

Nobody knows quite how Deadpool ended up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or rather Everyone knows how the merc with a mouth made it to Marvel on a corporate level – Disney bought 20th Century Fox – but we are yet to find out how the writing room crew are going to wrestle this one out in creative terms. Does Ryan Reynolds’s mischievous hero simply arrive fully formed from an alternate reality where everyone swears a lot more than they did in Thor: Ragnarok, and there is considerably more nudity, breaking of the fourth wall and hardcore violence? Will our chimichanga-munching antihero be forced to tone it all down a bit in the forthcoming Deadpool 3 alongside the returning Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Or will...

Wes Anderson has done it all: India by train, Rhode Island by foot, the Mediterranean by sub, France by bike, faux-Germany by hotel, apple-orchard America by fox, animated Japan by dog, motel Texas by friends, New York City by family. But––despite the feeling that this couldn’t possibly be true––he’s never told a story in western America. In setting he hasn’t gone further west than Houston. Until Asteroid City: Arizona desert by quarantine. – Luke H. (full review)

Netflix has officially confirmed the upcoming third season of Sweet Tooth will be the show’s final season. Season two launched on April 27, 2023 and season three could arrive as soon as 2024, given that it’s already finished filming and won’t be impacted by the writers’ strike.

The sweetest little deer boy in all of the post-apocalyptic U.S. is returning to Netflix this month. "Sweet Tooth," based on the comic series of the same name by Jeff Lemire, debuted in 2021, telling an eerily topical story about humanity in the wake of a deadly pandemic. Around the same time that "The Sick" (also known as the H5G9 virus) emerged, children began to be born as human-animal hybrids. While these children were blamed for the sickness and hunted down by a citizen militia called the Last Men, Gus (Christian Convery) was hidden away from the world by his father (Will Forte), until the day his "Pubba" was killed and Gus wandered out into the world with a new guardian: former militiaman Tommy "Big Man" Jepperd (Nonso Anozie).
When we last saw him at the end of "Sweet Tooth" season 1, Gus and his hybrid animal-children friends had been...

Evangeline Lilly has heard your demands for an A-Force movie from Marvel Studios, and she's happy to comply. The "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" star is set to return to the big screen as Hope van Dyne, a.k.a. The Wasp, this February, kicking off Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a big little movie that is said to be "central to the future of the MCU." In Phase Four, we saw Marvel putting out more women-led movies and streaming shows, such as "Black Widow," "Ms. Marvel," and "She-Hulk," and given that She-Hulk is the leader of the all-female A-Force team in Marvel Comics, speculation has run rampant that the studio might be building toward an A-Force movie somewhere down the line.

It’s easy to anticipate the idea that people believe that Mera will knock Storm for a loop if they were to meet face-to-face in a fight, especially since Mera’s strength and durability are typical for what would be seen in an Atlantean, meaning that she’s more than a match for one of the X-Men’s most powerful members. But much like other combatants who are strong and capable but are outmatched in terms of strength and speed, Storm has learned how to adapt her fighting style to gain the advantage needed in a fight. Mera is a super-powered individual that can

Ethan Peck's first professional acting credit came in 1995 with an appearance on the short-lived ABC crime drama "Charlie Grace" with Mark Harmon and Leelee Sobieski. He was nine. At age 13, he appeared in the Olson Twins vehicle "Passport to Paris" before landing a notable gig as the young Kelso in flashback scenes on "That '70s Show." This would only be the first time Peck would play a "legacy" character. In addition to Kelso, Peck inherited the role of Patrick Verona from Heath Ledger in the TV adaptation of "10 Things I Hate About You."
The most notable legacy character in Peck's career to date has, of course, been Spock from "Star Trek," a role he inherited from Leonard Nimoy. Peck's version of Spock fills out the character's backstory for the decade immediately prior to the events of the original series, wherein audiences learned that he had a long lost...

This article contains House of the Dragon spoilers through episode 3.
Nobody is saying that absolute monarchy is perfect. Gods know that Westeros could benefit from some elections here and there. But for thousands of years in the continuity of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, the Seven Kingdoms has got along just fine with its succession of kings and noble figures.
Sure you get a Mad King Aerys or a Maegor the Cruel here or there, but for the most part the Targaryen dynasty (and the smaller petty kings across the seven kingdoms that predated Aegon’s Conquest) have kept things in line. That’s because like any good king, most Targaryens know they can’t do it alone. Every Targaryen monarch since Aegon I himself have instituted a Small Council to help them with the day-to-day responsibilities of governing a whole continent.

This Rings of Power review contains no spoilers and is based on the first two episodes.
The most expensive television series of all time is finally about to premiere – but was it worth all that money?
Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power certainly looks the part. The series is visually stunning, from the set design to the costumes to the very high quality special effects. One of the biggest advantages of this no-expense-spared approach is that it makes the series feel like it genuinely belongs in the same world as the big-budget Peter Jackson movies based on The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
This new series is set during the Second Age of Tolkien’s invented mythology. This means that, although it’s a prequel to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, set many centuries earlier, we still need to...

When Wolfgang Petersen burst onto the scene with his WWII submarine masterpiece "Das Boot," Hollywood came calling. Any director who could pin audiences to their seats for two-and-a-half hours with a film that rarely leaves the interior of a U-boat surely had the skills to enthrall viewers with a mainstream blockbuster. While Petersen proved more than reliable with smashes like "In the Line of Fire," "Outbreak," "Air Force One," and "The Perfect Storm," he occasionally found himself attached to ambitious projects that, for one reason or another, failed to launch or launched without him at the helm.
Petersen, who died on August 12, 2022, at the age of 81, left behind a litany of what-ifs. He was in the mix on several tantalizing projects that could've changed the complexion of superhero and YA filmmaking; there's an alternate universe in which Petersen revived the DC universe with a Batman and Superman mash-up in the early 2000s.
