"Don't Feed the Monkeys," that is what the poster for David R. Ellis' (Snakes on a Plane) latest says. War Monkeys is currently in development from Intandem Films and the story involves several gun carrying apes released from a military research facility. No, this is not Planet of the Apes, but a film which focuses more on the comedy. Cast is also still in development. However, those interested in deadly monkeys can have an early look at the film's synopsis below.
The synopsis for War Monkeys:
"Following the mothballing of a secret Us Government Experiment, an incompetent Janitor, Walter, accidentally unleashes a platoon of military trained – and very angry - monkeys from an animal containment lab run by the sadistic Dr. Orkenstein. Mayhem ensues and soon Walter and a platoon of elite soldiers sent in to control the situation, are in a race for their lives against an...

My homeboy Robert Sanchez (I have homies. I do. I swear.) over at IESB got himself involved in a horror production with Shocktillyoudrop's Ryan Rotten for a new retelling of the Frankenstein legend called I, Frankenstein. Of course, my feelings are hurt since I wasn't asked to be involved in the production. Vatos Locos forever! Remember that Robert?? We got our placas together when we took out those punks Tres Puntos! The Hollywood Reporter has more:Lakeshore, the production-financing outfit behind the “Underworld” movie series, is readying what it hopes will be its next action-horror franchise, “I, Frankenstein.” The company has preemptively picked up the script for the comic book adaptation from Death Ray Films, which began developing the project in April. The project has “Underworld” roots. It’s based on a comic from “Underworld” co-creator Kevin Grevioux, who wrote the script for “Frankenstein,” and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” helmer...

Kevin Grevioux is a name whom most Underworld fans will be instantly acquainted with. The big man had a hand in writing each of the films as well as playing the role of recurring character Raze the Lycan. There's no doubt Kevin kicked ass both on and off screen in those films, but it's his latest project that he wrote called I, Frankenstein that has us most excited!
Recently I sat down with Grevioux to get the scoop and, man, was he ready to dish it.
"I've always loved Frankenstein," Grevioux tells Dread Central. "But what I really want to do is to take the classic monsters of lore that I loved as a kid and try to spin them on their heads and twist them around a little bit to give them a new life. Just like I did with Underworld, I thought to myself, 'What haven't we seen before?...

One could easily say that what most films these days are missing is a caped zombie luchador. Luckily, there is one upcoming film in which that will not be the case. Kevin Munroe's 2005 graphic novel, El Zombo Fantasma is about to be made into a movie. Munroe himself will direct and his production company, Death Ray Films is set to fund the flick. Kevin Munroe has been busy, getting his hands into the movie industry. The comic book author recently created his production company, Death Ray Films, with Chris Patton and Robert Sanchez, whom you may know as the proprietor of IESB. Munroe is already directing the upcoming comic adaptations, War Monkeys and Dead of Night. Although fairly new to movies, it seems that the author has not strayed too far from his geeky past. Now, another first for Munroe: one of his comics is being made into a flick.

Kevin Munroe, the director of Tmnt and the upcoming Dylan Dog adaptation, Dead of Night, started talking about another high-concept project he’s working on with Dark Horse recently called War Monkeys. THR reports that the project is gearing up for an early 2009 start.
War Monkeys is a horror/comedy about two janitors who get stuck in an underground research facility over the Christmas holiday and have to deal with military-trained Rhesus monkeys, which sounds like it’d be very cute but is likely quite terrifying.
Veteran Hong Kong actor Sammo Hung is in talks to star as one of the janitors. The script was penned by Christ Nettles, who got the story from Dark Horse Films’ Chris Patton. The monkeys will be pulled off with a combination of real, animatronics and CG simians. Pretty ambitious for a Dark Horse project!
