Vincent Rodriguez is making history on the Hallmark Channel!
The actor, who you’d also know from Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Insatiable, is starring alongside Jonathan Bennett in the new Christmas movie Christmas on Cherry Lane.
The movie, which is part of the channel’s Countdown to Christmas special, highlights the pair as they take an exciting new step in their relationship. They’re bringing a queer story to the channel, and Vincent is one of the first out gay Filipino actors to star on the network.
We’ll be seeing him and Jonathan together when the movie premieres on Saturday (December 9) at 8pm Et. But you might be wondering if Vincent is with anyone in real life. As a matter of fact, he’s married to Gregory Wright!

Finally, an episode that shows Magnum and the gang moving forward.
For the first time in a couple of episodes, Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 8 embraced the hit-squad storyline, as it should be.
Thomas chased their only weak lead, the elusive harbormaster T.C. had asked about Greene, to a marina in San Diego. What an obvious place for a harbormaster to hide out!
Granted, Lewis Peele was a reasonably weak lead, knowing precious little about who hired him. "Brown hair" wasn't much of a description to go on.
And why didn't Magnum bring Higgins along for backup? He lucked out that the hit squad leader likely hadn't given Peele a second thought since his last call.
But Thomas couldn't have known that to be the case. Peele was a loose end that needed tying up. And he was stupid enough to use an Atm near where he was hiding,...

The gang should know by now to avoid helping Rick's sketchy friends with favors.
But instead, they had to learn another hard lesson on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 3.
Blame Juliet. She should know better than to do Rick a favor without understanding what it is and who it's for. She's smarter than that.
But she and Magnum need Rick and his contacts. If that means accepting cases sight unseen, so be it.
This outing would turn out to be one of those cases, although Higgins' radar had to be on after Rick described his liquor distributor Kona as dodgy.
Higgins learned from Rick, Magnum's temporary housemate, that he had determined that Thomas was seeing someone. Fortunately, the former spy resisted blurting out that she was that someone.
Then Juliet was troubled when Rick described Magnum as a hopeless romantic who goes into relationships too hard and is often disappointed.

Get in touch to send in cinephile news and discoveries. For daily updates follow us @NotebookMUBI.NEWSAbove: Monte Hellman and his dog Kona. Monte Hellman, cult director of The Shooting (1966), Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) and Road to Nowhere (2010) has died. Hellman spoke with Notebook on several occasions about his films, decrying the committee-designed quality of new films while staying true to his own long-held principles: "I am aware of continually breaking rules." Léos Carax's first English-language film, the musical Annette, will be opening the 74th Cannes Film Festival on July 6th. The film will simultaneously be released in French cinemas. Two other Cannes titles have also been announced, having been selected for last year's postponed edition of the festival: Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch and Paul Verhoeven's Benedetta. Steven Soderbergh is undertaking the overwhelming creative task of staging this year's Oscars ceremony. As Soderbergh says, the project is "the walking...

Last March, confronted with a pandemic none of us had expected or understood, many people found themselves rewatching Steven Soderberg’s Contagion. Whether out of morbid fascination or as a guideline to what we might see in the future it quickly topped charts on streaming services. A year on and another pandemic movie has made it into Netflix’s top 10 – 2007’s I Am Legend, a horror sci-fi starring Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville, who thinks he’s the last man on Earth after a virus has wiped out most of the population. Directed by Francis Lawrence, who would go on to make the Hunger Games sequels, a new adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel had been in the works at Warner Bros. since the mid ‘90s, with various talent attached, including Ridley Scott and Michael Bay as directors and Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger to star.

Welcome to this week’s Nxt UK review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have four matches, which is good. Yeah, don’t expect much excitement from me this time. I fell asleep on my toaster. I’ll let you figure out what that means.
Match #1: Trent Seven def. Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Prior to his match against Trent Seven, Nxt’s Kona Reeves got on the mic in order to insult both the Nxt UK brand and The Artful Dodger. When words turned to action, Seven defended the honor of both himself and his brand when he overcame Reeves with the Burning Hammer. However, as he exchanged high-fives with the WWE Universe at ringside after the bell, someone suddenly grabbed his hand and didn’t let go. That man was a smiling Eddie Dennis, returning to the view of...

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have two matches. Yeah, this might not go the way I hope it does. That being said, there’s always a chance it gets good. Okay, let’s rock.
Match #1: Keith Lee def. Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Keith Lee is a tough man to keep down. Just ask Kona Reeves. Recognizing that his win-loss record has been anything but Nxt’s “Finest” of late, Reeves pulled out all the stops to try to derail The Limitless Superstar and get himself back on track, and he almost succeeded. Reeves resorted to skullduggery, feigning an injury to initially gain control, and displayed relentless determination as he kept the 320-pounder grounded for much of the bout.
The combination of aggressive physicality and ring savvy would put away most men, but Lee,...

The Twinkie factory will provide this post-apocalyptic world with the nourishment it needs. Fat ol’ husband walkin’ ovoyyyyyyyyyah! Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot…
Match #1: Kassius Ohno def. Kona Reeves The following is courtesy of WWE.com:
The Knockout Artist, who has been decrying the lack of big opportunities to come his way in recent months, defeated one of his toughest challenges of late, “The Finest” Kona Reeves, in a supremely hard-hitting duel. Though Reeves talked plenty of trash throughout the match, even taunting Ohno with claims that “no one cares about you,” Ohno was dangerously focused. The Finest found that out after Ohno escaped Reeves’ Hawaiian Drop and hammered him with...

Here is this week’s WWE Nxt review for Wednesday June 27th 2018:
Match #1: Kona Reeves beat Max Humberto
This was a quick squash that made Kona look like the wrong guy to meet in a dark alley. Kona seems to grow more self-assured, more aggressive and more dangerous each time he competes between the yellow ropes.
Match #2: Candice LeRae beat Lacey Evans – Women’s Match
Evans got to have the control over the match for most of the time, LeRae was the star here and every-one knew it. It will be interesting to see how often LeRae and her spouse, Johnny Gargano, will team on Nxt events, considering the obvious chemistry they would have. Any-way, LeRae looked good here and Evans wasn’t that far behind.
Match #3: Mustache Mountain versus Dave Nixon and Carl Axelrod was non-start
The Undisputed Era beat the drawing potential out of...

An impressive follow-up to his strikingly eccentric debut, <em>Of Horses and Men</em>, Icelandic auteur Benedikt Erlingsson's second feature-length fiction, <em>Woman at War</em> (<em>Kona fer i strid</em>), is another skillfully crafted, surreally told tale of man and nature — or in this case, woman and <em>autre</em> — but one with more emotional depth and sharper political undertones.
Starring Halldora Geirharosdottir as an ecological "terrorist" who sabotages her country's power grid in order to preserve its breathtaking landscapes, the film starts off on rather playful footing but gradually builds into something more thrilling, and moving, as our heroine goes on the run ...
