Shannon Roberts is a ballerina with the San Francisco Ballet. As a
native from South Lake Tahoe she trained in the Reno Tahoe area before
moving to San Francisco to train with the San Francisco Ballet School
on a full merit scholarship in 2002. Shannon Joined the San Francisco
Ballet Company in 2004 at the age of 16. She has worked with world
renowned Choreographers including Helgi Tomasson, Paul Taylor, Mark
Morris,Christopher Wheeldon, John Nuemeier, William Forsythe, David
Bintley, Yuri Possokhov, James Kudelka, Val Caniparoli, Edward Liang,
and has danced numerous roles in ballets by Agnes De Mille, Jerome
Robbins, and George Balanchine. She has danced all over the world
including France, Iceland, China, Denmark and the United States.
Shannon has both Classical and Balanchine training and is well rounded
in Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, and Character dancing. In 2008,
Shannon Performed Anita is West Side Story Suite and received
outstanding reviews from critics and praise from Rita Moreno herself.
She was nominated for an Isadora Duncan award for best individual
performance 2008 for that role. She has been vocally trained by Elaine
Overholt and continues and enjoys singing. Shannon is a very
accomplished composer, singer, songwriter on the piano, and enjoys
playing the drums. She has been acting since she was 11 and is
continuously expanding her knowledge in the art of acting by taking
classes at ACT. Shannon starred in the short film 'Prima' that will
premiere at the 2012 TriBeCa film Festival.
