Sting and Melody Gardot narrate a casual fling on their new song, “Little Something,” from Gardot’s newly announced upcoming album Sunset in the Blue.
On the duet, backed by Spanish guitar, Sting and Gardot describe a no-strings-attached relationship — “Don’t call me lover/stop thinking ’bout it, thinking ’bout it” — but one with plenty of passion nonetheless. The song was created with Sting’s long-time guitarist Dominic Miller and with French producer Jen Jis.

The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the Harry Potter films, Star Wars, Avengers: Endgame – Abbey Road Studios has been a part of them all, staying at the center of the world’s culture since it first opened on Nov. 12, 1931 as one of the first buildings devoted to sound recordings.
But like many businesses, the recordings studio couldn’t fight the spread of disease, and so on March 24, it shut down, per UK government protocols. Now, 10 weeks later, activity has returned to the famous house in St John’s Wood, welcoming back the creative community for recording and mastering.
First session at the revived Abbey Road was by Decca Records jazz artist Melody Gardot, who was set to record with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra when the Covid-19 restrictions came into place and the session canceled. But Abbey Road was able to create a safe environment for...

Emmett Till was murdered 60 years ago, an event that continues to resonate for singer Melody Gardot, among others, in her new song “Preacherman.” A video for the tune premieres today on Speakeasy. The black-and-white clip starts with two minutes of exposition as a pair of children walk through a field, cane poles on their shoulders, under a foreboding sky. Their fishing outing comes to an abrupt end when they spot something in the water, and they return with a woman...

Vitoria (Spain), July 20 (Ians/Efe) American Grammy-nominated jazz artist Melody Gardot shined on stage here at the Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival, delivering an inspired performance whose warmth conjured up the climes of Cape Verde or Brazil.
Despite the large size of the 4,000-seat Mendizorrotza Sports Center in the capital of Spain's Basque Country, the acoustics facilitated a strange proximity between the artist and the audience that packed the venue Thursday evening.
An exceptional rhythm section (percussion and double bass), guitar and wind instruments complemented Gardot's piano and extraordinary voice during the hour-and-a-half performance, which was notable for its precision and attention to detail.

Leonardo Aversa Singer Marisa Monte.
Marisa Monte doesn’t want people to get the wrong impression about the six-year hiatus she took after her last studio release. She was quite busy during that time, giving birth to her second child, raising a family, and working on a documentary as well as a live album.
“I don’t know why, but for some people a live record doesn’t count,” Ms. Monte said during a conversation with Speakeasy from her home in Rio de Janeiro.
