Forget the ‘Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon’ – the ‘Road To Russell’ shortens every day. Having gathered enough stars to form an actual constellation in last year’s shaggy-dog-murder-caper Amsterdam, American Hustle director David O Russell has already found two more to lead the cast of his newly-announced, nutty-sounding next feature Super Toys.
As reported by Deadline, Nope star Keke Palmer_-ish sounding project. Charles Roven and Matthew Budman are on board as producers.
Beyond that, we don’t know when the film’s shooting, any plot specifics. or additional casting, and a release date is probably some way off yet. But, after recent news of multiple new Disney sequels heading our way, the prospect of a toy story of an entirely different kind has our attention.

Hollywood star Christian Bale has revealed that his period comedy film ‘Amsterdam’, which is based on the 1933 political conspiracy of ‘Business Plot’ in the US, is one of those films for which they had the luxury of time to experiment and come up with new ideas.
Talking about the same, the actor said, “There is usually a mad rush to get movies made, and that is often a necessity because of the financiers or when the studios want the films released, but there were no time limits at all.”
He further mentioned how he and the film’s director – David O Russell jammed together, “We could just sit and pour through tons of ideas, and he would give me books, and I would find ideas, and I would bring him quotes. So, there were all these other characters that came and went, and different people that we would meet and be inspired by.

“I came on the film pretty late,” says composer Daniel Pemberton while discussing his work on David O. Russell‘s latest film “Amsterdam.” “They had tried a few things out with music beforehand that hadn’t worked out, which I think is partly due to the film being complex. It’s not a straightforward, generic, formulaic movie. It is a complicated movie with so many different strands in it. I think it was difficult to work out what the score should be.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Amsterdam” stars Christian Bale, John David Washington and Margot Robbie as three friends who witness a murder, are framed for it, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. The large ensemble includes Robert De Niro, Taylor Swift, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek and many more.

Exclusive: Deadline can reveal before Sunday’s world premiere of the David O. Russell-directed Amsterdam that the film’s final musical number “Time” was done with help from Drake and platinum recording artist Giveon.
Daniel Pemberton wrote the original score for the film, and he was also inspired to create a song based on his score’s melodic theme. Working with producer Matthew Budman, who believed the film’s empowering message about the bonds of friendship was perfectly suited for a song, they reached out to Budman’s business partner and the film’s executive producer, Drake. He turned to friend and collaborator Giveon to perform the song, which Drake and Jahaan Sweet wrote together and which Pemberton produced.
David O. Russell’s ‘Amsterdam’ Going Earlier In October
The result, “Time,” combines the original score’s main theme with Giveon’s rich, classic vocals, woodwind instrumentation, and a piano track by Sweet.

Exclusive: Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki is signing on to be the cinematographer on David O. Russell’s new untitled New Regency film. The pic is untitled and the logline is being kept under wraps, but Christian Bale, Michael B. Jordan and Margot Robbie are so far set to star in a film expected to begin production sometime in the spring. It is based on an original idea by the multi-hyphenate writer-director-producer.
Deadline doesn’t often make a fuss about a Director of Photography taking on a movie, but Lubezki has won the Academy Award three times in his last six outings, starting with Gravity and then Birdman and The Revenant. He worked with New Regency on the latter two features, as well as Carne y Arena, the virtual reality installation that explored the human condition and challenges facing immigrants. Gravity was directed by Alfonso Cuarón; Birdman and The Revenant by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu.

Exclusive: AMC-owned Rlje Films is closing a North American deal near $2 million at the Sundance Film Festival for Spree, an edgy gonzo satire that stars Stranger Things‘ Joe Keery, Sasheer Zamata, David Arquette, Kyle Mooney, Mischa Barton and Josh Ovalle. Pic premiered last Friday at the Marc and several entities bid.
Keery plays a disaffected young guy who seeks quick validation by engaging in a murder spree in a rideshare car, called Spree, and chronicling it on a Facebook-live type site called #TheLesson. He’s decked out his car with cameras for a nonstop livestream full of killer entertainment. In the middle of all this madness, a stand-up comedian with her own viral agenda, Jessie Adams, crosses his path and becomes our only hope to put a stop to his misguided carnage.
Prolific indie director Eugene Kotlyarenko makes his Sundance debut with this gonzo satire of demented social media obsession.

New Regency executives are aiming for a spring production start. If the project comes together, Russell would direct from his own script. Plot details are being kept under wraps. Matthew Budman, an executive producer on “Joy” and “American Hustle,” is producing.
Bale and Russell worked together on 2010’s “The Fighter” and 2013’s “American Hustle.” Bale won the Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance as Dicky Eklund in “The Fighter.” Bale was also nominated for Oscars for “American Hustle” and Adam McKay’s “The Big Short” and “Vice.” He most recently starred as racecar driver Ken Miles in Fox-Disney’s “Ford v Ferrari” opposite Matt Damon.
