Kate Winslet, Sharon Horgan and Ben Whishaw were among those who scooped the top prizes at the BAFTA TV awards on Sunday evening.
The ceremony, which took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.
Winslet won the prize for best leading actress for her turn in “I Am Ruth,” which also starred her real-life daughter Mia Threapleton. The duo also took to the stage to accept the award for best single drama, with Threapleton tearing up. “We did this together kiddo,” Winslet said as she accepted the leading actress award, adding: “There were days when it was agony for [Threapleton] to dig as deeply as she did and it took my breath away.”

Paddington Bear’s unexpected tea with the late Queen Elizabeth II during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year has won the Memorable Moment gong at the BAFTA TV Awards.
The moment beat the finale of Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls, when the people of Northern Ireland overwhelmingly voted for peace in a beautifully shot send-off segment.

In just two months, Worthy Farm will be transformed into a festival site with the return of Glastonbury this summer.
While the large majority of tickets were sold in November, music fans had another chance to secure their place at this year’s event with a “very limited number” of tickets on sale this week.
The first batch of resale tickets, which included coach travel, were sold on Thursday (20 April). The second and final portion of resale tickets – not including travel – were available for purchase at 9am today (Sunday 23 April).
It took less than six minutes, however, for all of the tickets to be sold, leaving many disappointed music fans airing their grievances with the ticketing system on social media.
Now in its 51st year, Glastonbury 2023 is due to take place in Somerset between Wednesday and Sunday, 21 – 25 June.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has returned for a brand new series with a fresh bunch of contestants.
The ITV series is taking place in Wales, as opposed to Australia, for the second year running due to the pandemic
Proceedings kicked off last week with a bumper episode that saw broadcaster Richard Madeley and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge led two teams in the first Bushtucker Trial. Madeley has since been forced to exit the series after he was taken to hospital as a “precaution” due to ill health.
While many viewers usually express sympathy for the contestants as they participate in these challenging trials, it’s worth remembering they’ve been paid good money to be on the show.
So, how much is each celebrity earning for their appearance in the reality series? The full amount haven’t been officially announced, but this year’s highest-paid star...

A new feature documentary backed by Red Bull will examine the historic journey of the first human-powered aircraft to fly the English Channel.
“The Flight of Bryan,” which is being introduced to buyers by Altitude Film Sales at this week’s American Film Market, tells the true story of self-taught U.S. hang glider pilot Bryan Allen, who flew his pedal-powered aircraft, the Gossamer Albatross, across the waterway connecting Britain and France in 1979.
The journey came two years after Allen made his first human-powered aircraft flight in Shafter, California, piloting his airplane to a speed of roughly 11 miles per hour and producing just under 0.5 horsepower.
The film, which is in post-production, is directed by James Erskine, who previously collaborated with Altitude on “Billie,” a 2019 documentary about American singer Billie Holliday.
The pic is produced by Alex Holmes, Victoria Gregory, Sean Sorenson, Philip Manderla and Adele Reeves.

The official Twitter account for Canada’s Drag Race had to hastily delete an unfortunately timed tweet amid news of the Queen’s death.
On Thursday (8 August), Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully in Balmoral at the age of 96.
Earlier in the day, when reports of the Queen’s ill health were circulating in the news, Canada’s Drag Race (the Canadian version of the popular RuPaul’s Drag Race TV franchise) issued a promotional tweet teasing its season finale.
“Happy #CanadasDragRace Finale Day,” it read. “The crown is up for grabs... who is going to take it home?”
Alongside the text, the show shared an image of a crown.
The message, which was most likely composed and scheduled long before news of the Queen’s status had broken, was promptly deleted – but not before people managed to screenshot evidence of its existance.
“Possibly an all-time deleted tweet,” wrote Huffington Post’s Philip Lewis,...

When “The Real Mo Farah,” a documentary about the Olympic gold-winning athlete, aired on the BBC in the U.K. last month, it was front page news.
The feature doc, which had been kept so tightly under wraps even some of those working on it didn’t know exactly what it contained, revealed that the story Farah had repeatedly told about his upbringing – on talk shows and in his published autobiography – was a lie. In fact, his real name was Hussein Abdi Kahin and at 9 years old he was torn from his family and trafficked by neighbors from Somaliland to Britain to work, he says, in indentured servitude.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.
The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Queen Elizabeth II was amused today by yet another celebration of her 70th year on the throne. This time, it was a Windsor castle event called “A Gallop Through History,” which the horse-loving Queen delighted in watching.

Birmingham, June 6 (Ians) Long-distance Olympic champion Mo Farah's chances of competing at the Tokyo Olympics have all but evaporated as one of the most successful British athletes failed to clock the qualification time of 27min 28sec at the European Athletics 10,000m Cup in Birmingham.
The 38-year-old Farah, who won a grand double, clinching the 5,000m and 10,000m gold at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, clocked 27:50:54 which was his slowest since 2014 and good enough for eighth place.
Farah was expected to have an easy outing on Saturday given that he was competing in the 10,000m after nearly four years, but he started struggling midway, which he attributed to a niggle to his left ankle sustained 10 days ago.
This was Farah's maiden loss over the distance in nearly a decade, since emerging second at the World Championships in Daegu in 2011.
"I am obviously disappointed with the result but it is what it is.

What a funny feeling
I feel depleted
From feelings I've been revealing
it’s do or die I'm not going willing
but when it’s time wrap in white linen
I rap this
I say it for my sanity
Whatever the calamity I did this for myself
F**k all your fantasies
you’re a snake fell off the ladder
I prefer speaking in analogies
I’ve had enough of all this wet
and I can’t trust that you're my family
I don't know whats next

Save the Children has announced Sir Mo Farah as patron of its new Global Malnutrition Initiative.
Sir Mo Farah has been an Ambassador for Save the Children since 2017 when he notably led a fundraising campaign for the charity’s East Africa Appeal as well as generously donating £100,000 from the Mo Farah Foundation. The money raised from the appeal delivered life-saving aid to malnourished children and families caught up in a severe drought in the Horn of Africa.
The efforts of the international community and the generosity of the British public averted a catastrophic famine in 2017. Two years later, however, the region is facing another severe drought. Global hunger is on the rise for the first time in 10 years and malnutrition remains a leading cause of deaths in children under five.
In response, Save the Children has launched the Global Malnutrition Initiative which will pilot innovative approaches to tackling malnutrition in fragile and conflict affected states.
