Going into the launch of Remnant 2, the sequel to the acclaimed action-rpg Remnant: From the Ashes, Gunfire Games promised improvements upon its world and combat for the sequel, but one thing curiously remained familiar: the three-player limit for co-op play.
For those accustomed to larger online experiences, the decision was undoubtedly puzzling. However, Gunfire design director John Pearl has explained the decision in an interview, while also teasing potential future upgrades for co-op.
Remnant 2 Was Built Around Three Player Co-op
Pearl says the sequel is developed to provide the best experience for a “maximum of three players.”
Speaking with WccfTech, Pearl shed light on the reasoning behind the decision to keep co-op limits unchanged for Remnant 2:
Three feels like the right group size for our game. We’ve built the world so that a maximum of three players feel like they have the room they need to maneuver around and never feel cramped.

Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition – the current-gen port of the original game released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2012 – releases worldwide on October 27, according to an update posted on Nordic Games’ website.
In the sequel to the original Darksiders, players fill the shoes of Death, one of the horsemen of the apocalypse, as he attempts to clear his brother War’s name after the events of the first game.
However, this isn’t a lazy port just to generate some extra cash from beating a dead horse. The design director for the re-release, John Pearl, has revealed what kinds of improvements fans who buy the Deathinitive Edition can expect in a few weeks time:
It’s rare that as developers we get the opportunity to revisit one of our previous games. The passage of time and the numerous games we’ve worked on since Darksiders II shipped has allowed us to...

Ahead of its release later this year, developer Nordic Games has lifted the curtain on our first look at the remastered Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, showcasing the graphical leap between the soon-to-be-released port and Vigil’s 2012 original.
Much like remakes in a similar wheelhouse, the revamped version of Darksiders II will run natively at 1080p on current-gen hardware, though there’s ample room for improvement beyond simply visuals. In a statement, Nordic detailed some of the lighting alterations and texture changes making their way into the re-release, and the studio released a trio of images to illustrate the jump between the old and the new.
“When we thought about what we wanted to do for the Deathinitive edition of Darksiders II, obviously we wanted to run in native 1080p and increase the resolution of the textures,” design director John Pearl said in a statement. “Additionally, we...
