The 45-year-old rapper changed the format during his Saturday Night Live performance this weekend — rather than treating viewers to two separate songs, as is the norm for the show’s musical guests, he appeared only once and played a nearly nine-minute medley of three songs.
Backed by a string section and band, he started with new single “Walk on Water.” The Grammy-winner was accompanied by the song’s writer, Skylar Grey, who played piano and performed the vocals provided by Beyoncé on the official recording.

Last week saw the wide release of one of the year’s best documentaries, Weiner. Through very funny (and tragic at times) everything in this political profile is real (much to the title subject’s embarrassment). So, let’s turn the tables this week with a fictional comedy, shot and edited as though it’s a documentary. Yes, it’s another example of the hybrid made so popular by triple threat Christopher Guest (it’s almost as though he invented it), the “mock-umentary”. All the way back in 1984, Guest (with director Rob Reiner) torpedoed the serious film format with the look at a fictitious heavy metal band in This Is Spinal Tap (later he, as actor/writer/director, would take on 60’s folk music with A Mighty Wind). Happily a current group of satirists have decided that those music styles are not the only ones ripe for ridicule (rap got...

Amanda Bynes used to give advice to children on the Nickelodeon sketch series All That, which was basically the kids' version of Saturday Night Live. Bynes' cute little Ashley character would sit atop a twin bed, wearing a prim and proper outfit with her hair pulled back, and read letters people wrote asking for her advice. She'd start out in an innocent, caring voice, then she'd become an evil demon-possessed alien girl, and then go right back to her sweet self. Girl had great comedy chops. Watch for yourself. It's been 10 years since Ashlee Simpson left her mark on Saturday Night Live history with her infamous lip syncing debacle – and you can still feel the awkward!
On that fateful night back in 2004, Ashlee performed her first song, "Pieces of Me," without a hitch. But, when it came time for her second song, vocals for "Pieces of Me" began playing, again – and Ashlee… kind of panicked and broke out into an awkward hoedown.
Once she realized there was no coming back after her little jig, she held her head down and sauntered off stage, leaving her band to continue playing for around 30 seconds before SNL cut to commercial.

They may be brothers and sisters in real life, but in the acting world, sibling actors are often fierce competitors. Sometimes they're even up for the same roles.

Internet phenomenon Lana Del Rey had her U.S. television debut on SNL Saturday night. Del Rey has thus far remained largely within the confines of the internet -- she first gained international attention with her song, "Video Games," and followed up with a series of internet releases in rapid succession, all of which will be featured on her forthcoming album, Born To Die. According to Stereogum, she's the first artist to perform on SNL before the release of a major label album since Natalia Imbruglia.
Her performance Saturday night was under high scrutiny by those who are familiar with her internet videos, and her American debut for those who've never heard her name. For these reasons, it possibly couldn't have gone worse. Del Rey, who had expressed her nervousness before the show, was pitchy and strangely guttural in her renditions of "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans." Those who have...

Jason Sudeikis, 36, and Ashley Olsen, 25, are spotted canoodling together. A sentence that should have never been spoken nor written. Especially because of the use of the word canoodling period. This can't be happening. But, really, the two were awful close at a gathering early Tuesday morning so it must be true, right?
Sources are saying to the NY Daily News that Jason had "his arm around" her and they were both cuddling up in a booth during a party for Brett Ratner's Tower Heist. As in, that Stone Rose lounge booth at the Time Warner Center never knew what was coming. Seriously, who knew Michelle Tanner would be spotted with an SNL funny actor years after Uncle Jesse and dad Danny let her start to date. Not funny? Neither was the hug song that came in at every episode's ending but that's beside the point, it was a classic.

Does Hollywood have a new strangely matched couple?
Ashley Olsen and "SNL" funny man Jason Sudeikis were spotting getting close at the after-party for "Tower Heist" last night, reports the New York Daily News.
According to a party-goer the 36-year-old actor had his arm around the 25-year-old former child star turned designer, while they "snuggled" in a booth at Stone Rose lounge on New York's Upper West Side.
Sudeikis broke up with "Mad Men" actress January Jones, at the begining of 2011 and is rumored to be the father of her baby Xander, though neither will confirm it.
Meanwhile Olsen broke up with actor Justin Bartha just a few months after Sudeikis split with Jones, so both celebs are in the market for a new romance.

Um, I am still recovering from last night's episode of America's Next Top Model. It took me three — yes, three — hours to watch the show last night because there were too many amazingly awkward screen-shots to take. Eastbound & Down Season 3 Trailer
In January the finale season of Eastbound & Down will premiere, and while it’s only in its third season we should not be sad. Reception has been great for this HBO show despite its short run and it feels like it’ll be going out on its own terms. In honor of the upcoming season, we get what might be the best teaser I’ve ever seen for a show.
The entire 30 seconds of teaser largely feature a smokin’ hot lady having Kenny Powers’ face painted on to her shirt. The lady seems to like, and I do to. Danny McBride provides a voice over, asking the viewer “So who’s ready to party with Kenny Powers?” Cue the nice lady turning around to see she has the Eastbound & Down logo as a tramp stamp. David Guetta has never failed at delivering scorching summer dance tunes, and his Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj-assisted new single “Where Them Girls At” is no exception to that rule. In the visual for the buzzing track, which dropped Monday night, Guetta adds a twist to his typical video fashion. Teachers don’t get enough credit. Luckily, there are movies out there that shine the light on this noble profession…but Bad Teacher ain’t one of ‘em. This movie goes for the comedic jugular, and gives you a teacher that’s more like a kid in juvie than an adult in the teacher’s lounge. Thank god.
The story is simple, if you’ve seen the trailer you know the deal. Elizabeth Halsey is a nightmare with teaching creds. She did as little as humanly possible her first year of teaching, then decided to blow off her job because of her upcoming marriage to a stinkin’ rich dude. But the guy changes his mind, and Elizabeth finds herself back behind a desk, where her “teaching” consists of playing movies to her students. All’s well — for Elizabeth, at least — ‘til she finds out that the teacher whose students score...

Shortly after Ashley Olsen was linked romantically to Justin Timberlake, words are spreading that her twin sister, Mary-Kate Olsen, got cozy with another famous musician. According to Perez Hilton, the Kendra Hilferty of "Beastly" was spotted hooking up with "Heartless" rapper Kanye West.
While details of the hook-up itself remain scarce, celebrity blogger Perez claimed that it happened on Wednesday night, June 8. At the time, Kanye was reportedly celebrating his 34th birthday with a bash at Submercer Nightclub in New York City.
Both Mary-Kate and Kanye are single. The former "Full House" actress has split with longterm boyfriend Nate Lowman since February last year, while the "Gold Digger" hitmaker broke up from Amber Rose last summer.
As for Mary-Kate's twin sister, Ashley was alleged dating newly-single Justin after the two were spotted inseparable in and around New York City. Us Weekly reported that the two were together at the Greenwich Hotel,...

9:58 - Well, another year, another MTV Movie Awards, another five, maybe six awards given out. Thanks for watching with me. I need to go be alone with that Fright Night preview again. Good night!
9:56 - Seriously. If they'd put Taylor Lautner in Avatar they wouldn't have needed a stitch of makeup.
9:54 - Re: Busey, I like my crazy, semi-special celebrities to just be crazy and semi-special on their own. When you pull them out and put them on MTV, it just feels impuren and like the joke is on them. I like the joke on them where it belongs: behind their backs.

Ever since he broke up from longtime girlfriend Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake has been linked to a number of single ladies in Hollywood. Most recently, the "Bad Teacher" actor was rumored to be hooking up with Ashley Olsen. His representative, however, was quick to deny the dating report.
When setting the record straight, Justin's rep also shot down rumor that Justin might be romancing Olivia Wilde. "Justin is friends with both Olivia and Ashley," the rep told E! Online. "He is not romantically involved with either. He is single." A friend of the singer-turned-actor added, "Justin and Ashley have a ton of mutual friends. Yeah, they were hanging out. But there is nothing going on."
News of Justin's possible hook-up with Ashley was brought up by Us Weekly. In its latest issue, the publication claimed that the two single stars have been inseparable in and around New York City,...

Star celeb Ashlee Simpson splits with Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz? – [Feb. 9] Star celeb and pop singer Ashlee Simpson, younger sister of celebrity singer and actress Jessica Simpson, is ending her almost three-year marriage to star celeb and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz. TMZ obtained the divorce documents which confirms that Ashlee Simpson, who famously botched a lip-sync of a hit song on Saturday Night Live in 2004, filed for divorce from Fall Out Boy member Pete Wentz due to irreconcilable differences. TMZ is also reporting that star celeb Ashlee Simpson was becoming increasingly worried about the behavior of her husband Pete Wentz. According to TMZ: Our sources say, no third party is involved. One source very familiar with the situation tells TMZ, "It's really all about Pete's erratic behavior." The source adds, "She really wanted out." However, a source close to Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz told TMZ: Sources connected...

Mario Lopez, Melissa Joan Hart, a Christmas story about kidnapping and wrongful imprisonment… Sure, let’s see what that’s all about. Here’s a promo for ABC Family’s Holiday in Handcuffs. First, let’s give credit where credit is due. Rather than just giving Melissa Joan Hart glasses for the whole “lady is attractive but looks terrible at first” trope, they went the Cheri Oteri SNL character route. That’s a new and unique way of doing that. Good job, Holiday in Handcuffs. Now, onto everything else. ABC Family ruined Christmas. I get that ABC Family holiday movies aren’t for me, but normally I can at least tell who they’re for. This, however, seems to be for no one at all. You can’t just pretend kidnapping at gun point is cute. Faulty Premise. Christmas is cancelled everyone. Go get your gifts back from that charity you donate gifts to.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List
I imagine there are many perks to being Kathy Griffin’s assistant: jet-setting around the globe, meeting celebrities and pseudo-celebrities (I’m raising my penciled-in eyebrow at you, Snooki), and hanging around a really funny lady.
Oh, and having your nether regions waxed.
On this week’s D-List, Kathy hocked her wares to sell out three shows at Madison Square Garden, then worked on meeting her book publisher’s demand of selling 600 books at a single book signing, and getting herself “vagazzled.”
With a trip to the salon for a Brazilian once over and some sparkly bling just north of the money shot, Kathy was ready to get the word out and her pap smear on (under the watchful eyes of an audience and the media, of course) to spread the word about cervical cancer.
Naturally, Kathy wasn’t satisfied until her nervous...

Ashley Galvan's seemingly modest rib injury proved season-ending last night on So You Think You Can Dance, making for the second consecutive week we've said goodbye to a dancer who couldn't even perform or dance for their life - a major drag.
Unlike Alex Wong's exit last week after lacerating his Achilles, Ashley's "rib bruise" seemed innocuous enough to guarantee she'd be moving on to the final six.
Alas, the bruise was worse than expected, and she's now out, leaving Lauren Froderman as the lone female representative of the final six dancers this season.
"It sucks," Ashley said of her elimination, but "I do have something to look forward to, which is the tour. Going on the tour is such an amazing opportunity."
Ashley Galvan's injury bought Billy Bell a reprieve.

Ashley Galvan has become the fifth finalist to be eliminated from the seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance. The 19-year-old lyrical dancer was eliminated during tonight's live results show after falling into the bottom three along with Billy Bell and Jose Ruiz. Galvan was automatically in danger of being eliminated because of a rib injury which prevented her from performing in last night's show. Billy and Juan performed solo again for judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman. They unanimously agreed to eliminate Galvan as doctors have advised her not to dance for three to five weeks in order to allow her injuries to heal properly. Nigel told Ashley that he is not happy (more)...

(S07E15) As Cat welcomes America to 'So You Think You Can Dance' we're reminded that Ashley will be in the bottom three. I'm quite confused as to why we weren't allowed to see Ashley at all this week as last week Alex was sobbing in the audience. Seeing her being able to stand up for the final three should have allowed her to sit in the audience.
Group Dance - Broadway - With more of the contestants being eliminated, using the All-Stars seems like an interesting choice for choreographers. I don't think I saw Jose once during the routine except for when he carted Cat onto the stage. The fact that Dominic was doing all of the break moves shows that Tyce either didn't like Jose's repertoire or that he's not confident in Jose. The line routine was the best part of the dance,...

Sigh. One week after Alex Wong tore his Achilles tendon and was declared Dfy, not only costing So You Think You Can Dance a fan favorite but rendering that entire week's worth of performances more or less moot, Ashley Galvan was on the shelf with a rib injury.
She did not dance Wednesday and will be in the bottom three.
Unlike Alex, her status is likely to remain questionable through tonight, so if she makes it through but still can't dance, she's out of the show. Who will join her on the block?
Here's our take on last night's Sytycd performances ...
Lauren Froderman with Mark Kanemura (Tahitian): High energy, but the first Tahitian display on the show can be summed up as such: "I have no idea what to say." - Nigel

Trust me, you wouldn't want to be in my position. You wouldn't want to be the guy who predicts who goes home on So You Think You Can Dance this week.
And no, it's not because Ashley Galvan's severe rib pains sidelined her this week and sent her to the bottom three. (But I'll admit, the idea of Ashley -- arguably one of the better dancers this season -- going home isn't going well with me.) The performances this week were really good: a diverse mix of styles that were interesting in one way or another. If the bottom three the past few weeks have been surprising, then this week could be a shocker. It's that hard getting a good read this week.

(S07E14) 'So You Think You Can Dance' has had a string of injuries this season. First with All-Star Allison's injury, Alex's departure last week, and this week Ashley has a rib injury. While there's no guarantee that she is out for the rest of the season, next season may look very interesting if both Alex and Ashley make it back. Because of Ashley's injury the Rumba choreographed by Dmitry Chaplin will be shrouded in mystery.
To lighten the mood, I'm excited to see that Louis Van Amstel from 'Dancing With the Stars' will be providing a dance this week. Along with that, we get our first Tahitian and Breaking routines and we finally see our first Disco routine of the season.

As Wednesday night's (July 7) episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" began and the contestants made their entrances, one familiar face was obviously missing. With much regret, Cat Deeley announced that Alex Wong had injured himself while rehearsing his Bollywood routine with Adechike the night before, and that he would be unable to perform this week due to a ruptured Achilles tendon (ouch!). Will this be the end of Alex on season seven of "So You Think You Can Dance"? We certainly hope not, because seeing one of the most talented dancers on the show exit the competition would be heartbreaking. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
Last night's show also marked the beginning of the dancers performing two routines per show: One with an All-Star and one with a fellow contestant. This really heated up the competition, because we finally got to see how the contestants matched up against each other,...

A pall was cast over So You Think You Can Dance last night after it was revealed that Alex Wong hurt his leg while rehearsing a Bollywood routine with Adechike Torbert.
He could not perform last night.
Best case: He'll recover and perform next week. Worst case: Alex ruptured his Achilles tendon and is Dfy. Sad. He's in the bottom three tonight automatically either way.
Given his popularity, and the fact that fans will sympathize with his injury, we'd say there's little chance he'll be voted out, especially if there's a chance he's on the mend.
If he can't perform next week, however, then he's out for good. Cross your fingers that scenario never comes into play and wish Alex Wong a swift and thorough recovery.
Your Top Eight Dancers: (from left to right) Lauren Froderman, Jose Ruiz, Kent Boyd, the injured Alex Wong, Ashley Galvan, AdeChike Torbert, Robert Roldan and Billy Bell.
