It all comes down to the final battle, spearheaded by Vignette, Leonora, the Black Raven, and the New Dawn.
But first, Leonora and all sides planned their attack methods on Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 9.
Many secrets were revealed during the series's penultimate episode, and many were exposed partly due to Tourmaline's powers.
We learned something new about her powers: she can prevent Darius from transforming.
This excited Darius, as transforming is not something he can control.
Tourmaline's powers transformed throughout the season, and even though the magic she inherited was dark, we're happy she could find some good use for it.
She embraced the dark side of her magic while still trying her best not to let it affect her soul.
At the end of the penultimate episode, she purposefully triggered her power to see through the Sparas' eyes, where she discovered its identity.

The prospect of the return home drove the Black Raven to (seemingly) attack their own and team up with an unlikely ally.
Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 7 saw a deal, brokered by Philo with Millworthy, to send the Fae back to Tirnanoc since the Pact started retreating.
But, nothing turned out the way Vignette and Philo planned, and more bloodshed occurred in the process.
Vignette and Philo seem to be done for good romantically and only work together as a means to an end of repression.
The war also made significant advancements throughout the two hours, with the Pact taking more losses than expected (don't underestimate the New Dawn).
Tourmaline's vision also had a chance of not coming true, with the prospect of returning to Tirnanoc becoming her saving grace. If she's not in the place where she dies in her vision, she won't die, right?

Changes and deaths took the forefront of Carnival Row's next two installments.
With the series finale fast approaching, many characters saw their paths changing for the better, while others saw significant setbacks.
Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 5 it also featured the death of two major players on the political side of things, shaking up the Burgue's politics.
What do we mean by two major players? We mean Jonah and Sophie.
Jonah executed Sophie for her treachery, but then Jonah quickly met a more painful execution by Sparas.
The Sparas, a creature/species, has been the creature committing all of the murders across The Burgue.
The character design for this shapeshifting monster is incredible and seriously terrified us (and the characters).
Vignette, whom the Sparas had just saved from execution, screamed in fear as the Sparas came close to her, but it freed her from her chains.
Sadly, the creature arrived too late to save Sophie,...

The setup of the first two hours paid off in a brilliant pair of follow-up episodes that nearly took us to the halfway mark for the final season.
Tourmaline and Philo briefly teamed up to solve the murders on Carnival Row Season 2 Episode 3, but she got more than she bargained for.
Vignette plotted her revenge, and Sophie made some finalizing moves to launch her deception plan.
Tourmaline's storyline has turned into the most intriguing and terrifying storyline the show has had.
Karla Crome's portrayal of the Pixie (who now has the gift of sight) elevates her character into something special.
Tourmaline's journey this season has seen her grapple with the power of the sight the dead witch passed onto her. So far, all of her visions have been accidental. That is until Philo got involved.
After she told Philo about the visions of the Black Raven's deaths, he enlisted her help.

Carnival Row is back for a second and final season, and TV Fanatic got to sit down with some of the stars and showrunner to discuss what's on tap.
The show premiered in 2019 but suffered many setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic that halted productions worldwide.
Carnival Row Season 2 picks up with former inspector Philostrate (Blooom) investigating a series of gruesome murders stoking social tensions, while Vignette (Delevingne) and the Black Ravens plot payback for the unjust oppression of the Burgue's human leader.
First up, showrunner Erik Oleson talks about the trouble associated with the pandemic when filming Season 2 of Carnival Row.
He also expressed his love for the fans for waiting as long as they did.
Amazon Prime gave the showrunner an extra two episodes to rework the story to make season two the final season.
We also discuss what he's looking forward to with the second and last season.

Premiering in 2019, Prime Video’s fantasy series Carnival Row was quickly renewed for a second season before the first episode ever hit the streaming service. Then, the pandemic hit. Almost four years later, the second season is finally here, but it also serves as the final chapter in the Victorian-set drama of fairies, witches, and more. With the star power of Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevigne in the lead, the series is set to deliver a cohesive conclusion for fans of this world and story.
Season two of Carnival Row (read our review) continues the battle between humans and the Fae as a new threat appears, potentially starting an all-out war between the disparate factions in the Burgue. While Philo investigates bodies appearing with connections to the Row, Vignette continues to align herself with the Black Raven. Plot: With humans and fae folk divided and freedom on the line, each hero will face impossible dilemmas and soul-defining tests in the epic conclusion of Carnival Row.
Review: When Carnival Row premiered almost four years ago, I gave it a solid review based on the episodes I had seen. With quality production values and vivid mythology, I found the steampunk-inspired story to be intriguing. Most critics were not so kind, and, despite a quick second season renewal, the delays brought about by the pandemic also meant the sophomore season would be it’s last. While the final season of Carnival Row is two episodes longer than the first, the gap in between has allowed this season to broaden its scope and deliver a fairly epic conclusion to the story of the fictional country known as The Burgue and the war between humans and the supernatural beings that reside in the titular slum.

The series first premiered in August 2019 and focuses on the titular city of Carnival Row, where mythological beings exist as oppressed refugees in a human-dominated social order. Bloom stars as Rycroft Philostrate, a detective in the city and a half-fae, who begins investigating a conspiracy involving a group of fae known as the Black Raven — one of whom is his former lover Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne).
