Amid a difficult season for new comedies, ABC has rewarded two of its moderate successes, Trophy Wife and The Goldbergs, with back-nine orders. Trophy Wife continues to quietly coalesce into one of the stronger sitcom ensembles seen in a while, and definitely the strongest collection of weird little kids. The latter continues to burn through ’80s pop culture references at a pace that should have them making jokes about Haircut 100 and Edwin Meese by May, or hopefully downplaying them in favor of concentrating on character development, now that it can relax a little. Meanwhile, the network also picked ...

Today sees the DVD and Blu-ray unleashing of Jason Statham in Parker, and the actor’s recent turn in Hummingbird (the Us have the snappier, and more prosaic title of Redemption) has been praised for allowing the actor to do more than his trademark kickery and gunplay.
As the man is unashamedly an action star and doesn’t care who knows it (how many other people could get away with being a character called Lee Christmas while sharing the screen with cinema’s hardest action heroes?) it’s nice to see him stepping outside of the expected.
So here, to celebrate the man, we’ve concocted five films in genres very definitely in the realms of the unexpected. Here are five Jason Statham films we want to see as soon as is possible please.
Film: Chitty Chitty Bang F*(%(ng Bang
Tagline: He’ll get fantasmagorical on your arse.

Music was my first love. And it will be my last. Music of the future. And music of the past. Oooh, I think there’s a song in there somewhere. Although, being a bit of a pedant, how could John Miles sing about music that he Hadn’T Even heard of yet?
Electronic music was my real first love. The day that “Jack Your Body” by Steve Silk Hurley went to the tippety-top top of the pop parade was the day that music in this country changed forever. Goodbye Cliff Richard! Goodbye middle-of-the-road mawkish pap! Goodbye yellow brick road! Welcome to the future!
Ok, so I was a tad naïve. But what it did do, it made me not only search out music that I had previously dismissed when I was going through my pop phase (Haircut 100? Really, Neville), but also to listen to those records again and realise that well,...

Washington, Mar 14: Catherine Zeta-Jones' hair was so big as a teenager that she was forced to sit at the back of her classroom because she hindered other students' view of the blackboard.
The 42-year-old actress used to blow-dry her mane to mimic the styles worn by her favourite bands as a teenager.
"I was into big hair in a big way. I was completely in love with Duran Duran and Haircut 100. My hair was so big that I had to sit at the back of the class in school because the other kids couldn't see the blackboard. I was working as a teenager in London theatre, but I was a New Romantic," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Ok!.

Like seemingly every other young indie-rock band of the last two years, Surfer Blood draws some inspiration from Afrobeat and related exotica. The biggest difference is that Surfer Blood’s music is a lot beefier than that of its peers, and more eclectic. The Florida quartet is infatuated with echoing percussion and tactile guitar, and it sounds a lot like one of the early-’80s British jet-set bands—Haircut 100, say—yet it maintains a faintly noirish mood. (Either way, Surfer Blood’s debut album, Astro Coast, is tailor-made for people in trenchcoats, whether they’re ducking paparazzi or going ...
