In the macho world of superstar DJs (and irate presidents), Twitter is the battleground, the premier forum for airing grievances about the competition. Case in point: In March of 2016, Diplo – who made $23 million that year, according to Forbes – decided that another producer, Zedd ($24 million) had plagiarized the work of the young Australian beat-maker Flume. So Diplo took aim on social media and let fly: "[You’re] young and rich and a great musician … Use that to your advantage … Don't be such a pompous cornball loser also I fucked your girl."

When attending South by Southwest every year, there’s at least one press junket that goes above-and-beyond. Food, activities – the works. This year, it was for Free Fire – Ben Wheatley’s feature-length shootout where a gun deal goes butts-up. I’d already caught his masterpiece at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it quickly become one of my favorite movies of 2016 (and now, by release date scheduling, 2017). Such a crazy concept billed on 70s action sleaziness, but Wheatley executes each trigger-pull beautifully. Read about my love for this maniac shoot-em-up right here, or accept the following blurb as gospel:
Free Fire is a relentless genre assault of bullets, laughs and personality, like a pseudo action movie that cranks intensity to 11 and rips off the knob.
Needless to say, the only thing better than watching Free Fire would be participating in a non-lethal shootout with the film’s cast and creators.

Arrival star Jeremy Renner tells us why Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws was key to his performance, and lots more...

All year I've had that Jim Broadbent line from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull stuck in my head: "We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away." It's just about the only good line in that movie - certainly, the only one that is even attempting to be insightful about where Indiana Jones would have been at that point as a person, even if the rest of the film couldn't care less. And maybe I'm just feeling sorry for myself in thinking about those things, but as others have observed elsewhere: Holy fuck, 2016. Stop. Enough. With every one the profound underlying sadness of the elderly is more sensible - how many...

Nearly a decade after Clerks II came out, director Kevin Smith will be making another sequel to his breakthrough movie Clerks. The filmmaker revealed the news in his Hollywood Babble-On podcast, attributing the film's sudden greenlighting to the poor reception his current film, Tusk, is getting in theaters.
"A year and change ago I was desperately trying to get Clerks III made for the 20th anniversary and that desperation – I must have reeked of it because I couldn't fucking find money and shit," Smith said, according to The Wrap. "But it was Tusk,...

Great news for Clerks fans. On the latest episode of Kevin Smith’s (we haven’t forgotten Ralph) Hollywood Babble-On podcast, the director announced that Clerks 3 is finally happening! “Tusk opened about as poorly as a movie can open. Honestly, I read a lot of fuckin pieces the day after were like utter disaster and shit like that. I did. As per usual, the people that love me, love me, but the people that fucking hate me, hate my guts Everything in my life would suck right now if I hadn’t made that movie. I’m back in movies now. I’ve got three lined up, and this is the fucking grand news. Tusk was the absolute bridge to Clerks 3. Because of Tusk, I got my financing for Clerks 3. … It was Tusk. It was people going ‘Holy Fuck! What else do you have?’ And I was like, Clerks 3.Done.

Ladies and gentlemen, pray take your seats and prepare to submit yourselves to the transcendental musings of the one and only Twilight princess …
Say what you will about movie stars, they're the world's most criminally undervalued workforce. Certainly by themselves. Someone who was in a film with Gerard Butler once told me of the latter's rapturous reaction to some rushes. "Jesus!" marvelled Butler. "Did you see my eyes in that take?"
Ah, Gerard … an actor whose case notes were long ago branded with my special stamp reading: "Just Not A Leading Man." Still, let's all be encouraged by the news that he is reportedly in talks to reprise the Patrick Swayze role in the deeply called-for Point Break remake (can it be called Pointless Break?). On the basis of the above, few would be better placed than Butler to deliver the classic line: "I know you want me so bad...

Rick Grimes is having yet another very bad day. Not a wake-up-from-a-coma-to-find-the-world's-been-overrun-by-zombies bad day or even a my-son-just-shot-my-wife-after-she-gave-birth-to-a-child-that-may-have-been-fathered-by-my-former-best-friend sort of day, but still pretty awful. There's dirt smeared on his face, a gash over his left eye and a soiled white bandage wrapped loosely around one hand. He's gasping for breath as he trudges up a hill outside the prison he and the band of survivors he's leading call home. He looks like he might collapse.

In 2012, writers C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson took an idea of Cargill’s and turned it into the movie Sinister. Under the watchful helm of director Derrickson, the film made more than six times its budget on opening weekend. By the end of the year it had grossed more than 16 times its $3,000,000 investment. They vowed to work together again. In the meantime Cargill wrote the novel Dreams & Shadows. Both gentlemen were on hand at Dark Delicacies recently for C. Robert Cargill’s book signing event. Did you start writing prose first or screenplays first? C. Robert Cargill: Prose first. Scott played a huge role in the creation of this book. I was working as a film critic and I knew my time was coming to an end. The internet was going in a very weird direction. Anybody can be a critic now. Cargill: Anybody can be a critic,...

While at the 2013 E3 I hit a demo for Techland's upcoming survival horror game Dying Light. Due to the over-saturation and decline of quality in the zombie game genre, admittedly I was a little gun-shy walking into the private demo and fully expected to either yawn or roll my eyes in disdain.
Then I remembered these were the guys who brought us the Dead Island franchise… which is when I got a little giddy.
As soon as the lights went down, it was all business in this survival horror Fps set in a dangerous open world overrun by a massive outbreak.
During the day, you're scavenging for supplies and creating makeshift weapons to defend yourself not only from zombies but something much more treacherous in what's known as a "viral". Virals are just as dangerous because until they fully turn, they still have the power of speech and therefore can...

Electro-pop star Lights had been progressively amping up the electro part, culminating in "Siberia," her gold-selling, album-length collaboration with live electronic act Holy Fuck. But her new release, "Siberia Acoustic," takes the pixie-sized singer in an entirely different direction.
As Lights explained in a recent Huffington Post blog, this acoustic album is what she hopes she'll "get to play at the end of the world."
To achieve this, Lights enlisted Coeur de Pirate, Owl City and Max Kerman from The Arkells to help sing on the album, which this time she self-produced. Coincidentally, we've got an intimate behind-the-scenes clip of Lights and Kerman working on their version of "Siberia's" title track in the studio.
"Max is a blast, such a natural performer," Lights tells HuffPost Canada Music. "We pretty much worked out our parts and recorded the track all live off the floor. There were jokes and looks all the way through it.

We came here today not to bury Justin Bieber, but to praise him. While the Canadian pop star's fancy high-stepping proved to be out of bounds to the sold-out football crowd at Toronto's Rogers Centre for the 100th Grey Cup game, we're dropping a penalty flag on the boos his performance received.
The pop idol, who recently received the Diamond Jubilee Medal from Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a pair of overalls, was a divisive half-time show attraction for the Canadian Football League championship game which was won 35-22 by the Toronto Argonauts over the Calgary Stampeders.
Throughout the first half of the football game any mention of Bieber drew boos from the well-lubricated and decidedly middle-age audience. But by the time he was set to perform, those boos were matched by the trill screams of a few hundred young Biebermaniacs who had been ushered onto the field to form...

It's well known that Austin's Fantastic Fest is as much a nerd party as it is a film festival. And that's why America's best genre fest was the perfect place for the U.S. premiere of American Mary, Jen and Sylvia Soska's extraordinary new film starring Katharine Isabelle.
The Twisted Twins and Mary costar Tristan Risk flew into town and stayed the duration of the festival, during which this trio was seemingly everywhere at once — attending multiple screenings, singing karaoke at the bar next door, posing for photos while surrounded by swarms of fawning fanboys — and, without fail, each time I saw them they were clad in a different attention-getting ensemble, kind of like the Cher of scare.
While these ladies definitely know how to work a room, their recent success hasn't jaded them. They are still horror geeks at heart. As I was rushing to a screening one afternoon,...

Skyfall is the latest James Bond film that is shaping up to be the most exciting of the (latest) series. I enjoy the Daniel Craig films (even if he is like 4 feet tall) and I think they add a certain style that was needed for the series. Even if Quantum of Solace was not as good as Casino Royale, it was still a lot of fun. So, yeah, I’m on board for this one, y’all. Let me just say, Holy Fuck! Look At Javier Bardem With Blonde Hair! He looks like a child molester or some guy who wears his mother’s skin. Not that I’m judging or anything. If your mom is cool with you wearing her skin, go for it.
