"A bad dish from you and your life will end." Magnolia Pictures has revealed the official trailer for What You Wish For, an indie thriller from filmmaker Nicholas Tomnay, a follow-up to his first film The Perfect Host. This new one premiered at many genre fests: Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, FrightFest, A Night of Horror, Grimmfest, Celluloid Screams, and Screamfest previously before its upcoming release in theaters this May during the start of the summer. A down-on-his-luck chef with gambling problems flees to a Latin American villa, where he assumes the identity of another skilled chef. "A Hitchcockian, edge-of-your-seat descent into escalating moral compromise with generous servings of dark humour, shock, and surprise." The title is an obvious riff on the "be careful what you wish for" idiom, as the full synopsis hints that he "soon discovers just what Jack's been doing to maintain the lifestyle he so desperately craved." Uh oh.

Sasquatch Sunset directors Nathan and David Zellner always wondered what these hairy giants do when they’re not walking – the only Bigfoot footage available has been a minute of a supposed Sasquatch wandering in the northern California woods. They decided to flesh that out in unique dialogue-free comedic imagining of the creatures’ daily life – eating, fighting, etc. Stars Jesse Eisenberg, Riley Keough, Christophe Zajac-Denek and Nathan Zellner are unrecognizable as the hairy tribe of four that entranced Sundance (see Deadline review). Bleecker Street is opening the film, written by David Zellner, executive produced by Ari Aster, in 9 theaters in New York, LA, San Francisco and Austin, ahead of a big jump to about 800 screens next week.

Writer/Director Kiah Roache-Turner wears his influences on his sleeves in the throwback creature feature Sting. A mysterious object from outer space crashes into a New York apartment amidst a raging blizzard, where the mysterious spider inside it is discovered by a girl named Charlotte. Charlotte dubs her new pet Sting, unaware that it’s not from Earth and comes with an insatiable appetite for human flesh. As the spider’s reign of terror increases, so does Roache-Turner’s commitment to capturing the mayhem through stunning practical creature effects, which makes this film worth the price of admission.
It’s not just the spider’s pet name, derived from The Hobbit, or the effects by the 5-time Academy Award® Winner Wētā Workshop, led by Creative Director Richard Taylor, that calls the work of Peter Jackson to mind here. It’s also the film’s sense of humor, from the opening...

A scene from ‘Sting’ (Photo Courtesy of Well Go USA Entertainment)
From Arachnophobia to Itsy Bitsy, from Tarantula to Abyssal Spider, killer spider movies have always been in style. But there’s something special about the newest eight-legged offering, Sting. Sting is everything that’s amazing about creature features.
Sting is about a young girl named Charlotte (Alyla Browne from the unfortunate Children of the Corn remake) who spends her time drawing comics and creeping into her neighbors’ apartments by crawling through the apartment building’s air ducts. One day while doing the latter, she comes across a cute little spider which she takes home and names Sting – not after the rock star or the wrestler, but after the short sword in The Hobbit. Yes, Charlotte is a dork.
But Sting isn’t a normal, run-of-the-mill spider. It’s an alien spider that crashed on Earth in a meteorite. First,...

Plot: A 12-year-old girl decides to keep a spider as a pet, not aware that the eight-legged creature is not of this world. The more it eats, the more it grows, and soon a giant space arachnid is running loose in an apartment building, snacking on the residents.
Review: Filmmaker Kiah Roache-Turner is best known for his wild and crazy zombie movies Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead and Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, which blended inspiration from Mad Max and Dawn of the Dead to tell the story of a unique zombie outbreak where the living dead have flammable blood and exhale methane. I enjoyed both of those movies, and though I haven’t seen Roache-Turner’s action comedy Nekrotronic yet, it sounds like it’s pretty much in line with the tone of the Wyrmwood flicks, as it tells the story of “a man who discovers that he is part of a...

"What kind of spider are we talking about here?" "A big one." Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for an insanely scary, unsettling horror movie called Sting, arriving in theaters this April. This Australian production comes from a filmmaker named Kiah Roache-Turner, and it looks as scary as any spider movie can. Sting spins a web of thrilling terror when 12-year-old Charlotte’s pet spider rapidly transforms into a giant flesh-eating monster, forcing the young girl to fight for her family's survival. The freaky little creature actually comes from outer space, an alien spider that befriends this little girl before it becomes an enormous killer. This stars Alyla Browne, Ryan Corr, Penelope Mitchell, Jermaine Fowler, Silvia Colloca, Danny Kim, Noni Hazlehurst, and Robyn Nevin. This isn't the only extremely scary spider movie this year - there's also a French horror called Vermin that apparently used real spiders while shooting.

If the "John Wick" films are any indication, action heroes could always use a little canine companionship. It just so happens that there's a long-standing aspect of law enforcement where the dog and human relationship is already built-in: The K-9 unit.
You've likely seen numerous buddy cop movies, and even a handful of K-9 films. However, those movies tend to lean heavily on the comedy aspects of man's best friend fighting bad guys. Witness the old Rin Tin Tin series, or the films "K-9" and "Turner & Hooch," for starters. Even last year's Channing Tatum vehicle with the world's most inspired title, "Dog," milked its military mutt more for melodrama than action.
That all changes with "Muzzle," a new film from director John Stalberg Jr. that stars Aaron Eckhart as K-9 cop Jake Rosser. When Jake loses his pup partner, Ace, after a deadly shootout with drug dealers, he...

This is the latest film directed by a filmmaker named John Stalberg Jr., who first made his mark with the stoner comedy High School back in 2010. How's this for a wild pitch: LAPD K-9 officer Jake Rosser and his K-9 partner Ace battle it out on the streets of LA when they get into a shootout with local gangsters and Ace is shot. In a moment of crisis, Jake assaults an Emt, resulting in him taking leave from the force. Blocked by Internal Affairs, muzzled by his own superiors from finding the shooter's identity, Jake resolves to go rogue and partners with “Socks”, a violent K-9 with titanium incisors and a mysterious past. Jake and Socks uncover a vast conspiracy that has a chokehold on the city,...

Jack is being flown to exotic locations around the world to cook special meals for ridiculously rich people. Odd as it may sound, neither of them is happy; they both wish that they could swap places. R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned may be the most unexpected sequel in recent memory, and in a year that’s seen Eraser: Reborn and Blade of the 47 Ronin that’s saying a lot. The 2013 original was a Men in Black style action comedy that featured Ryan Reynolds as a ghostly cop protecting the living from undead threats. It was also an expensive flop, the kind studios want to forget, not make sequels, or in this case, prequels, to.
Set in 1876, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is the story of Sheriff Roy Pulsipher, played by Jeff Bridges in the original and Jeffrey Donovan this time around. Here he’s meeting his daughter Charlotte and her fiance Angus at the train station when a robbery occurs and he’s killed in a shootout.

When asked about R.I.P.D., Jeff Bridges said he was “a little underwhelmed” after finally watching the 2013 movie. “The studio made some, uh, choices that I wouldn’t have made,” he added. Bridges’ colorful performance was praised, but that was as much positivity critics could muster about this misfire of a comic-book adaptation. Adding insult to injury was the box-office report; Robert Schwentke’s action-comedy cost Universal 130 million and failed to break even. Despite the first movie’s failings, Universal went ahead with a sequel. Nine years later. It’s standard to dust off, kick around and spruce up old IPs these days, but surely no one was expecting another go at the Dark Horse comic book, much less one worse than the first attempt.
Like in the first movie, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned follows the otherworldly misadventures of two officers from the Rest in Peace Department. The most remarkable change here,...

R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is a Western directed by Paul Leyden, starring Jeffrey Donovan and Penelope Mitchell.
A blend of the wild west with a more mystical supernatural dimension.
Premise
When Sheriff Roy Pulsipher finds himself in the afterlife, he joins a special police force and returns to Earth to save humanity from the undead.
R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned About the Movie
A rather banal production that might have an audience. It is difficult to foresee.
Bordering the B movie category, this is a feature that will neither be remembered nor leave a mark. The characters are unconvincing, the gimmicks are bad, but at the same time it is harmless entertainment.
Enjoy.

"That was unexpected." Universal All-Access has revealed a short trailer for a direct-to-video sequel titled R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned. Yes, they decided to make a sequel to R.I.P.D., the wacky supernatural action movie from 2013 that ended up bombing when it opened. Considering it took them almost 9 years to make this sequel, it seems to be a cash grab move for the studio, bringing back an existing IP for more "content" instead of making anything new. Like Back to the Future Part III, this sequel is set in the Old West in 1876. The Wild West has gone to Hell, literally, and the world's best hope of being saved lies in the gun-slinging hands of Sheriff Roy Pulsipher as he becomes the newest officer for the Rest In Peace Department enforcing the afterlife's laws. Jeffrey Donovan stars with Penelope Mitchell, Jake Choi, Richard Brake, and Kerry Knuppe. At least the trailer is free to watch,...

A little under a decade ago, Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges starred in Ripd: Rest in Peace Department, a supernatural action-comedy which followed a murdered cop who joined an afterlife law enforcement department to apprehend monsters disguised as humans on Earth. Unfortunately, the film was a box-office bomb, grossing just 78 million worldwide on a 130 million budget. It also received overwhelmingly negative reviews, which made it all the more confusing when a sequel came out of nowhere earlier this year. Universal Pictures have released a brief trailer for Ripd 2: Rise of the Damned, which you can check out above.
The Ripd 2 trailer reveals that the sequel is actually a prequel, taking place in the Old West and focusing on Sheriff Roy Pulsipher, the character played by Jeff Bridges in the first movie. The prequel finds Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) taking on the role of Roy, and he’s joined by...

One of the biggest box office bombs of the 2010s is getting a sequel in the form of "R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned." Yes, really, and we even have a trailer to prove that nobody is having their leg pulled. The folks at Universal Pictures thought there might be enough of an audience for this, nearly a decade after the original Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges two-hander lost a boatload of money (to the point where Reynolds re-thought his entire career). And they even got an actual known actor to take on the lead role in the form of Jeffrey Donovan ("Burn Notice").
Now, it is really important to point out that this is a direct-to-video sequel, meaning they presumably spent a whole lot less money on it. That is just about the only way in which a sequel to a bomb this big makes any sense.

This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Episode 6
It’s hard to believe that Star Trek: Picard season 2 has passed its halfway point. The series is now set to start answering all of its biggest mysteries. In the process, “Two of One” is both a nail-biter and a break for the crew. Everyone’s undercover at a party in 2024, but they’re also all trying to keep anyone from messing with Jean-Luc’s ancestor Renée Picard (Penelope Mitchell).
Of all the contemporary Star Trek episodes post-2017, “Two of One,” may have the fewest verbal and visual Easter eggs and canonical references to the bigger franchise. And yet, there are a few huge moments that connect it to the bigger tapestry of Star Trek. Here are five of the biggest Easter eggs and deep cuts in Picard’s “Two of One.”

The following contains Star Trek: Picard spoilers
Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Episode 6
Any episode of Star Trek: Picard that features the La Sirena crew gussied up in formal wear, finds an excuse for a random musical interlude, and features Patrick Stewart giving a heartfelt pep talk to a young woman doubting her own strength is automatically going to be an instant classic in my book. Is “Two for One” a perfect hour? Nope. Does everything that happens in it even fully make sense? Not really! But, this episode is full of that magical alchemy of heart and hope that is so purely Star Trek that it’s impossible to look away from, even during its most head-scratching moments.
Of course, the setting helps a great deal. Picard and friends must infiltrate a swanky gala that’s taking place to honor the Europa mission astronauts, which naturally involves a complicated plan...

Starring Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), The Hyperions is a fun indie superhero comedy with a retro vibe.
In 1960, Professor Ruckus Mandulbaum invented the Titan badge - a device that enables humans to have a particular super power. He took in three down-on-their-luck youths, creating an unusual family of superheroes and they quickly rose to fame and prestige. Over time, however, the commercial family fractured and the Professor replaced the team with a new set of super hero teens. Cut to 1979 when two of the original superheroes are all grown up and wanting their Titan badges back, even if it means robbing the Professor's museum and taking a few hostages accidentally.

After its initial showing, the film will be available exclusively for Daily Wire members to stream on its website.
According to the conservative media company, their debut original, the action thriller Shut In, recently drew more than 500,000 viewers in its first 72 hours across YouTube and its own website. The popularity of that launch inspired a repeat of the model, the company has told us.
“The Hyperions is one of the most creative films I’ve seen,” said Daily Wire co-ceo Jeremy Boreing. “It’s an ingenious comedy you can enjoy with your family and friends. We have always wanted to give it the largest possible audience and can’t wait to premiere it next week on YouTube for movie fans and our members.

Hellboy, formerly known as Hellboy: The Blood Queen, is directed by Game of Thrones alumni and Dog Soldiers director Neil Marshall. It stands as a complete reboot of the franchise after Guillermo del Toro’s cult classic duology that failed to light the box office with disappointing returns. Gone is Ron Perlman as the titular character and replacing the iconic actor is Stranger Things star David Harbour, so at least it has that going for it, right?
This reboot of Hellboy is lifeless and soulless. The acting, from newcomer to the franchise, Sasha Lane is dreadful; meanwhile star David Harbour fails to bring any form of charisma or charm for a character that should be the epitome of sarcasm.

Standards are pretty high for horror movies in 2019. Despite what some mainstream movie websites might tell you, there have been many, many, great horrors in the last five years. Every year there seems to be more original and fantastic films. So it’s great to watch something like Look Away with no idea what it is about and no expectations; because more often than not, I’m impressed.
Look Away is one of those clever films that clearly has plenty of influences and it wears those influences on its sleeve but still manages to feel very fresh. Those influences mainly coming of age movies, from Carrie to Ginger Snaps to Let The Right One In – you can probably see the link. There...

Maria (India Eisley) is a lonely 18-year-old high school student, who after feeling rejected by her family and tormented by her peers, begins to communicate with her reflection in the mirror – only here the girl in the mirror is more than just a reflection. It is a girl called Airam and she is able to communicate back. Airam is initially supportive towards Maria, who has become increasingly withdrawn, and offers her a solution to her torment. She has the confidence to say what Maria is thinking, the drive to get what she wants, but there is also an ulterior motive and a more sinister side to Airam.
Look Away is a slow brooding psychological thriller from writer-director Assaf Bernstein, which plays out differently to what you may initially expect, moving away from the more obvious concept of a demon in the mirror. A concept we have seen in various forms...

This is the stuff that I was really hoping that we’d see in the movie! Why didn’t they just release this video at the very beginning!? It even features our first footage of Thomas Haden Church as Lobster Johnson. Well, it’s here now and you can enjoy it below!

"My job is: protect the world from boogie monsters!" With the movie opening in theaters later this week, Lionsgate has launched one final red band trailer for the new Hellboy movie, directed by Neil Marshall. This fresh reboot of the live-action Hellboy series re-casts the main role, with David Harbour playing the big red guy with horns and a stone arm. This final trailer really plays up the hard-r rating, with excessive violence and gore and language throughout. But is the movie any good? You'll have to see it this weekend and find out. The full cast includes Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, Sasha Lane, Thomas Haden Church, Penelope Mitchell, Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson, and Kristina Klebe. Who's planning to go? Anyone? Likely Hellboy fans only. Here's the third & final red band trailer (+ a featurette) for Neil Marshall's Hellboy, direct from YouTube: You can still watch the...

We’ve got another Hellboy promo spot for you to check out today, and this one puts the focus on the big supporting characters in the film. These characters include Hellboy’s other B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research & Defense) teammates such as Ben Daimio (Daniel Dae Kim) and Alice Monaghan (Sasha Lane).
The video gives us a great look at Daimio transforming into a jaguar, while Monaghan has the ability to look beyond the veil and communicate with the dead and other powers. This film will be the first time that we’ve seen this characters adapted for the big screen.
The Hellboy reboot is being directed by Neil Marshall and stars David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Milla Jovovich as the Nimue the Blood Queen, and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, a witch who has decided that the Blood Queen's wrath has gone on for too long.

The hype for the upcoming Hellboy reboot seems to be building, and the hype is sure to keep growing as fans continue to like what they are seeing from the movie.
Today we’ve got some more stuff to share with you! We’ve got a new clip for you to watch called “Ready For the Hunt,” and Hellboy (David Harbour) is being shown some weapons used to battle evil throughout the ages.
I’ve also included a bunch of new photos from the film, some of which feature some of the monsters that will see in the film like the Gruagach, whom you’ll see Hellboy facing off with in one of the images. There are also some sinister-looking demons! The monster designs that I’m seeing here are pretty awesome!
