From one 1999 horror remake to another. After rewatching The Haunting with eyes that were both more critical and 25 years older, it got me thinking about the other remake that came out that year. One that was a remake of a far sillier movie and that was the first effort from a new studio, namely Dark Castle Entertainment. The original was from a far less dark castle in that of schlock and gimmick purveyor William Castle and it starred Vincent Price as a man offering strangers money to stay in an allegedly haunted house for a night. While The Haunting failed on multiple levels to improve with age, how does House on Haunted Hill (watch it Here) look after a quarter of a century? Does its cheesy yet graphic tone feel at home in the time of A24 and elevated horror or should it forfeit its 1 million dollar check and leave the cursed grounds forever.

It’s Monday so you know what that means, it’s time for our weekly review of Aew: Rampage! This week’s show aired straight after Collision on Saturday night and, like that show, emanated from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Candaa. This show featured Tony Schiavone, Nigel McGuinness and Matt Menard on commentary. Now let’s get to the review…
Match #1: Trent Beretta def. Dalton Castle The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Castle threw Trent to the mat with a gut wrench. Dalton cracked Trent with a running knee strike, knocking Trent off the apron to the floor. Trent spiked Dalton with a draping Ddt on the apron. Trent and Dalton collided into one another with lariats, both falling to the mat from the impact of the double clotheslines. Dalton Castle slammed Trent to the mat with a gut wrench suplex. Trent fired back with a piledriver for a near fall.

To choose emotion over action is how madness lies, or at least that's how it seems when it comes to television ratings in this Golden Age of procedurals.
It is rare to see a drama series deviate from by-the-numbers plots featuring by-the-book law enforcement characters because networks opt to make spinoffs within that formula rather than create new shows outside of it.
Someone apparently forgot to tell AMC because their deliciously non-formulaic series Interview With the Vampire is set to return for a highly-anticipated second season on May 12.
One could argue that this television series is a twice-over spinoff of Anne Rice's 1976 novel, the source material of the 1994 theatrical film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst.
A better take might be to acknowledge how well this adaptation updates the original story to satisfy fans from both back in the day and now.

Actor Nathan Fillion had just completed his run as Castle when he was cast in The Rookie. But he admitted he sometimes found it hard to leave his Castle character behind when doing the hit ABC series.
Nathan Fillion’s ‘Castle’ habits died hard Nathan Fillion | Nicole Wilder/Getty Images
It might’ve taken a while for Fillion to truly shake off Richard Castle for The Rookie. In the ABC series, Fillion found himself in somewhat familiar territory. Like Castle, The Rookie saw Fillion’s character, John Nolan, solving crimes. So it might’ve been easy to channel Rick Castle from time to time, even after the show’s end.
But personality-wise, Castle and Nolan couldn’t have been any more different. Rick Castle was a mystery writer who tagged along with police officers, many times unwelcomed, for his own amusement at first. The character also didn’t always take...

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).
With the Anti-Monitor on the loose, a whole host of heroes assemble to save the Multiverse, but it looks like that will be easier said than done when they also have Lex Luthor to contend with. Several other villains are also spotted, including The Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face.
In terms of cameos, the trailer ends with another Batman: The Animated Series tease. Batman Beyond also appears, but perhaps the biggest surprise comes when we return to the world of the Super Friends!
The Saturday morning cartoon aired between 1973 and 1985 on ABC and was produced by Hanna-Barbera. That classic animation style returns here and we're hoping the movie has even...

If you watch enough procedural dramas, you might believe that every partnership leads to romance. It happened to Richard Castle and Kate Beckett on Castle, Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan on Bones, and even Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon on The Mentalist. A slow-burning romance always makes for a good storyline.
CBS' Blue Bloods, which is now leading viewers to say goodbye to the Reagan family and everyone close to them, is no exception. Jamie Reagan and his wife, Eddie Janko, started out as business partners and ended up as a family. As good as their story was, fans don't want to see a rip-off.
Will Danny and Baez End Up Together?
One thing that eventually kills any procedural that has been on the air for too long is constant repetition. By the time the writers reach a certain point, they feel like they have told every story in the...

There are two types of people who enjoy crime dramas: some prefer their shows to be brooding and dark, the gorier the better, while others tend to enjoy the mystery element mixed with a heartwarming comedy. Elsbeth is a sure-fire hit for the second group, but it's not the only show you might want to check out.
Here are 8 other shows that will give you as much pleasure as Elsbeth without having to wait weeks to see a new episode.
White Collar (2009-2014)
Starring Matt Bomer as charismatic con man Neal Caffrey, the show follows his journey to become a great detective after getting out of prison in exchange for helping the FBI's White Collar Crimes Unit. The show is light-hearted, yet features some of the best crime cases you will ever see on television. Plus, there is a chance that it will get a reboot soon enough!

Actor Nathan Fillion didn’t take long to find work in The Rookie after Castle‘s 2016 cancellation. Looking back on the way the series ended, Fillion might’ve been just as disappointed in it as some of the show’s fans.

After making some minor appearances in major MCU projects, Charlie Cox is finally getting his own MCU show with Daredevil: Born Again. The series promises to be a thrilling return of The Man Without Fear in all his glory following the huge success of the previous 3 seasons of the Netflix Daredevil series.

Along with Cox, many of his castmates are returning including Deborah Ann Woll and Jon Bernthal. Many set photos from the show were circulated online recently and it seems the cast is aware of them. Daredevil has truly been born again, as more set photos from the upcoming miniseries have emerged. But it’s not just Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock that we’re getting a glimpse of, it’s Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle aka Punisher.
In one photo (courtesy of the Daredevil Updates social media account), we see a suited-up Daredevil alongside Castle as the two look off camera to unseen terror. A main draw here might be the shot of Daredevil’s suit, which we previously saw in other set pics but can now see from a different angle and alongside yet another character. More photos also show The Punisher solo, giving a better look at his own get-up, although he does seem a little more reserved than we might be used to of the character. Bernthal first turned up as Castle in the second season of the 2015-2018 Netflix series.

The Protector of Hell’s Kitchen is all set to return to the screens after a long time with Daredevil: Born Again. Yet, as happy with anticipation about his return as fans are, some of the updates about the upcoming show aren’t making it seem all too appreciable, especially the most recent potential spoiler about an MCU hero.
Daredevil: Born Again
As it seems according to recent reports, there are chances that a major hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whom fans had been waiting to see for so long, just might end up dying in the most bothersome way possible. And fans won’t be happy about it if this comes true, considering how the hero in the talk is none other than the fan-favorite White Tiger, aka Hector Ayala.

Actors Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic were once reportedly at odds with each other on the set of Castle. Neither have corroborated the reports. But if there’s one thing the two actors didn’t see eye-to-eye on, it was the relationship between the characters.
Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic had opposite views of their ‘Castle’ characters getting together Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion | Richard Cartwright/Getty Images
Back in the earlier years of Castle, the series was known to play up the romantic tension between Fillion’s and Katic’s characters. The two led completely different lives before crossing paths. Fillion’s Richard Castle was a crime novelist, whereas Katic’s Kate Beckett was a real-life officer. When Castle started investigating crimes alongside Kate, he sometimes proved to be a valuable asset to the police. This led to Castle gradually earning both the character’s respect and attention over time.

Actor Nathan Fillion has worked with a few notable guest stars during his time with The Rookie cast. But there was one guest star who he surprised with his new attitude.

Fillion has been a part of some of television’s most critically praised shows. Before The Rookie, he was known for playing millionaire author Richard Castle in the titular series Castle. Many of Fillion’s former Castle co-stars have made small appearances on The Rookie, from Jon Huertas to Tamala Jones.

February––particularly its third week––is all about romance. Accordingly the Criterion Channel got creative with their monthly programming and, in a few weeks, will debut Interdimensional Romance, a series of films wherein “passion conquers time and space, age and memory, and even death and the afterlife.” For every title you might’ve guessed there’s a wilder companion: Alan Rudolph’s Made In Heaven, Soderbergh’s remake, and Resnais’ Love Unto Death. Mostly I’m excited to revisit Francis Ford Coppola’s Youth Without Youth, a likely essential viewing before Megalopolis.
February also marks Black History Month, and Criterion’s series will include work by Shirley Clarke (also subject of a standalone series), Garrett Bradley, Cheryl Dunye, and Julie Dash, while movies by Sirk, Minnelli, King Vidor, and Lang play in “Gothic Noir.” Greta Gerwig gets an “Adventures in Moviegoing” and can be seen in Mary Bronstein’s Yeast,...

Back in the late 90’s, early 2000s the horror genre was in that weird phase of encapsulating what it truly wanted to be. Hot off the heels of Scream, horror movies focused much more on the teenage angst, and lifestyle. But there comes a time when some hidden gems make their way to the silver screen that branch off the beaten path with a more adult-themed tale, drenched in psychological/mental horror. What if one day you’re living your average life, working your 9-5, and suddenly black, out only to wake up, institutionalized and accused of committing a crime you can’t seem to remember doing? “I think one of the main reasons why I’m such a hardcore follower of Viral Marketing is because it’s a gimmick that manages to involve audiences in the film they’re anticipating, and the internet has introduced many methods of interaction with audiences to films they’re looking forward to, and I think it’s a wonderful throwback to William Castle, whose own showmanship was such a form of P.T. “Fraiser” is back for the first time in nearly 20 years, with Kelsey Grammar’s titular character returning to a TV industry entirely transformed — which means you won’t find the new series airing on its old network home, NBC.
In fact, you won’t find the sitcom on broadcast TV. The new “Frasier” series is headed straight to streaming, which means there are lots of changes in tow — and not just the distributor.
From the smaller episode count to the cast full of new faces, here’s everything you need to know about the “Frasier” reboot, where to watch it and when to expect new episodes.
Where is the new “Frasier” series streaming?
“Frasier” Episodes 1 and 2 are now streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
How many episodes are in the “Frasier” reboot?
Another sign of the streaming era, the new season of “Frasier” is only 10 episodes long. All 11 seasons of the original series had standard 24-episode seasons.

In John Carpenter's 1978 film "Halloween," the masked killer Michael Myers was played by multiple actors. For the bulk of his scenes, Michael — called "The Shape" — was played by Nick Castle, a film school friend of Carpenter's and a director in his own right. Castle also directed "The Last Starfighter" and "The Boy Who Could Fly." As a small boy, Michael Myers was played, in one scene, by an actor named Will Sandin in his first and last role on screen. In Pov shots, the hands of young Michael were provided by co-writer and producer Debra Hill, while the unmasked Michael — who appears only briefly at the very end of the movie — was played by Tony Moran.
Castle had the lion's share of screen time, however, and is generally thought of as the "official" Michael Myers by "Halloween" fans the world over. Castle would reprise the role for David Gordon Green...

With both Disney and Warner Bros. turning 100 this year, it’s a great time to remember the Golden Age of moviemaking. The business is changing at a precipitous rate, and recent studio mergers have forever altered the longtime map of Hollywood production.
Actors and crew members, like armies, march on their stomachs, and since the dawn of the industry, it’s been up to the studios where they’re shooting to keep them well fortified. Studio executives and office workers, too, needed a convenient place to eat on the lots.
While researching the recent Culinary Historians presentation “Lunching on the Lot,” a 1997 quote from Variety story turned up which deftly explained what studio commissaries meant to the business. “After a gourmet tour of studio eateries, however, one thing is clear — It ain’t the chow that’s important. When the tribe hunkers down for its daily repast, ritual and symbolism are the rule.

General Hospital veteran John J. York announced earlier this month that he’d be taking a hiatus from the ABC daytime soap — and now we know why.
York revealed that he’s dealing with some serious health issues in a video he shared on social media on Wednesday: “I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or Mds, and [smoldering multiple] myeloma, two blood and bone marrow disorders. Over the past many months, I’ve had three bone marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments — I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks — and I’m closing in on a blood stem cell transplant.

"There are two kinds of folks who sit around thinking about how to kill people: psychopaths and mystery writers. I'm the kind that pays better."
And with those words, the ABC series Castle (2009-2016) became one of our favorite shows. It was witty, amusing, and heartfelt. It was a show with a unique talent for making murder fun.
The two lead characters, writer Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, and Detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, had sexual chemistry so hot it could melt your screen.
But the show lost its luster somewhere between the wildly entertaining Castle Season 1 and the slog that was Castle Season 8. It wasn’t one big thing -- well, maybe there was one big thing -- but a lot of little missteps and missed opportunities that disappointed fans over the years.

When people think of Frank Castle on the silver screen, actors like Jon Bernthal and Dolph Lundgren come to mind. However, the late Ray Stevenson‘s portrayal in Lexi Alexander’s 2008 crime-drama Punisher: War Zone hides in the shadows of the character’s cinematic history. The film was planned as a sequel to 2004’s The Punisher, starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta. War Zone picks up five years into the anti-hero’s journey into darkness, with Frank encountering his most significant threat in the villain Jigsaw, played by Dominic West.
Jonathan Hensleigh, who directed The Punisher, was supposed to return with Jane reprising the title role. However, setbacks kept the film from progressing, with Hensleigh and Jane hard-quitting the project out of frustration. Jane expressed his exasperation by saying, “What I won’t do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie I don’t believe in. I...

The conclusion of season 2 of The Afterparty has brought us much amusement. The series follows the dynamic between an ordinary individual and a detective (now an ex-detective in season 2) as they team up to unravel murder mysteries. It’s a unique blend of comedy and detective procedural, a combination that works surprisingly well. While there aren’t many shows that precisely fit this mold, we believe most of the ones we’ve listed are strong contenders for different reasons. Many of these series are nostalgic, and reflecting on them now, we’re tempted to revisit them. Since some of these shows span over five seasons, they offer a substantial amount of entertainment. ‘ We’ve hand-picked some shows with dynamic duos that will keep you entertained, much like Danner and Aniq, who rely on their wit and humor to crack cases in The Afterparty.

The BBC revealed it has received complaints about its coverage of the 2023 Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz .
In the thrilling Wimbledon finale between 23-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic and 20-year-old Alcaraz, the match reached boiling point as the game entered its fifth set.
