It’s the final episode of the current series of Guff, and we’ve brought you a chunky Batman special to celebrate the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Within you’ll find a rambling and honest discussion of the entire Warner Bros. Batman Saga, from Tim Burton’s quirky rendition through to the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s drastic reinvention of the franchise.
Expect debates surrounding gratuitous misuse of Prince, George Clooney’s allegedly homosexual portrayal of Bruce Wayne and the long running question over who deserves to be crowned as king of the Jokers – Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger. We also discuss Michael Keaton’s hair
Warning: Guff features strong language, incredibly poor celebrity impersonations and Dark Knight Rises Spoilers – You have been warned !

Guff triumphantly returns with the latest news, reviews and a countdown of the UK video game top ten. It’s all primed and ready to be picked apart and fondled ever so delicately by our not-so-expert team of seasoned geeks.
In the latest episode, Cyanide’s RPG based on the hugely successful fantasy epic ‘Game of Thrones’ is discussed along with other previous attempts to bring TV shows to game consoles. We also weigh in on the controversy surrounding ‘Tomb Raider’ and ask which taboos are still to be crossed by games, and if the industry should have equal freedom to other forms of media.
You’ll also find the usual light serving of movie chat, with our impressions of the latest trailers for Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘The Master’, and Universal’s ‘The Bourne Legacy’. Other films featured include ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ and ‘American Reunion’.

It’s an extra chunky E3 special this week, with all of the latest announcements from Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony all being discussed throughout the show. As well as this year’s big games like Halo 4, ZombiU and Beyond: Two Souls, there’s also much debate surrounding this years featured tech – including Nintendo’s Wii U and Microsoft SmartGlass.
You’ll also find a smattering of movie chat squeezed in this week, with the release of the highly anticipated ‘Prometheus’ provoking some mixed feelings within the group. Perhaps not quite as majorly hyped, but still worthy of discussion, there’s also a brief review of Men in Black 3.

With the hugely successful release of Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 come mixed feelings over the changes made to the series after a nine year absence. The release of Max Payne 3 also brings with it a vehicular tease for Grand Theft Auto V, while other topics of discussion include a unique take on pre-order incentives from Square Enix, with Hitman Sniper Challenge.
This week’s episode also includes a dose of movie chat, with a review of the relentlessly action packed The Raid. There’s also some speculation over the tantalising teaser trailers for Skyfall and Anchorman 2.

This week we offer up some early impressions of Black Ops 2’s cliché ridden trailer as well as some speculation over Microsoft’s patent for a pressure sensitive super-controller. We also delve into the latest teaser trailer for Assassins Creed 3 and explore why the series is both loved and hated in equal measure.
From the near future to the grand days of yore, this week’s episode also features a rambling tribute to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise and a happy birthday to Nintendo’s GameCube – having recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The first in a new series of fortnightly podcasts, What Culture’s Stephen Leigh is joined by his equally contemptible flunkies to discuss the latest gaming news and rundown the UK Top Ten.
This week’s topics include New Super Mario Bros 2, Microsoft’s controversial advertising plans and Max Payne’s Brazilian adventure. Also, the death of Jack Bauer, FemShep woes and prawn flavoured squeezy cheese. Have a listen below and excuse us for any unproffesionalism with it being our very first recording of our new show.

Ok so this guy isn’t getting as much kudos as the guy who remade the Grand Theft Auto V trailer with his copy of San Andreas simply because the other guy managed his impressive feat just a few days after the trailer hit but still, this is another fine redo of the GTA V ad. But this is still a fine and very entertaining effort.
This time it has been remade within Grand Theft Auto 4 game engine and comes courtesy of the GTA V Blog. Watch the trailer below and try and see how it relates;
Here’s the Gtv V trailer which I’m sure you have seen a thousand times by now;
Now we are just waiting for the day somebody tries to remake the trailer with Grand Theft Auto 3 (which would be difficult) and then Grand Theft Auto 1, which obviously would be impossible!!

Our eagle eyed writer Stephen Leigh spotted yesterday a jetski in the trailer for Grand Theft Auto V had the name ‘Speedophile’ written on it, a term which has now started to trend online and on twitter and which may cause a considerable headache to Rockstar Games somewhere down the road.
The reason?
Well it’s been reported that The Federal Court of Australia has ordered one central coast blogger, Dave Evans, to shut down a number of his websites (which were deemed pornographic or ‘salacious’) because they featured Speedo branded swimming costumes and domain names. Evans had taken out several domains with the word ‘Speedo’ included and many of them featured men in Speedo briefs alongside pornographic images that caught Speedo’s attention as they deemed them offensive. His sites contained paid subscription services.
Speedo claimed Evans was infringing trademark agreement that threatened their company’s “valuable reputation and...

Stephen Leigh at WhatCulture! offers us “10 Reasons Why Horror Might Be The Best Film Genre”... but his first reason suggests that he’s less interested in film as a means of telling stories than he is in film as an experience: They’re The Best Date Movies Forget saggy, fluffy rom-coms like Friends with Benefits – which are designed to please both sexes to an inoffensively satisfactory degree. Couples looking to have a truly great time together at the cinema – or even at home – are best off with a terrifying horror movie. It’s guaranteed that your loved one will look for comfort and reassurance, while the jumpy moments and building tension will have you both holding each other tight. Although be warned, picking the wrong kind of horror film can backfire – or worse – result in tears and sleepless nights. Going on a date to see a late night screening of...

A 1999 demo promoting the ruinously expensive Shenmue (called “What’s Shenmue?”) featured an exclusive scene in which then company president Yukawa-san could be seen slumped at his desk, head in hands, surrounded by piles of unsold consoles (above). Deep down, Sega must have known the Dreamcast didn’t stand a chance even before they axed it two years later.
Even though the Sega Dreamcast enjoyed a relatively short lifespan (officially somewhere between its 1998 Japanese launch and late 2002 termination) and wasn’t supported at all by the most powerful publisher of the day (Electronic Arts) the well-loved machine still boasts an impressive library of titles.
Even extending this “best of” list, from the originally planned 10 to a whopping 30 games, has seen me leave out such gems as cult top-down shooter Ikaruga, well-regarded sports sim NHL 2K2, online deathmatch game Outtrigger, stylish BioWare-made shooter MDK2 and Street Fighter III: Double Impact (to...
