Strictly Come Dancing fans are heartbroken following the announcement that Len Goodman has died at age 78.
The former ballroom dancer was the head judge on the BBC One programme from its launch in 2003 until his departure in 2016.
He also served the same role on the American equivalent, Dancing with the Stars, from its 2005 premiere to 2022.
Since the news of Goodman’s death was announced on Monday (24 April), tributes have poured in from fans and friends, including his former Strictly co-worker Craig Revel Horwood.
Across both series, Goodman was highly respected by his colleagues and loved by viewers. Here are se-ven! of his best moments.
“Pickle me walnuts”

The former ballroom dancer was the head judge on the BBC One programme from its launch in 2003 until his departure in 2016.
He also served the same role on the American equivalent, Dancing with the Stars, from its 2005 premiere to 2022.
Since the news of Goodman’s death was announced on Monday (24 April), tributes have poured in from fans and friends, including his former Strictly co-worker Craig Revel Horwood.
Across both series, Goodman was highly respected by his colleagues and loved by viewers. Here are se-ven! of his best moments.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice has shut down rumours of a rift with his celebrity partner Richie Anderson.
The Italian dancer and reigning Strictly champion hit the dance floor with the BBC Radio 2 presenter for the first time on Saturday (24 September). You can find out more about Anderson here.
The couple performed a lively Cha Cha Cha to “I’m Your Man” by Wham!, but subsequent tabloid reports had claimed that Pernice was growing “frustrated” with Anderson “talking instead of listening” during rehearsals.
Appearing on Strictly’s sister programme It Takes Two on Wednesday (28 September), Pernice was asked by host Janette Manrara how they were enjoying rehearsals.
“We’re having a good time, we’re definitely having a good time,” Pernice said. “Obviously, it’s a dance competition at the end of the day, so we have to learn something.”

Dust off your sequins and feathers because BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” has revealed the first celebrity contestants for this year’s two-step extravaganza.
Among the first names to be revealed are comedian Robert Webb, best known as one-half of “Peep Show” double act Mitchell and Webb, and McFly singer Tom Fletcher.
“Big Brother’s Bit on the Side” presenter Aj Odudu is also set to twirl under the disco-ball alongside “Great British Bake-Off” winner John Whaite, who will make history by competing as part of the show’s first-ever all-male partnership.
“I’m so grateful, excited, and nervous to be joining the Strictly 2021 family,” Whaite said. “I’ve been wearing sequins and jazzy attire since I was three years old and can’t wait to hurl myself, full throttle, around the most glamorous dance floor on earth. Last week on “So You Think You Can Dance” when the Top 8 performed, I feared that contemporary dancer Benjamin Castro and his hip-hop partner Anna Linstruth were going to be in trouble when it was revealed they were doing a Polynesian routine. Such ethnic choreography –including Bollywood and African — doesn’t always feel authentic when done by those who are not familiar with that style.
Sure enough, the pair had to say goodbye by the end of the episode.
But during Top 8 week there was another equally dicey pitfall that was awaiting contemporary contestant Madison Jordan and her ballroom partner Ezra Sosa — namely, disco. This style of choreography not only can it seem dated but also has so many intricate lifts and spins that dancers have been known to be injured and not just by an overdose of sequins.

Peter Andre has been left fighting for his place in 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The former popstar placed last on Saturday's (28.11.15) show and while the judges had some positive comments for him and partner Janette Manrara, they still found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with 31 points after their American Smooth. Darcey Bussell said: ''It had charm with an impressive one-handed lift but looked careful in places'', while Bruno Tonioli added: ''Shoulders came up and lost the mood, otherwise great.'' Len Goodman said: ''Your performance was really good. I enjoyed watching the pair of you dance.'' Despite the largely positive...

Janette Manrara will do ''everything she can'' to get Peter Andre to the 'Strictly Come Dancing' final. The professional dancer is partnered with the 'Mysterious Girl' hitmaker on the current series of the BBC One celebrity dance contest and is determined to see him reach the final. She said: ''Pete deserves to be in the final and I'll do everything I can do get him there.'' Peter, 42, previously confessed he was worried his busy schedule would prevent him from winning the competition, but Janette believes they can do it together. The 'Mysterious Girl' singer - who is partnered by Janette Manrara - is amazed he can confidently play a concert in front of thousands of fans yet when it comes to the more intimate setting of the show's dancefloor, he is riddled with anxiety. He said: ''One of my downfalls in my nerves. ''I'm working on that because that inhibits me giving it my all. ''I play the O2 Arena and don't get nervous, but with this I am... 1. Katie Derham & Anton Du Beke dancing the paso doble to 'Phantom of the Opera' by Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman: 4+6+6+5=21
Len: "The problem is you're like an English rose and the paso is a cactus, sharp aggressive and spiky. It doesn't really suit your personality. I got the willies at one time when I thought you would use the wrong foot. It wasn't great, Kate - I wish it was."
Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Strictly Come Dancing pro Aljaz Skorjanec has dismissed reports that Helen George is the "bitchiest contestant ever".
The rumours, which emerged at the weekend, suggested that the Call the Midwife star had a "superior attitude" and was causing complaints with her behaviour.
But her professional partner Aljaz rubbished the gossip, writing in his blog for Ok! that the comments had upset Helen.
"I saw the reports about Helen, claiming that she's not very nice on the show, and she was a little thrown off by it," he said. "But we had a really good chat and she knows it's not true. She knows it's just a silly article in the press.
"Everyone that is a part of Strictly knows that. There's no reassurance needed, she's so nice to everyone and I just think it's crazy for someone to ever think that of such a kind and friendly woman."

Peter Andre has already proved he can move on the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor, but that doesn't mean he knows anything about the dances.
This week the singer has been assigned the Rumba with his professional partner Janette Manrara, but admitted he's got no idea what the dance is.
He said on This Morning: "I'm doing the Rumba this week, I have no idea what it is, but it sounds great! After this is my first rehearsal."
Andre also admitted Strictly Come Dancing is the most nerve-wracking thing he's ever done.
"The nerves you have on the show is something I've never experienced before. You don't want to get anything wrong but it's great fun.
"And you know when they say the woman is always right? In this case she [Janette Manrara] is!"
He was awarded an impressive 32 points for his Tango last weekend, so we'll have to see if he can top that with the Rumba.

Craig Revel Horwood has sung the praises of Peter Andre on this series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Speaking on Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show, the BBC judge also called Helen George an "amazing dancer".
Andre, partnered with Janette Manrara, topped the first week, while George has been one of the best performers according to the judges' scores as well.
"We're loving it," said Horwood. "It's really great this year - we've got some amazing people. Peter Andre is standing out as one of them.
"Peter is very, very good. Helen is also an amazing dancer.
"When you consider how long they actually have to learn to dance - they have three weeks - it's incredible how quickly everyone's picked it up."
Horwood also called 2006 winner Mark Ramprakash his most memorable contestant.
"We've had some amazing people on the show since it started," he commented.

Peter Andre will be donning the eyeliner on Saturday for Strictly Come Dancing, when he'll transform into Jack Sparrow for Movie Week.
The 'Mysterious Girl' singer isn't sure what he'll be dancing yet, but it's set to take on a Pirates of the Caribbean theme.
Strictly Come Dancing 2015 winner: We rank the celebrities' chances of topping BBC One's dance-off
"All I know is who I'm going to be. I'm very, very excited because I'm going to be Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and I cannot wait," Andre exclusively told Digital Spy.
"I'm so excited about it that I just want to give it my all. It's going to be good fun," he added.
Andre and his dancing partner Janette Manrara scored 30 on Saturday's show with their quickstep to 'Valerie'.
Following the weekend shows, former pro James Jordan suggested that Andre might be enjoying an unfair advantage over other contestants.

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan has suggested that show bosses are giving Peter Andre an unfair advantage on this year's show.
Andre and his partner Janette Manrara have stormed the first two weeks of the competition, scoring 30 points apiece for their Cha-Cha-Cha and quickstep.
The pair performed last on night two of the first week of the show, and were second last to take to the stage on Saturday night before Call the Midwife's Helen George and her partner Aljaž Skorjanec closed the show.
"I love Peter but I wonder if he will open or close every show? Fairness," Jordan wrote on Twitter during the show.
In a series of tweets that followed, Jordan continued to critique Andre's performance, but also admitted that he was being extra hard on him because of his quality.
"Not a patch on last week and at times looked like he was...

Strictly Come Dancing was all very pleasant last week - everyone danced and had a lovely time. We even had a wardrobe malfunction, courtesy of Anthony Ogogo and his trouser-splitting jive. But no amount of glitter can disguise the fact that tomorrow night the first celebrity will be eliminated. Sniff.
Luckily, we have 15 exciting celeb dances ahead of us tonight - and we're sure it's still going to be a lot of fun, elimination fears aside. So slip on your sparkliest lycra and join us on the sofa from 6.20pm as we bring you all the action from the Strictly ballroom...
20:25But that's it! The first results show will be airing tomorrow at 7.15pm as we lose our first celeb of the series - and Rod Stewart has a bit of a sing-song. We're already feeling nervous (about the elimination, not about Rod, obviously). But for now, thanks for...

Peter Andre is ''hell-bent'' on winning 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The 'Mysterious Girl' hitmaker has reportedly hired the services of a former royal marine to help him keep fit during his time on the show. A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''Peter is hell-bent on getting everything as perfect as he can. Dance partner Janette Manrara wanted to make sure he had enough stamina to get through the quickstep from start to finish without stopping. ''So Peter went to visit an ex-marine fitness expert. He got down and dirty with press-ups, ladders, pulling a tyre and various other exercises until he collapsed.
