Shaza Moharam is an Egyptian actor/filmmaker trained in Spain and the US, a two-time recipient of the prestigious Fulbright award in acting and filmmaking, and a Berlinale Talent 2021, a distinction bestowed by the Berlin International Film Festival that celebrates the world's top 200 talents.
Moharam's films have been showcased at renowned festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Toronto, Cairo, and Marrakech. Notably, her performance in the Egyptian/German film "Fakh" was hailed as one of the best of 2019 following its Cannes premiere. In theatre, her most notable role is playing multiple lead characters in four languages in renowned French theatre director Pascal Rambert's Cairo rendition of "A micro-history of World Economics, Danced".
As a director, Moharam is interested in exploring the borders between fiction and documentary. Her debut film as director, "Ahlam," won best documentary from the Cuban Institute of the Art and the Cinematic Industry (ICAIC), while her feature film project "Mnemosyne," as actor and filmmaker, won production awards from distinguished organizations like Doha Film Institute, The Cultural Resource and Kamel Lazaar Foundation.
