Climate scientists and activists have repeatedly said that we’re past the stage of sounding the alarm: Deadly floods, record heatwaves and other extreme weather occurrences are now part of our reality. In the face of this evidence, most governments have moved glacially to pass urgent legislation. And the condemnation of protesters who hurled tomato soup at Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” in London’s National Gallery last fall reveals that a majority of people still care more about property than human lives. (Almost lost in that debate about tactics was a critical detail: The painting was protected by glass, and no real damage had been done.)
In this atmosphere, Daniel Goldhaber’s tense and entertaining How to Blow Up a Pipeline is an accessible wake-up call. Despite its daring premise and provocative title, the film won’t teach you the mechanics of making or detonating a bomb. It functions...

Cam filmmakers Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber are writing and directing a brand new Faces of Death remake, and Deadline reports that Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”) will star.
Legendary Entertainment is behind the Faces of Death relaunch, and as we recently learned, Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”) and Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”) also star.
The original Faces of Death, released in 1978, is one of the most infamous films of all time, allegedly showcasing real footage of real death. In actuality, of course, much of the horrifying footage seen in Faces of Death is staged, with gory special effects often being paired up with real footage to create the illusion of gruesome reality. Early found footage, in other words.

If horror is a reflection of the deepest societal fears of its time, “Cam” has dug into one of the 21st century’s most Kafka-esque problems — getting locked out of your account.
Produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Entertainment and heading to Netflix, “Cam” stars Madeline Brewer (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) as a cam girl whose internet persona is hacked by an eerie doppelgänger. As the newly released trailer shows, she performs nightly on her web cam for anonymous voyeurs, pushing the envelope further in order to climb the rankings. After taking it so far as to slit her own throat on camera, she is locked out of her account and discovers a woman with her exact face dancing on the other side of the screen for her fans.

Netflix is getting a head start on festival season by acquiring the thriller “Cam.”
The film, which premiered at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, stars Madeline Brewer (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Patch Darragh (“The First Purge”), Melora Walters (“Venom”), and Devin Druid (“13 Reasons Why”).
The horror movie is a technology-driven psychological thriller set in the world of webcam porn. It follows Alice (Brewer), an ambitious camgirl, who wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice’s internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she’s lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.
