So You Think You Can Dance winner Russell Ferguson has revealed the real story behind his injury on last night's results show. In an interview with People, he said that he sprained his ankle during the hip-hop routine with Kevin Hunte and Jonathan 'Legacy' Perez. "At the end, I was pretty much running off of adrenaline. After I jumped off the stage into krump, when Kevin and 'Legacy' pulled me back up, I had come down on my leg wrong and something shifted over my ankle and it caused it to swell up. And it was real tight, so I wasn't cleared to be able to dance for the rest of the night. But I could walk," he explained. He went on to admit that the moment was made even more frightening (more)...

What a finale for krumper Russell Ferguson.
He experienced the highest of highs, earning the "So You Think You Can Dance" season 6 crown. However, the night was no fairytale for him.
Suffering an injury at the end of the hip hop number he performed with fellow finalists Legacy Perez and Kevin Hunte, Russell lost control of his emotions when he realized what had happened.
So what did happen?
"When I was coming up, back onto the stage after jumping off and being all in the camera's face, I landed wrong," Russell told us. "And I guess something got like shifted or like stretched out of place in my leg... It got real numb and swollen."
So why was he able to jump for joy when he found out he'd won the competition an hour later?
As Russell explains in the clip below, he could walk and he could bend his leg,...

The most painful part of tonight's So You Think You Can Dance finale was not watching Adam Lambert turn in a creatively neutered performance of "Whattya Want From Me." No, it was seeing krumper Russell Ferguson limp onto the stage for the first cut of the night with help from fellow top-sixer Ryan Di Lillo. "I messed my leg up," Russell told a startled Cat Deeley, who needed the immediate delivery of a new microphone after the sound had pooped out moments before. The fan fave was unable to dance any further after perhaps busting his knee during the hip-hop number he stomped out with Legacy Perez and Kevin Hunte. So the audience had to make do with taped versions of the two other...

"So You Think You Can Dance" eliminated another two dancers this week, eighteen-year-old Channing Cooke and twenty-three-year-old Brooklyn native Kevin Hunte. The judges weren't impressed with their performances and they also failed to connect with audiences.
For her last performance, Cooke performed a quirky number choreographed by Tyce Diorio to Bobby McFerrin's "Blackbird," which might have been too quirky for America. "Tyce was trying to do something different and go with a different kind of music," Cooke said. "Everyone has their own opinions. I thought the song was cool and different and I think the show needs something like that. You have to throw yourself into what the choreographer asks you to do."
But as long as the dancers are voted on by viewers, "Sytycd" remains a popularity contest. Cooke felt she didn't have enough time to shine. "I guess I would've gotten my face in the camera a...

"So You Think You Can Dance" cut two more last night, dwindling the Top 20 to 12.
Certainly, it wasn't all that surprising to see Kevin/Karen and Channing/Victor in the bottom three, but the presence of Mollee and Nathan -- who fully redeemed themselves this Tuesday with a solid performance -- proves that the voting audience really does listen to what the judges say, as Nigel Lythgoe was quite critical of the two of them last week.
But, in the end, Mollee and Nathan had nothing to worry about, because the judges sent hip hop dancer Kevin Hunte and contemporary dancer Channing Cooke home. So why were they cut?
Nigel -- who hasn't been shy with his criticism of the "dance for your life" solos performed thus far -- ponders fan backlash as far as Nathan is concerned in his clip below, but he also shares his thoughts on the...

This morning I had the pleasure of chatting with Kevin Hunte the latest dancer to be eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance.
Despite his elimination, Kevin had a positive outlook on his time on So You Think You Can Dance and his future. Here's what Kevin had to say about his "brother in the top 6," what Victor can expect from his former partner Karen, and what's next in his journey.

Whether his delivery was too harsh or not, it seems the majority of So You Think You Can Dance contestants got Nigel Lythgoe’s message loud and clear last week when he said he was "angry" after elimination night's solos. "The show was an improvement from last week [and] the solos were an improvement from last week," Adam Shankman told People backstage Wednesday night. "It’s kicking in now." Despite Mollee and Nathan's jazz number, which People.com blogger tWitch said demonstrated they "had chemistry and were so on point with each other," the couple still ended up in the bottom three.

Channing Cooke and Kevin Hunte have become the latest contestants to exit this season's So You Think You Can Dance. Contemporary dancer Cooke, 18, and 23-year-old hip-hop dancer Hunte were given the boot during last night's live results show. They had landed in the bottom three couples alongside their partners Victor Smalley and Karen Hauer and Mollee Gray and Nathan Trasoras. (more)...

Tonight on So You Think You Can Dance we learned that while a remarkable solo can save a dancer in danger, a totally terrible solo won't necessarily get you sent home if you have already banked enough "star moments" and sex appeal in the minds of the judges. We've got the scoop from behind the scenes at Sytycd that reveals why a "very good" dancer went home in place of the dancer with one of the most unchoreographed and random solos in recent memory... Channing Cooke and Kevin Hunte were eliminated this week, despite a disastrous solo by Karen Hauer and last week's extended lecture from executive producer Nigel Lythgoe on how the performers always need to dance as if their lives depend on...

Kevin Hunte & Channing Cooke get eliminated from 'So You Think You Can Dance' 6 week 4. The remaining dancers kicked off the show with a very interesting dance routine choreographed by Wade and Amanda Robson. Then Kat Deeley came out to introduce the judges and explain how the show works. They talked a little bit about how the dancers did last night, and gave their advice for who ends up in the bottom three this week. Next, they revealed that Ashleigh & Jakob were safe, and that Kevin & Karen were in the bottom three for the week again,to lead into the first break.

[To better cover the technical talents of season 6, we've brought on Dr. Goddess, a guest columnist with decades of dance experience. She will share her dance-pertise in a weekly column recapping and reviewing So You Think You Can Dance with an eye on technique.]
Public Enemy warned against the trappings of over exaggeration, mischaracterization in their hit song, "Don't Believe the Hype". Audiences have heard so much hype about season 6 being the best-of-the-best that we found ourselves unprepared for the inevitable let down of imperfection. The fact is, there is still much work to be done and this week's So You Think You Can Dance proved it.
It began with Karen Hauer and Kevin Hunte's hustle, choreographed by Maria Torres, included seemingly effortless lifts, sharp spins, death-defying "death drops" (Karen's one-armed drop to the floor into a spin). They looked like they were having fun. Despite Kevin's ridiculous costume, his well-coiffed hair complemented his double pirouettes and excellent grand jetes (leaps). Karen exhibited grace and had excellent lines, so we are all going to ignore their hilarious post-dance dismount.
