Each competitor dressed up as a monster of some sort for their performance and typically used a lot of lights and color on stage. The contestants also performed away from the judges and audience, making it easier to “let loose.”

Dancing on Ice star Christopher Dean has broken his finger just days before the new series begins.
Dean, who stars alongside long-term skating partner Jayne Torvill on the popular ITV reality series, shared the news with fans on social media.
The former professional skater posted a picture of his finger in a bandage, alongside the caption: “Yes broken.”
“We were trying the Iron Lotus, but ended up doing a Half Nelson,” he wrote, in a follow-up tweet. “Or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night.”
The “Iron Lotus” refers to a fictional figure skating move from the 2007 Will Ferrell comedy Blades of Glory.
Torvill and Dean rose to prominence during the 1984 Winter Olympics, when their figure skating routine set to Maurice Ravel's “Boléro” was awarded a gold medal.
The celebrity contestants for the new series of Dancing on Ice were announced back in October last year.

Will.i.am, Ashley Banjo, Charlene White to Headline ITV’s Black History Month Shows- Global Bulletin
Programming
Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am, “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Ashley Banjo, presenter Charlene White and actor Jimmy Akingbola (“In the Long Run”) will lead U.K. broadcaster ITV’s programming for Black History Month this October.
The programming includes “Will.i.am: The Blackprint,” a one-hour documentary that follows Will.i.am’s personal exploration of what it means to be Black and British, in the country he calls his second home.
In summer 2020, Banjo was thrust into the centre of the Black Lives Matter movement when the pro equality routine performed by his troupe Diversity became one of the most complained about moments in U.K. media regulator Ofcom’s history. A year on from then, “Ashley Banjo: Britain in Black and White” (working title), and having won a BAFTA as a recognition of the importance of his routine, Banjo goes on a journey into his own past...

The 2021 Virgin Media BAFTA must-see moment went to Diversity for the dance troupe's powerful Black Lives Matter performance on Britain's Got Talent back in September 2020.
Following the performance - which received 30,000 viewer complaints to Ofcom - Diversity leader Ashley Banjo has been vocal about the racism the group received since. Accepting the BAFTA TV Award with his brother, Jordan, Ashley delivered a powerful speech thanking both Diversity's supporters as well as those who complained, for it showed the prevalence of racism in the UK.
"Thank you to everyone who stood by us and every phone call, text, comment, Dm, you guys make a difference to what was a really dark time being in the storm of 30,000 complaints. ITV has pre-emptively pulled the plug on this year’s season of “Britain’s Got Talent” due to production complications arising from the pandemic.
The entertainment show is one of the country’s biggest primetime programs, and normally airs from April to June. The 2020 season was disrupted due to Covid-19 and aired in two parts, with the first half, comprised of auditions filmed pre-pandemic, broadcast from April to May, and the second half aired from late August to October, and featuring the remaining episodes produced under Covid guidelines.
The 2021 season, however, proved to be logistically impossible given the U.K.’s ongoing Covid-19 crisis and third national lockdown, which kicked off in the new year. The show, which features Simon Cowell as one of its judges, traditionally films auditions from January. Production was postponed earlier this month.

Yesterday’s news that the UK government is placing London into its strictest tier 3 coronavirus lockdown has been met by an outpouring of grief from the beleaguered live entertainment sector.
Venues such as cinemas and theaters were able to re-open in the capital on December 2 when the country exited a four-week nationwide lockdown, and many have put a large amount of effort and investment into getting operational again ahead of the lucrative holiday period.
In the immediate aftermath to yesterday’s announcement, the UK Cinema Association said the move would be “devastating” for its members, particularly as Wonder Woman 1984 will soon be available to program (windowing issues asides).
Today, the cast and crew of Pantoland At The Palladium, the annual festive stage show held at the famed London theater, have joined the chorus of dissent expressing the negative impact this will have on the long term health of live venues.

“Britain’s Got Talent” temporary judge Ashley Banjo has revealed he has been subject to racist abuse after his dance troupe Diversity performed a Black Lives Matter-inspired routine on the show.
In a video posted to Instagram on Sunday, Banjo thanked people for the “hundreds of thousands” of support messages, and addressed the issue of racism, noting he has received “everything from racial abuse to threats to just some really nasty stuff that I’m not going to give any more time than it deserves,” said Banjo.
“A lot of the negativity, the nastiness and the racism, shows exactly why this performance was needed and why this conversation that is now risen is necessary. Racism is very real. I knew it before and I definitely know it now,” said the presenter.

A Black Lives Matter-inspired routine on “Britain’s Got Talent” by street dance troupe Diversity has resulted in 10,000 complaints from the public to U.K. media regulator Ofcom.
In the episode aired on Sept. 5, Diversity, led by popular U.K. presenter Ashley Banjo, performed a routine, part of which involved him lying on the floor while a fellow dancer dressed in police gear handcuffed him. Other dancers gathered around them with smartphones, simulating filming the incident.
The narration accompanying the dance included the lines, “What we thought we knew, some clearly didn’t. Black Lives Matter.” Diversity began the routine by taking a knee before the song “Black Lives Matter,” by Dax, played.
Complaints started pouring into Ofcom and quickly crossed 1,000. On Sept. 6, Banjo tweeted: “So much to say… But I’ll Just let the performance talk. Thousands of messages of Love and support – Thank you. For the thousands of messages...

Contestants include singers Sarah Harding, Amelle Berrabah, former Towie star Lucy Mecklenburgh and boxing champion Carl Froch. Louis Smith also leads a performance with his London 2012 team-mates.
The Simpsons: Sky1, 7:30pm
After a nine-week break the animated sitcom returns, with Homer waking up to find the world around him made of Lego.
It seems like a pretty great existence, but Simpson Senior doesn't share the same enthusiasm.
Got to Dance: Sky1, 8pm
Dance contest hosted by Davina McCall, which sees the contestants audition to impress both the audience and a judging panel.

Got to Dance returns this weekend, and we're feeling pretty excited about it - and not just because Adam Garcia is back on the panel! But we did want to know whether he, Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo have the right to judge the contestants... so we set a little contest to find out who could do the most moves in a minute. Who got their hokey-cokey mixed up with their conga? Who twerked away? And what on Earth was Adam doing? Watch our video below to find out...
After all that nonsense, we sat down with the judges for a wee bit of a chat about Adam's return, their dancing nightmares and the new series...
How is it being back, Adam?
Adam: "Yeah, it's good. It's like I never was away."
Ashley: "It's been great!"
Kimberly: "It just felt like he'd never left."
Adam: "And I think obviously, like you just saw,...

Ashley Banjo thinks Adam Garcia's return will ''recharge'' 'Got To Dance'. The Diversity dancer is ecstatic Adam is returning to the Sky One show for series five after Jls singer Aston Merrygold filled in for him last year, and believes having the original gang back together will make it the best dance star search to date. He exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''It's recharged, refreshed and everyone's ready to bring it back with a bang, especially now we've got the old team back together. I was really happy when I found out Adam was back, I think this year's going to be a...

Adam Garcia is returning to the 'Got to Dance' judging panel. The Australian hunk will star alongside Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo on the latest series of the Sky One dance competition series. Adam, 40, briefly left the show last year and was replaced by Jls star Aston Merrygold. 'Got to Dance' will see a major format shake-up for its fifth series as the three judges will each mentor teams of six dance acts in the competition. Kimberly, Adam and Ashley will select their favourite acts from the auditions to compete on their teams and will coach them through the three live semi-finals and...

Adam Garcia has signed up to return to Got To Dance.
Garcia appeared as a judge on the first three series of the Sky1 competition and will now come back for its fifth birthday this summer.
He will join returning stars Ashley Banjo and Kimberly Wyatt, and in a new twist each of the three judges will mentor a team of six contestants throughout the series.
The iconic Roundhouse in Camden will be the new home of the auditions, while as Sky previously announced, the live shows will be stripped over a week in August and be broadcast from Earls Court with a 6,000-strong audience.
In addition, each judge will take control of a live episode - choosing music, themes, styling and choreography for their acts, and performing themselves.
"I'm thrilled to be back on the Got To Dance judging panel and can't wait to work with Kimberly and Ashley again,...

What a week it's been! Not least for yours truly, as it's been the first full week since November where I've not been flinging myself off diving boards and swanning around in spandex. And I have to say, I've missed it!
Not the bruises or the tears, naturally, but the camaraderie and the sport itself have been second to none, and my whole Splash! experience has been fantastic.
Narrowly pipped to the post by Towie's Dan Osborne last Saturday, I didn't quite make it to the final show in a swimming costume, but content enough being last girl standing, I took my seat alongside the rest of the cast of 2014 to enjoy the all-male final. Dan, Keith Duffy, Diversity's Perri Kiely and Paralympian Richard Whitehead all donned their briefest of briefs yet to take to the boards one final time.
The challenge, not only to master another complicated solo dive,...

We've been entertained by tears, tiny trunks and tons of Tom Daley, but sadly it couldn't last. Splash! concludes its second series tonight (February 15) with an all-male final, and we at Digital Spy are going to savour every single minute we have left.
Diversity young 'un Perri Kiely is favourite to win, but Paralympian Richard Whitehead, Towie hunk Dan Osborne and Boyzone star Keith Duffy could certainly give him a run for his money.
Join us from 7.20pm for all the diving action and (fingers crossed) more wardrobe malfunctions in our live blog...
20:50Well, there you go. Splash! is over (*whisper it* possibly forever), and all that's left is the customary end of series leap into the pool. Although we wish Gabby wasn't so precious that she needed to stick on a swimming cap. Thanks for joining us, gang! Night night!
20:47Keith is in 3rd, Richard Whitehead is the runner-up,...
