What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 6
What We Do in the Shadows season 2, episode 6, “On the Run,” separates the roommates for the first time. Laszlo (Matt Berry), it may come as no surprise to anyone, has never paid a piper for a tune in his life after life. It really is the vampire way. Live long, run fast, and stay a good looking corpse.
The vampire roommates have dug themselves in so deep at their home it’s like Staten Island is their native soil. The episode’s opening shows they’ve become fairly casual about their continued safety. Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) comes up with a very fun game: finding the corpses buried on the property because their decaying flesh is creating sinkholes. The vampire familiar is very inventive. It really is a shame his master is always...

Ryan Murphy is expanding the American Horror Story universe to include a limited attention span-friendly spinoff series.
The uber producer announced early Monday on social media that he is moving forward with American Horror Stories, an offshoot of the FX anthology franchise that would consist of “one-hour contained episodes,” per Murphy. The new series will also air on FX, an insider confirms.

The talent pool in the office must be pretty shallow wherever it is Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) works. He gets promoted to boss in episode 5 of What We Do in the Shadows season 2 and doesn’t even know what his company does. Not that it matters to Colin Robinson (you really have to say both names after hearing Nandor’s relentless enunciations). He doesn’t work there for the money. He’s not there for the prestige. But when he gets a taste of the power, he can’t get enough. He is a kid in a candy store, a junkie at a shooting gallery and Homer Simpson at an all-you-can-eat buffet rolled into one.
With power comes abuse and TV series are filled with abusive bosses. Colin may be emotionally draining and his interoffice meetings may be boring enough to put a printer-paper-feeder to sleep, but he’s not the worst boss on TV.

What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 5
The incompetence of the real world catches up with the ineptitude of the modern vampire as What We Do in the Shadows season 2 episode 5, celebrates “Colin’s Promotion.” It’s not so much a celebration for Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), though. He doesn’t even know what the company does when he’s called in to the human resources, one of the most vampiric of mortal careers. For all his stoic monotony, he doesn’t take news well at all.
“Co-workers die,” according to the old adage, “Vampire live forever.” The episode takes on the vampire class system in a roundabout way. What We Do in the Shadows hasn’t yet clarified whether Colin, an energy vampire, is an immortal being or just a human car battery looking for a charge. The...

What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 4
What We Do in the Shadows Season 2, Episode 4, “The Curse,” deals with an internet hoax from the dawn of the world wide web. Nandor (Kayvan Novak) is the oldest of the vampire housemates on Staten Island. To say he has a problem keeping up with the times is an understatement. But he tries. He even has email. Of course, it’s on Hotmail, but time passes so quickly when you’re an immortal who has the time to check it?
Nandor the Relentless has a penchant for not checking his messages, though. It goes back hundreds of years and has led to a lot of useless slaughter. And with Colin Robinson as his relentless guide through the impenetrable fortress of internet security, procrastination has been worked out to a comic art form.

What We Do in the Shadows Season 2, Episode 3, “Brain Scramblies,” observes a sacred event. The vampires of Staten Island are invited to the venerable celebration of the Superb Owl. Conspiracy theorists might think they recognize this from reports of the billionaire parties at Bohemian Grove, where a statue of such a wondrous bird guards with the warning “Weaving Spiders come not here.” Spiders drink blood just like vampires, so you can imagine the honor of getting such a coveted invitation.
Bloodsucking vampires respect the owl’s predatory nocturnal existence, much more than energy vampires respect their sanguine counterparts. What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 2
With What We Do in the Shadows Season 2, Episode 2, “Ghosts,” our friendly neighborhood vampires move into Ghostbusters territory. This comes in early with an incident of symmetrical book stacking, just like the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947. Sadly, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd only mocked up their paranormal happening for the screenplay, and Staten Island’s undead similarly dismiss a ghostly explanation. Even though we, as watchers, know no human being would stack books like this.
Ghosts are things from fairy tales, Nandor (Kayvan Novak) explains to Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), tales to keep kids in their beds, unlike vampires which roam the earth gleefully. Who knew vampires were so skeptical? The familiar is right in pointing out the inherent prejudice in the vampire’s belief system. Nandor has no problem with werewolves, demons,...

FX’s What We Do in the Shadows this Wednesday scared up a couple of new supernatural creatures — to hilarious effect — with its double-episode Season 2 premiere.
But first, a catch-up on what the gang has been up to since we last tuned in. Guillermo has been fending off the vampire assassins who have been descending upon the house, dispatching with about a dozen so far while keeping their existence a secret from the others — lest he reveal himself to be a quite effective vampire killer. Nandor had a brief “enlightenment” when, in the midst of vaporizing, he got sucked into an air humidifier.

What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 Episode 1
Good help is hard to find. It’s an eternal problem, and What We Do in the Shadows‘ season 2 premiere scours the want ads for unwanted undead fans. The Staten Island vampires closed last season by pissing off the Vampire Council by accidentally torching Baron Afanas (Doug Jones), and they need all the help they can get.
The series really finds its rhythm in season 2, both stylistically and uncharacteristically. “Resurrection” mainly focuses on Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Laszlo (Matt Berry) looking for their own familiar. For those just tuning in, a familiar basically does a vampires’ bidding, but is not necessarily like Renfield in Dracula. One of the best segments in the episode is an early montage showing the ultimately fatal mishaps which befell early applicants. It is pure cartoon slapstick only...

Today is an exciting day, dear readers! In just a few hours, the second season of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows series kicks off, and honestly, it could not have come at a better time, because this writer could definitely use a pick me up right now. I was a bit skeptical going into the first season of Wwdits, because the film version is truly one of my go-to happy place movies and I absolutely adore those characters with every fiber of my being, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to connect with a new batch of vampires living together.
Boy, was I wrong.
The Wwdits series quickly endeared itself to me, as I knew I liked it after the first episode, but by episode 2, I was completely smitten with Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nandor (Kayvan Novak), and his human familiar Guillermo.

How are vampires dealing with social distancing? They’re probably immune to Covid-19, but they also depend on a ready supply of human blood to keep going. Between quarantine and curfew, there aren’t a lot of us out and about after the sun goes down.
This was the first thought I had when watching the start of the second season of FX’s undead mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, in which a quartet of vamps get one another’s nerves while sharing a house on Staten Island.

This What We Do in the Shadows season 2 review contains no spoilers.
FX’s horror comedy mockumentary series What We Do in the Shadows season 2 rises from the crypt to present classic-style comedy worthy of the ancients yet not entirely at odds with the modern world. Staten Island’s favorite vampires – Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) – continue to make a mess of their community, tradition, monster standing, and genre. Their human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) continues to mop up mortal and immortal remains.
These aren’t the scariest vampires in the tri-state area. They’re not even the scariest bloodsuckers in a three-block radius of the house they share. One of the best things about What We Do in the Shadows is how it presents the dangers to the vampires. Most shows and movies about the thirsty undead make them out to be the threat.

Times are tough, and the world could do for more television shows that center on immortal vampire roommates who attend a Super Bowl party. Thankfully, FX has the cure: The network has revealed the official trailer for “What We Do in the Shadows” Season 2, and all that the ludicrous vampire comedy is shaping up to offer.
The series, based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi (now an Oscar winner for “Jojo Rabbit”), centers on the misadventures of Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), four vampires who have lived together for hundreds of years. The vampires, along with Nandor’s human servant Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), cohabitate amid all your typical roommate foibles.

Cult films are a dicey proposition to adapt for television. The mixture that came together and worked on screen the first time may not jive again for a return engagement. That goes for both adaptations and sequels, wherever they may land. In the case of What We Do in the Shadows, original co-creator Jermaine Clement has avoided all pitfalls. Instead of seeming tired or a needless rehash, this show is a romp that is unlike anything else on TV right now. The original flick was a charmer, but this could be even better before long. FX has something special on its hands. The show is an absolute laugh riot. The show is based on the movie of the same name that Clement crafted with Taika Waititi. Essentially, this is a mockumentary about the undead residents of a home on Staten Island. The IMDb synopsis very simply sets things up like...

Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
Before making the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi tried his hand at revamping (no pun intended) another subgenre that had been sufficiently beaten to death: vampire fiction. Alongside fellow Kiwi Jemaine Clement, Waititi co-wrote, co-directed, and co-starred in a feature-length mockumentary about the day-to-day of a bloodsucker entitled, What We Do in the Shadows. Based on the short film of the same name released nearly a decade earlier, the 2014 release received critical acclaim out of Sundance and even spawned a spinoff series, Wellington Paranormal, which will roll out a second season later this year in New Zealand.
Stateside, however, it wasn’t until early 2018 that Clement was tasked by FX to translate his and Waititi’s highly-successful brand of undead tomfoolery to the small screen. Unfortunately for the viewership, myself included, Waititi and Clement – both of whom...

“The problems of living with other vampires are the vampires I’ve chosen to stay with,” explains Nadja, one of the three creatures of the undead at the heart of FX’s new comedy series, What We Do in the Shadows.
A spin-off of Jemaine Clement and Taika Waitii’s hilarious 2014 mockumentary about vampire housemates, it transplants the idea from Wellington, New Zealand, to Staten Island, New York, where Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), her husband Laszlo (Matt Berry) and former Ottoman Empire warrior Nandor (Kayvan Novak) have shared a house for several unpleasant centuries,...

Meet the vampires of Staten Island, they're pretty much like the rest of us, maybe too much. What We Do in the Shadows' pilot bites reality.

This What We Do in the Shadows review contains spoilers.
What We Do in the Shadows Episode 1
The 2014 documentary What We Do in the Shadows opens with a shot of a digital alarm going off at 6 o'clock. We don't know if it's a.m. or p.m. The lid of a coffin rises and a hand comes out with an almost 1931 Dracula-style blind grope, and hits the snooze alarm. The Pilot for FX's series What We Do in the Shadows references Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula in its opening as Nandor the Relentless awakens into the evening in an ascent as dramatic as Gary Oldman's.
Well, it almost opens that way. But the damned coffin lid gets stuck, leaving Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), Nandor's Renfield,...

FX has released two promo spots for Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s upcoming What We Do In The Shadows comedy series and it looks hilarious! The clips are brief, but they made me laugh!
The series is based on the incredibly funny mokumentary film of the same, but this series follows a group of vampires living together in Staten Island.
Here’s a synopsis that was released for the series thanks to Rotten Tomatoes:
“Much like the movie, the series follows three vampires who live together: Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), and Nandor (Kayvan Novak) — the former two are husband and wife. Also living with them is a fourth vampire named Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), who’s an “energy vampire.” Instead of blood, he sucks the energy out of his victims by boring them to death with mundane anecdotes and bad jokes. The office is his feeding ground,...
