A decade later, Erica Rose has not forgotten this Bachelor Pad challenge—and for good reason. It's been 15 years since the Texas native rose to fame as a contestant vying for Lorenzo Borghese's love on the ninth season of The Bachelor in 2006. After her elimination, Rose headed to the second season of Bachelor in Paradise's predecessor, Bachelor Pad, appearing alongside Bachelor Nation stars like Jake Pavelka, Michelle Money, Vienna Girardi and the late Gia Allemand. During an appearance on the Unpopular with Jacques Peterson podcast, Rose recalled a notable challenge she said was both emotionally traumatic and physically hurtful:...

Peter Weber is cool, but does anyone else remember The Bachelor's Og pilot? It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since Jake Pavelka took flight and went on a journey to find his happily ever after on ABC's hit reality show. After competing on Jillian Harris' season—and being eliminated before hometowns—the pilot became the lead where he ultimately proposed to Vienna Girardi and said goodbye to runner up Tenley Leopold. As viewers continue to watch Pilot Pete's journey at finding love every Monday night, it got us thinking: What did The Bachelor look like 10 years ago? "Ten years ago, social media really wasn't that big. Now, these Bachelor...

When's the last time a date took you on a helicopter ride? Or set up a private fireworks show just for the two of you? Or surprised you with a shopping spree? Yeah, same. Extravagant dates are made for television, especially The Bachelor. Not only does it lead viewers to be wowed, but it heightens emotions and, in a way, forces feelings between daters.
In case you've ever wondered how two strangers could fall in love, just look at how they spend their time together. It's not a typical dating environment. There's no waiting for someone to text you back or wondering if they'll initiate the next date. Everything is planned for them, and the extra romantic dates put couples on the fast track. We know that no one can "make" two people fall in love, but setting the mood certainly helps.

12. Chris Soules
Our small town farm boy hero Chris Soules didn’t have a very dramatic season, all things considered, but he’s been rocked by scandal after his time on TV. In April 2017, Soules rear-ended a man on a tractor who later died. He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal car crash, according to the Des Moines Register. The outlet reported in March that Soules was “appealing the Iowa Supreme Court’s recent decision not to consider the merits of the charge against him.”
11. Jesse Palmer
Back in Season 5, the early, early days of the long-standing franchise, Jesse’s season was billed as the “most dramatic ever!” Even though by now much more dramatic events have happened on “The Bachelor,” Jesse did at one point call out the wrong woman’s name at the Rose Ceremony and had his best friend’s wife posing as a contestant.

On March 25, 2002, ABC introduced to the world a show that took one man’s search for Ms. Right and, with the help of some alleged post-production trickery and the casting of some beyond wackadoo hopefuls, turned it into a reality-tv phenomenon which has since spawned multiple STDs spin-offs.
We’re of course talking about The Bachelor, which on this day marks its 15th anniversary.

Since inaugural suitor Alex Michel, the ABC franchise has helped 19 other eligible bachelors on their quest for “true love,” most recently bringing together Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi in the Season 21 finale.

While there’s no doubt that over the years many of our favorite contestants on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette would probably agree with that phrase, there are quite a few that seem to have taken it a little too literally. They plotted, schemed, lied and betrayed — and made for some pretty amazing television in the process.
And, if we were really lucky, they then ended up on one of the spin-off shows like Bachelor in Paradise and Bachelor Pad. In the spirit of free-flowing roses, champagne and drama, let’s...

And they all lived happily ever after. Well, not all. As any loyal member of Bachelor Nation knows, not every couple that ends the season together actually Stays together once the cameras stop rolling. Listen, for every Trista and Ryan Sutter, there's a Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi. It's just the laws of physics. Or something. And on Monday night, JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette came to an end, with Jordan Rodgers getting down on one knee and proposing. Time will tell if JoJo and Jordan, who admitted they struggled with all the negative tabloid attention and rumors during the last few months, will actually make it down the aisle, but we're hoping these two crazy kids follow in the...

Nonfiction filmmaker Michael Madsen places his camera in front of various government and military officials and quizzes them on their protocol for an alien encounter. (Did you know that the United Nations has an Office for Outer Space Affairs? It is located in Vienna, if you want to drop by and say hello.) None of said officials have ever seen -- let along communicated with -- an alien, so keep in mind this is all hypothetical; but their thoughtful responses make it abundantly clear that they take the possibility of an alien arrival on Earth pretty darn seriously. As they should, really. The chances that there are no other lifeforms in the entire universe is pretty slim. One of these days, humans will probably encounter an extraterrestrial species. Let's just hope they are as cute as E.T....

The thing with The Bachelor is you consider watching every season, but you might decide against it based on the following criteria: 1) The bachelor isn’t hot/cool/tolerable enough — always a possibility; 2) you realize The Bachelorette is inherently a better series because a bunch of hapless men fighting for the affection of an aloof woman is way funnier than a bunch of hapless women fighting for the affection of an aloof man. God, remember Kasey from Ali Fedotowski‘s season? And his monotone mantra? “I want to guide and protect her heart. I want to guide and protect her heart.” Dear Kasey: Those are synonyms. 3) I dunno, maybe instead you want to catch up on Breaking Bad or Veep or something you’ll remember in a year. Whatever.
The point is, the threat of male hotness is always a reason to tune in for an episode or two of The Bachelor,...
