James Duval is the likable dummy who thinks self-interment will bring him some of the luck he’s down on
James Duval, the man who played Frank the Rabbit in Donnie Darko, is the star of this intriguing stoner comedy-drama, whose wacky/terrifying premise almost lives up to the legendary interdimensional bunny. He plays Sid, an inveterate LA toker and online gamer (Challenger is his digital ID) who, 40 years old and going nowhere, decides to bury himself alive and livestream the ordeal on the internet. Based on the YouTube videos of some Russians who’ve done the same thing, he believes it will bring him good luck.
The ploy is all the more surprising, because for the first half-hour writer-director Paul Boyd keeps us firmly in Lebowski land. Sid is Echo Park’s resident friendly neighbourhood dealer, handing out complimentary joints to the schoolkids he sells kush to. After being...

This Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts season 2 review contains no spoilers.
When it comes to dealing with a post-apocalypse, the best stories are the ones that deal heavily in hope: hope for a better future, hope for happiness, and—occasionally—sheer moments of joy found amid the mess. One of the things I loved about Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts season 1 is that it so perfectly balances the idea of things being an absolute chaotic mess and acknowledging that inside that chaos lies a path toward a brighter, more beautiful future. The second season doubles down on that message, and Kipo continues to be the focal point around which the possibilities of that new future form.
The conceit of Kipo is that 200 years earlier (heavily indicated to be the year 2020), an apocalyptic event sent humans scurrying to cities underground, called Burrows, while the animals on the surface mutated into humanoid,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “The Cryptobanker,” the 10th episode of “The Blacklist” Season 6.
Following Coy Stewart’s introduction as the innocent inmate Vontae Jones on the sixth season of NBC’s “The Blacklist,” fans have likened his relationship with Red Reddington (James Spader) to that of Batman and Robin. Had the big jailhouse escape plan featured in the 10th episode, “The Cryptobanker,” actually worked out, it would have been an astute connection.
As it stands those comparisons will have to wait.

Marvel's premiere TV team will return for Agents of Shield Season 7, but it will be the series' final outing on ABC.
Although its future was often in doubt season to season, Agents of Shield season 7 was a sure thing right from the start as ABC renewed the series for two shortened seasons shortly after the end of season five. With the introduction of another time travel storyline — this time to past — the fact that season 7 will be the show's final run introduces interesting possibilities for coming full circle with the origins of the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.

Megyn Price (The Ranch) and Coy Stewart (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will recur opposite Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias in Mr. Iglesias, Netflix’s upcoming multi-cam comedy series from the comedian and Cristela co-creator/executive producer Kevin Hench.
In the comedy, Iglesias plays Gabe, a good-natured public high school teacher who works at his alma mater. He takes on teaching gifted but misfit kids to not only save them from being “counseled out” by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal, but also to help them unlock their full potential.

Season 5 of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally starting to come into focus, four weeks ahead of its delayed premiere (Friday, Dec. 1 at 9/8c).
Marvel.com on Thursday released the first photos of four new characters that will figure into the new, outer space-set storyline. (If you can think back, Season 4 ended with Coulson & Co.’s Framework-foiling victory celebration being cut short by stone-cold agents of some sort. Afterward, we saw Coulson aboard some sort of space station, where he apparently has been toiling for some time.)

"Attention students, the rules have changed. I am your new principal." Yes, I fully admit this looks terrible, but thankfully you don't have to waste any time or money on this if you don't want to - all trailers are free to watch! Deadly Detention, originally known as The Detained before the title change, is a new horror thriller about five "archetypal teens" (eye roll already) serving detention who "find themselves in a life or death situation." The main cast includes Henry Zaga, Alex Frnka, Sarah Davenport, Coy Stewart, Jennifer Robyn Jacobs, Kevin Blake, and Gillian Vigman. At least they admit in the description that the characters are archetypal, because everything about this looks cheesy and awful and not worth watching. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Blair Hayes' Deadly Detention, direct from YouTube: Stuck together for Saturday detention, five high school students with nothing in common find...

HollywoodNews.com: TBS has ordered an additional 90 episodes of the hit sitcom “Are We There Yet?” following this summer’s highly successful 10-episode run. The series, which stars Terry Crews (“Everybody Hates Chris”) and Essence Atkins (“Half and Half”), is produced by Revolution Studios and Cube Vision and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. Revolution’s Joe Roth and Vince Totino and Cube Vision’s Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez serve as executive producers, along with award-winning show-runner Ali LeRoi. In addition to executive producing, Ice Cube plays a recurring guest starring role.
“’Are We There Yet?’ has proven itself to be an extremely strong addition to TBS’s comedy lineup,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “’Are We There Yet?’ attracts a young, diverse audience, making it an especially good fit for our Wednesday night slate of original sitcoms.”

If you enjoy the TBS comedy Are We There Yet?, then you're in for a real treat. The cable channel has just renewed the sitcom for 90 episodes (no, that's not a typo).
Based on the 2005 Ice Cube movie, Are We There Yet? follows the newly blended Kingston-Persons family as they adjust to one another. The series stars Terry Crews, Essence Atkins, Teala Dunn, Coy Stewart, Christian Finnegan, and Keesha Sharp. Co-executive producer Ice Cube plays a recurring role as does former Family Matters star Telma Hopkins.
This is the third TBS sitcom to receive such a massive pickup, following in the footsteps of Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Meet the Browns. Are We There Yet? has been on the air for just 10 episodes but distributor Dembar-Mercury wants to take the series into syndication.
