Directed by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel, Finding Vivian Maier documents Maloof’s journey to discover more about Vivian Maier after purchasing a box of her negatives in 2007. He began the search a few years later, after he realized the negatives consisted of some of the best undeveloped street photography of the 20th century. After some searching, it was revealed that Maier was a career-nanny who had died in 2009.
Since the documentary is in serious contention for a best documentary feature Oscar, we thought we’d check to see how many other photography-related films have managed to resonate with the Academy’s documentary branch and land a nomination in the same category. We found six.

I first fell in love with Adrian Grenier in 1999 when he played Chase Hammond, Melissa Joan Hart’s love interest in Drive Me Crazy. How can a lady resist that perfectly coiffed hair, chiseled features and piercing eyes? In 2004, he won America over with his role as the handsome movie star Vincent Chase on HBO’s Entourage. The show’s success has allowed Grenier to work as he sees fit, selectively choosing roles and dedicating his time to projects of passion. Teenage Paparazzo is Grenier’s exploration of the way in which celebrity infiltrates all aspects and all ages of society.
While Grenier may be the filmmaker here, he is also the celebrity who acts as the catalyst for the story. When 13-year-old aspiring photographer Austin Visschedyk takes his first paparazzi picture of Adrian Grenier, a spark is ignited, launching him into the world of celebrity tabloid photos and glamour.

[A big thanks, as always, to Joshua Chaplinsky for the following review.]Teenage Paparazzo releases on DVD in the U.S. Tuesday, March 29th.If the perceived douchiness of Adrian Grenier is preventing you from seeing this film, let me assuage your fears- Teenage Paparazzo is very, very good. Sure, it's familiar territory for the star, but this isn't some superficial vanity project or an episode of Entourage come to life. It is an in-depth look at the symbiotic relationship between celebrities and the public, as well as an assured directorial debut. It all begins with Grenier being flash-blasted by 14 year-old Austin Visschedyk in a conveniently documented night on the town. Considering recent "documentaries" like Exit Through The Giftshop and Catfish, it's hard not to be skeptical...

This actually isn't the first time Hilary Swank has seen one of her films go direct to DVD after the films "Red Dust" and "Birds of America" suffered the same fate, but surely there was more riding on this horror film from the resurgent Hammer Films about a recently separated doctor who learns her Brooklyn loft isn't quite as wonderful as she thought it would be. "Secretary" screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson co-wrote this film, which co-stars Christopher Lee, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Lee Pace.

Asked what they'd like be when they grow up, and given -- among other choices -- CEO of a company, United States Senator, or one of many other prestigious positions in the employment world, 42 percent of all junior high students polled responded that they'd rather be a celebrity's assistant. Not a celebrity: A celebrity's assistant.
That's messed up, people, but it's also the state of our culture today. Nothing, it seems, is more prized than fame, yet many of those who have it absolutely loathe the downside, which is having rabid, ill-mannered, don't-give-a-shit paparazzi trailing their every move.
That's what "Entourage's" Adrian Grenier explores in his documentary Teenage Paparazzo. There are a lot of surprising revelations in the doc, but perhaps none as surprising as this:...

I recently got involved in the making of a documentary about celebrity culture called Teenage Paparazzo. It was directed by Adrian Grenier, the star of Entourage on HBO. Adrian is also featured in the movie, which shows in a very personal way what it has been like for him, becoming famous playing someone famous. Teenage Paparazzo was a special entry at Sundance last winter and will be shown on HBO tomorrow, Monday, September 27, 9pm Eastern Time. The story revolves around Adrian's relationship with Austin Visschedyk, the teenage paparazzo he met on a rope line. The movie tracks the boy's involvement in that world and goes on to explore the nature of our society's fascination with celebrity. It includes interviews with other celebrities (Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Whoopi Goldberg) and some...

After years of being captured by cameras, Entourage star Adrian Grenier turns his lenses back on the photographers in the documentary Teenage Paparazzo.
The film follows 14-year-old paparazzo Austin Visschedyk, who Grenier uses as his ticket into a circle that's closed off to outsiders. "He was a perfect way to infiltrate the paparazzi because he wasn't jaded and was open to the change," Grenier tells TVGuide.com. But he also makes it clear the documentary isn't about exploiting the paparazzi to paint them in a negative light. "I was really looking to find a constructive understanding of who they are," he says.
The 34-year-old talks about why his friends weren't originally on board for the project, how the experience changed his perception of his own fame, and what he hopes people will take away from the film. Plus: What does he think about an Entourage movie?

Adrian Grenier became a celebrity by playing one on 'Entourage,' and in a new documentary he gets on the other side of the camera to explore just how the paparazzi exploit celebrities, and vice-versa. Adrian's window into La's tabloid culture is a child paparazzo named Austin Visschedyk, just 13 years old and fetching up to $2,000 per Kim Kardashian photo when 'Teenage Paparazzo' begins. As Austin gets caught up in filming the movie, his own celebrity grows and the media attention stokes his appetite for fame. Academics, photographers and celebrities including Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Eva Longoria, Lindsay Lohan and Rosie O'Donnell weigh in, and Adrian stages a photo-op with his friend Paris Hilton to see how it will be reported in the press. HuffPost spoke with Adrian about his "little brother" Austin (now almost 17), the meaning of celebrity...

HBO held two premieres on the same night for its two different programs. On Tuesday, September 21 night Nyu Skirball Center was filled with the stars and producers of TV s "Bored to Death" while The Pacific Design Center Silverscreen Theater was crowded with the faces from documentary "Teenage Paparazzo".
At "Bored to Death" premiere, the stars were celebrating the imminent season 2 that begins airing this Sunday, September 26 as well as the release of season 1 DVD on September 21. Jason Schwartzman and Ted Danson represented the main cast, accompanied by creator Jonathan Ames and HBO co-president Eric Kessler.
Season 2 is opened with "Escape From the Dungeon" and by episode 2 nudity will happen. "I think I'm the first creator of a TV show to do full-frontal nudity," Ames told NY Times at the premiere. "Fortunately it was very meager, because I'm so small."

"Entourage" star Adrian Grenier dropped by the Ktla News Morning Show on Tuesday (Sept. 22) and Zap2it caught up with him after the interview. Grenier is promoting his latest project, a documentary film called "Teenage Paparazzo" airing Monday, Sept. 27 on HBO.
No stranger to paparazzi, Grenier was shocked to see a young boy holding his own (and his camera) among veterans more than twice his age. So shocked by the sight of it, he decided to produce a documentary pointed at the paparazzi through his and the teenaged photog's eyes.
"It's sort of this glitch in the system where something you just take for granted and you accept on some level," Grenier tells Zap2it. "Then suddenly you see this little kid and it's gone too far it seems... I had to ask more questions and figure out what is really going on."

Entourage star Adrian Grenier has a newfound respect for the paparazzi - after befriending a teenage snapper and filming his life chasing celebrities for a new documentary.
The actor was inspired to make Teenage Paparazzo after encountering 14-year-old Austin Visschedyk during a night out - and he decided to turn the tables on the teen by making his life the subject of his documentary.
Grenier insists getting to know Visschedyk gave him a better understanding of the people behind the cameras.
He tells the Sydney Morning Herald, "What I recognised was that standing out there in the street, looking at the paparazzi, my instinct is to judge them and reject them. But then I saw that I didn't really understand them as human beings and I didn't understand what was driving what they did...
"I believe that gossip is fundamental to the human condition. We need to project ideas, and we use other people to embody those ideas. They help us to shape who we are and what we choose to reject or imitate."
Grenier also recruited A-list pals including Paris Hilton, Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon and Lindsay Lohan to appear onscreen to discuss Hollywood snappers - and has no regrets about using his connections for the project.
He adds, "It's a luxury I have, an advantage and by golly it's my right to exploit it."...

Is it a revelation or a revolution? It’s both! The Revelation Perth International Film Festival is tackling the theme of “Revolution” when its 13th annual edition begins violating Australia on July 8-18. Get set for 11 days filled French zombies, Belgian cowboys, outer space outlaws, Beat poets, cat ladies, gospel musicians and other revolutionaries.

On the U.S. side of things there’s Wheedle’s Groove, a look at the history of Seattle funk; Rejoice and Shout, which examines gospel music’s impact on African-American culture — and vice versa; Tom Dicillo’s Doors documentary When You’re Strange; plus The Family Jams and 72 Musicians. And, from Australia, there’s Megan Simpson-Hubberman’s classic concert film The Night of the Triffids.

Teenage Paparazzo Directed by: Adrian Grenier If you thought Adrian Grenier's role on the HBO series Entourage blurred the line between fiction and reality in strange and amusing ways, well, you ain't seen nothing yet. When he's not busy playing movie star Vincent Chase, Grenier has been making a name for himself as a documentary director and producer over the past decade. In 2002, he filmed a personal road trip to meet his father for the first time, turning it into the feature-length documentary Shot in the Dark. His follow-up project, Teenage Paparazzo, finds him turning the camera outward to focus on someone else, while simultaneously drawing on his own unique celebrity status. When a precocious 13-year-old kid catches him off guard one day by unexpectedly snapping a photograph instead of merely asking for an autograph, Grenier is intrigued. Upon discovering that the kid actually does this on a regular...

As the star of Entourage for the last six years, Adrian Grenier's life contends with paparazzi both on and off the screen. That mass of insistent cameras is everyday fare that comes with the territory. But one day a few years ago, he was blinded by the rapid-fire explosion of one specific camera flash. At the firing end wasn't some older pap eager for a prime picture worth thousands, it was a little blonde kid. And he wasn't a fan; he was part of the paparazzi.
Intrigued, Grenier hunted down 13-year-old Austin Visschedyk and turned the cameras on him for a two-punch documentary called Teenage Paparazzo. Detailing the life of a teen who roams the Los Angeles streets day and night to capture celebrity pictures, and the business of paparazzi photography and tabloid journalism, Grenier tackles a thematic double bill that is an entertaining -- if occasionally glossy and...
