Simon and Kareme are finished, at least on HBO Max. South Side has been cancelled, so there won't be a fourth season of the comedy series, at least on the streaming service.
Created by Diallo Riddle, Sultan Salahuddin, and Bashir Salahuddin, the South Side TV show stars Sultan Salahuddin, Kareme Young, Quincy Young, Chandra Russell, Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle, Lil Rel Howery, and Zuri Salahuddin. The story revolves around Simon James (Sultan Salahuddin) and Kareme Odom (Kareme Young), a pair of recent community college graduates and small-time hustlers from the Englewood area of Chicago. The duo is always cooking up schemes, from black market Viagra to street corner popcorn, to try to get ahead. They're stuck working at Rent-t-Own until they can get their big break. Read More…...

South Side is coming to an end on HBO Max.
The comedy series from co-creators Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle and Sultan Salahuddin is not getting a fourth season, a representative for the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed platform told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.
“While HBO Max will not be moving forward with a fourth season of South Side, we are so proud of the rich world Bashir Salahuddin, Diallo Riddle and Sultan Salahuddin created,” the statement read. HBO Max went on to praise the team at MTV Entertainment Studios, which was behind the series, in addition to the “supremely talented” cast and crew.
“For three seasons, this beloved series balanced cutting, hyperlocal social commentary about life on the South Side of Chicago with silly, sometimes zany humor,” the message continued. “The result was a wholly unique, ambitious and fearless comedy that could speak to everyone living the American dream.”

‘South Side’ Review: Chicago-Set Comedy Returns for a Season 2 with Dreams Even Bigger than the City
The season finale of the first season of “South Side” closed with a few friends in a basement, floating away into deep space. It would have been a bittersweet ending for the then-Comedy Central show if it had stopped there, a parting reminder of how big this collection of mismatched employees could go. Fortunately, after a two year hiatus, “South Side” is back — this time as an HBO Max original — and it’s not afraid to keep going galactic whenever it decides to.
Most of “South Side” still revolves around the employees of “Rent-t-Own,” a store that loans out everything from end tables to TVs to household appliances. In their downtime at work, Simon (Sultan Salahuddin) and Kareme (Kareme Young) are usually deep into some plan that will be their ticket to a new job, better conditions at their current one, or (as is the case with the show...

Netflix is launching its first-ever “Stranger Things” pop-up stores on Nov. 6.
The pop-up shops, located in New York City’s Times Square and The Americana at Brand in L.A., will immerse fans in the “Stranger Things” universe, offering exclusive merchandise for sale, as well as photo moments.
The merchandise includes an Elegorgon, which is a vinyl piece by Ecuadorian artist Chogrin that showcases what an Eggo waffle eating tween would look like if mashed up with a demogorgon; General Mills “Stranger Things” cereal that comes packed in original 1980s-style boxes but set in the world of the show; collectible Bandai action figures, including 16-inch demogorgons with interchangeable heads; customizable apparel stations and more.
Meanwhile, the photo moments include — for a limited time — getting up close to a hidden demogorgon in the Upside Down, popping into Hawkins Middle’s Snowball Dance, the Starcourt Mall, the Russian Lab and Joyce’s House.

It’s a risky proposition: finding comedy in the everyday of an infamous neighborhood that consistently ranks as one of the most dangerous in Chicago, and the country. But Chicago natives – and brothers – Bashir and Sultan Salahuddin have done just that with their new half-hour series “South Side.” Co-created with Salahuddin’s former fellow “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” writer Diallo Riddle, the trio’s priority is ultimately to demystify, and more importantly humanize, the community of Englewood and challenge established – though incomplete – perceptions of the city.
The workplace has been the setting for several comedy show premises, likely in part because having a good sense of humor is necessary to survive the bureaucracy, diverse personalities and at times mind-numbing tedium that can come with the environment. But few movies or TV shows have been willing (or perhaps capable) of expressing just how soul destroying working an especially low-paying, dead-end job can truly be.
