This may be the season that CSI: Vegas finally stands on its own two feet.
In its first two seasons, this hybrid has faced a difficult challenge. It's not a revival of the popular series, which ran for 15 seasons on CBS. It isn't a reboot, with new characters repopulating an old concept.
Instead, in its first two seasons, CSI: Vegas has featured a couple of legacy characters to draw in viewers of the original series.
In CSI: Vegas Season 1, power couple Gil Grissom (William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) returned to clear the lab's reputation and former lab rat David Hodges (Wallace Langham) from a well-crafted frame.
Meanwhile, seemingly in the background, the lab's new criminologists solved the day-to-day cases.
What Were the Highlights of CSI: Vegas Season 2?
The second season struck a better balance between new and old. It almost had to.
The return of Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) was well handled.

Sadly, this day has been coming for a while.
Catherine Willows will disappear for a time after CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 12. But it's for a good reason and hopefully is short-term.
Fans of the original CSI rejoiced when Marg Helgenberger agreed to bring back Catherine to CSI: Vegas Season 2.
Just like with Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle on CSI: Vegas Season 1, having Catherine back has been a blessing. It enables fans to hearken back to the glory days of what was once a franchise.
And frankly, Catherine plays better with the new lab members than Gil and Sara ever did. They came back with a mission: to save the lab's reputation and also Hodges, the fall guy for that season's big bad.
Of course, Catherine did return with her own crusade: to find her missing protege, Grace Huang, which soon morphs into making Grace's killer(s) pay.

The crime lab really brought the ick this time out.
Also, they continued to make enemies on CSI: Vegas Season 2 Episode 2.
It's a little early for what felt like a Halloween episode. But it is Vegas, where creepy is a year-round thing.
So why not peer inside that city's cottage industry known as haunted houses?
What I want to know is if there's such a thing as a haunted house wedding chapel. It would seem like a natural hybrid.
But I digress. An establishment such as Necropolis would be an ideal place to stash a body if it's appropriately disguised.
It certainly was well hidden in this case, as the thick coat of paint not only stopped the smell of decomposition but also caused the body to liquefy inside that casing. Beau's joke about almost being named Stew was totally inappropriate and perfectly appropriate at the same time.

While various restrictions (or lack thereof) around the world mean people are consuming a lot more content at home, that doesn't mean we're starved from great entertainment. Far from it: I've seen some amazing film and television over the past several months, and only feel the lack of theatrical viewing for the communal experience. There is great work to be found on our home screens, and a case in point is the new offering from The Horror Collective and the great minds behind the Etheria Film Festival. Etheria, a anthology of horror and science fiction shorts directed by women, is coming to Amazon Prime. Featuring works by emerging directors and great performers such as Shannon Woodward (Westworld), Grace Huang (The Man with the Iron Fist),...

A jauntily old-fashioned adventure that plays like the nautical equivalent of a picaresque road movie, “In Like Flynn” offers a fanciful glimpse at the pre-fame formative experiences of Old Hollywood luminary Errol Flynn, indicating that the future star of “Captain Blood” and “The Adventures of Robin Hood” engaged in a fair share of death-defying derring-do long before he swashed a single buckle on screen.
It’s based on Flynn’s 1937 book “Beam Ends,” which was inspired (or so he claimed) by the Tasmanian-born actor’s real-life exploits. But even though this handsomely mounted Australian-produced movie is labeled in the opening credits as “A Mostly True Account of the Hollywood Star’s Early Adventures,” it’s quite obvious that the credited scriptwriters — a quartet that includes Luke Flynn, the protagonist’s grandson — liberally laced their scenario with material borrowed from, ahem, works of fiction. To put it another way: There are dollops of “Jaws” here,...

"The sirens of the sea beckon." Blue Fox Entertainment has debuted the official Us trailer for the indie film In Like Flynn, which is getting a surprise release in just a few weeks later this month. In Like Flynn is a biopic that depicts iconic actor Errol Flynn's roust-about early life in Australia, before he became a world famous celebrity. In those days he was an adventurer, opium smuggler, gambler, street fighter, womanizer, and gold prospector. The film, based on Flynn's early autobiography "Beam Ends," is inspired by the writers' travels through Australia following in the footsteps of producer Luke Flynn's iconic grandfather. Thomas Cocquerel stars as Errol, with a full cast including Corey Large, Clive Standen, Dan Fogler, William Moseley, Isabel Lucas, David Wenham, David Hennessey, Grace Huang, Costas Mandylor, Callan Mulvey, and Nathalie Kelley. This looks like a good time, although a bit rough around the edges.

Sometimes all it takes to hook me into a movie is a solid premise. Other times it’s strong world building. And occasionally it’s the misguided belief that Jonny Lee Miller is in said movie.
Jonny Lee Miller is not in Infini, but five minutes into my screening I believed he was, due to a painted poster of the cast featuring a main character who bears a vague resemblance to him. When the real lead was revealed, a wave of disappointment hit me; not only had I missold the film to myself, but I had done the same to the friend sitting next to me.
None of this is the movie’s fault, but unfortunately Infini never recovered from that initial disappointment.

I was a huge fan of the first film in what now looks to be a burgeoning new martial arts film franchise. The Man With the Iron Fists was everything I love about martial arts movie and was obviously a labour of love for its star and Wu_Tang Clan member RZA. Sadly, despite the out-pouring of love from wuxia fans and internet geeks like myself, the film did not perform as well as I’m sure the studio would’ve liked. But that doesn’t stop the franchise from continuing as a direct-to-market series – and so we have The Man With the Iron Fists 2.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Vertical Entertainment. *there are spoilers here. It would be best if viewers saw the film before reading this review. Director: Shane Abbess. Writers: Shane Abbess and Brian Cachia. Cast: Daniel MacPherson, Grace Huang, Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Luke Ford and Dwaine Stevenson. Infini is a science fiction horror feature. In the bloody vein of Event Horizon (1997), the film takes place on a distant mining facility. Here, an ancient organism is spreading through a vulnerable crew. The film stars Daniel MacPherson as the protagonist, Whit Carmichael. Grace Huang, Luke Hemsworth and Bren Foster also star. Truly remarkable, the film offers a good deal of conflict and violent sequences as exposure to a virus wreaks havoc on everyone's psychology. The film also offers an ambivalent ending, but this viewer has a dark interpretation of the final scenes. Infini even offers a social message,...

Three features in advanced development at new all female company.
Five Australian women, including actress Rose Byrne and The Last Impresario director Gracie Otto, have formed production company The Dollhouse Collective.
“The core aim is to develop theatre, film and television together and tell stories with a strong female presence,” Otto told ScreenDaily. “This formalizes what we are already doing. Sitting around the dinner table we have always been sounding boards for each other.”
Another partner is Shannon Murphy, best known in theatre and opera circles but who has directed short films and is developing feature When All The Water.
Also on board are publicist and emerging producer Jessica Carrera and actress Krew Boylan, who recently received development support from Screen Australia for the feature Seriously Red, produced by Matt Reeder and featuring a protagonist obsessed with Dolly Parton.

“It’s a mystery, a puzzle film, that unravels through time zones and hotels,” said Otto of...

When RZA – co-founder of Wu-Tang Clan – stepped behind the lens for the first time back in 2012, he introduced the moviegoing audience to a pulse-pounding actioner in the form of The Man with the Iron Fists. Fast forward a little over two years and we’re now standing on the verge of the sequel’s arrival on DVD and Blu-Ray, and We Got This Covered has an exclusive clip to share with you for The Man with the Iron Fists 2.

Rounding out the international ensemble are Dustin Nguyen (22 Jump Street), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (47 Ronin), Eugenia Yuan (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend), Pim Bubear (Ninja: Shadow of a Tear...

I haven’t read the story line for this movie yet as there doesn’t seem to be much on the internet about this movie. The trailer shows some nice fight sequences from rza, so lets hope it delivers.
Here is the trailer, i hope you enjoy.

Perhaps only an expat like American–born, Hong Kong–based director Stanley J. Orzel could create a tribute to his adopted city as loving as Lost for Words. Orzel's budget apparently extended to helicopter shots of Hong Kong's skyscrapers, and he takes in many of the city's other attractions as well. Fortunately, there's far more to his slickly directed film than mere virtual tourism; pitched somewhere between art film and melodrama, it recalls Peter Chan's classic Comrades, Almost a Love Story in its depiction of frustrated romance. In summary, the plot could sound like a bad rom-com: White American ex-Marine Michael (Sean Faris) takes a job in It in Hong Kong, and, jogging one day, literally runs into Chinese ballerina Anna (Grace Huang). The...

"Some pleasure, before business?" Yes, ma'am! To cap off an otherwise mellow day with some kick ass kung fu action, Universal has unleashed this second red band trailer for RZA's marital arts directing debut The Man with the Iron Fists. This trailer follows up the first trailer we got in June for the RZA martial arts extravaganza. Not only does RZA star as "The Blacksmith", but he landed quite the cast: Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Jamie Chung, Rick Yune, David Bautista, with appearances from Grace Huang, Pam Grier, Gordon Liu and more. This looks like my kind of crazy kung fu action fun, excited to check it out! Watch the second red band (Nsfw) trailer for RZA's The Man with the Iron Fists, from Yahoo: RZA's Man With the Iron Fists is to be a "bloody R rated martial arts extravaganza" that he developed after...

"We'll see who's left standing... and who's on their knees." Universal has unveiled the first bloody, badass, kick ass red band trailer for RZA's new kung fu spaghetti western The Man with the Iron Fists, which he stars in and directs, learning from Tarantino over the years. This looks incredibly big and badass, I'm impressed, I've got really high hopes for it now. The cast includes Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Jamie Chung, Rick Yune, David Bautista, with appearances from Grace Huang, Pam Grier, Gordon Liu and many more. This looks awesome, you've got to see what RZA has cooked up here. Let the battle begin! Watch the first red band (Nsfw) trailer for RZA's The Man with the Iron Fists, from IGN: RZA's Man With the Iron Fists is to be a "bloody R rated martial arts extravaganza" that he developed after studying Quentin Tarantino for a few years.

You Can't Spell Kung Fu Without F and U.RZA has kept his audience hungry for a very long time, but now the slow drip feed of information is beginning to turn into a gushing torrent of awesome imagery. Yesterday, we were treated to the first official image from his old school martial arts action flick, The Man With The Iron Fists, and tomorrow the first teaser trailer for the film will be debuting online. Today, the film's first poster has landed - again courtesy of RZA himself via Twitter - and it looks great! The film stars Russell Crowe, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Byron Mann, Rick Yune, David Bautista, Jamie Chung and RZA himself, along with appearance from a host of others, including Grace Huang, Pam...

To be honest, until yesterday I had forgotten all about RZA’s directorial debut—a kung-fu actioner called “The Man With the Iron Fists”. But that first picture that the rapper/producer/actor/director tweeted yesterday brought it all back with a vengeance. Now there’s a badass new poster new poster to tide us over until the trailer shows up tomorrow. It’s all happening so fast. The cast of “The Man With the Iron Fists” is solid. Between the inclusion of Russell Crowe, who has a penchant for punching people in the face, and RZA’s love of martial arts films, I figure this will be one hell of a flick. Add Pam Grier, Cung Le, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, David Bautista, Gordon Liu, Grace Huang, Jamie Cheung, and the RZA himself, and you have my full attention. [T]he film centers on a blacksmith (RZA) in feudal China...

Too Late Short Film. Rani Naamani‘s Too Late (2011) short film stars Nelson Brown. Too Late plot synopsis: “A victim of an attack returns home to work on the wound but the injury turns out to be more than he expected.”

Bloodtraffick Short Film Trailer. Jennifer Thym‘s Bloodtraffick (2011) short film trailer stars Grace Huang and Kirt Kishita. Bloodtraffick‘s plot synopsis: “In a world torn by a war between vampires and angels, a human vigilante on the hunt for her missing sisters is lured into the den of a vampire.”
This reminds me of Blade: The Series, which had incredibly bloddy fight scenes for a television show. From the looks of this short film teaser trailer, this may contain similar fight scenes…hopefully. There also seems like there is some of the posing from Versus mixed in here as well.

“Lumina” director Jennifer Thym returns with the action/vampire thriller “Bloodtraffick”, a 12-minute short film that, if all goes well, Thym is hoping will translate into a feature-length film. But if that doesn’t happen, it’s supposed to also work as a standalone story. The short is set to make its premiere at the Gen Con Indy Film Festival on August 5, 2011, so keep an eye out for it if you’re attending or in the neighborhood. Who knows, this may end up being a prequel to something bigger as Thym and company envisioned. These stills of lead actress Grace Huang certainly looks tantalizing enough, but maybe it’s just that whole mad crush on cute girls with guns getting the best of me again. Set in a world torn apart by a war between vampires and angels, the short pits a human vigilante Ava (Grace Huang, soon to be...

Jennifer Thym's Hong Kong action short Bloodtraffick is set in a world torn by a war between vampires and angels.
