A month before Aaron Carter’s sudden death on Saturday, the rapper, singer, actor had wrapped filming on an independent sitcom pilot titled Group. With the blessing of Carter’s management, the filmmakers intend to complete the project in his honor. Currently in post-production, Group will be shopped to networks when finished, and it will be dedicated in Carter’s memory.
Writer-director Brian Farmer issued a statement:
“I was heartbroken to hear the shocking news about Aaron on Saturday. Aaron was so excited about the show and helping raise awareness for mental health, a topic he was very passionate about. He said being a part of the show gave him something positive to work toward, and I’ll forever cherish that. He was such a kind soul and a pleasure to work with, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who was a part of Group and countless others.

Beware, Scorpion fans, this is gonna sting: CBS has cancelled the geek-driven drama after four seasons, TVLine has learned. The series — which closed out Season 4 last month with 5.1 million total viewers and an all-time low 0.7 rating — was conspicuously missing from the network’s renewal spree three weeks ago (which promoted us to downgrade the series’ prospects from “safe bet” to could go either way).”

CBS has made the call on Monday drama Scorpion, opting not to renew the high-octane drama for a fifth season.
After a high-flying start as a breakout hit when it first launched in the Monday 9 Pm slot, Scorpion found itself heavily on the bubble for return for the second year in a row. It has struggled in the Monday 10 Pm time period, and is one of the least watched CBS scripted series currently on the air in Live+same day.
CBS had been expected to do some major cleanup on Mondays where it’s seen its ratings fortunes falter. Scorpion is the first official cancellation on the night, it likely won’t be the last.
Remaining on the bubble are two other CBS drama series, Code Black and Elementary. It is unclear whether the network will impose formal cancellation on Wisdom of the Crowd which is presumed dead.

Most people will recognize Ari Stidham as an American actor who plays Sylvester Dodd on Scorpion, which has started up on its fourth season as of September 25 of 2017. While it is interesting to note that Stidham managed to land the role in a single audition in spite of the fact that it had been written for an African-American actor in their 30s, it should be noted that he has showed up in other movies and TV shows, which are in addition to his other pursuits as an artist. “My name is Walter O’Brien. I have the fourth highest Iq ever recorded: 197. ” These words might seem made-up to some, but it’s actually true. I had the honor of interviewing the man that inspired CBS’ popular, technological drama Scorpion: Walter O’Brien, founder and CEO of Scorpion Computer Services. I asked O’Brien various questions about Scorpion and his role as an executive producer. I got some interesting answers like all of the characters, Sylvester, Toby, Happy, and Paige, with the exception of Agent Cabe Gallo (portrayed by Robert Patrick) are based on people that Walter knows and works with. For instance, the character of Sylvester Dodd is based on Walter’s best friend from college and Ari Stidham, the man who brings the human calculator to life, looks like, acts like, and sounds like the person on which the character is based. O’Brien makes sure...

Scorpion Review
Scorpion, at least in its general design, may feel similar to a host of other shows that focus on geniuses, and it suffers from the inherent flaw of all such shows, it isn’t written by geniuses. While certain recent efforts (The Mentalist, Elementary, Lie to Me) have managed to bridge the divide between focusing on geniuses and being understood by non-geniuses, Scorpion dodges the difficulty altogether, largely by doing virtually nothing that seems smart (except saying that everyone is smart at you repeatedly), and by actively showcasing the utterly ridiculous.

It’s a sad turn of events really, because there could be an interesting show here. Certain elements that look at the inherent difficulty of being a genius, especially those involving a small boy, would make for a worthwhile exploration, but the show is more interested in laughable bits of derring do. More importantly, it would seem...

Glenn Keogh, an Irish actor who has landed roles on some of the biggest shows in television in the last couple of years, now appears on CBS’s promising new drama Scorpion.
Glenn Keogh On 'Scorpion'
In Scorpion, Keogh plays the father of central character Walter O’Brien, a bona fide genius that assembles a team to help the government fight global terrorist organizations. As Keogh explained exclusively to uInterview, “[Scorpion] is based on the true story about a gentleman called Walter O'Brien - who is an Irish guy, a genius - and he is hired by the U.S. government as one part of a crack team.”
Keogh added, "He's got a group of guys who are all geniuses also, and it just follows his journeys on a week-to-week basis. They've solved problems that the existing administration could not."
Keogh went on to reveal that his character appears in the pilot,...

Try pitching Breaking Bad in one sentence. Or Game of Thrones. Heck, try explaining something as nearly straightforward as Masters of Sex in one sentence. The elevator pitch is the Holy Grail of the Hollywood development process, and when you get that perfect project with that perfect line, you can just throw it out there and everyone will know immediately what you’re getting at. So in that spirit, here’s everything you need to know about Scorpion: it’s The Big Bang Theory meets Mission: Impossible. Boom. If that sounds like something that’s appealing then welcome, and if it’s something that sounds inane or stupid, then you are now free to return to your prestige dramas on premium cable.
Even if you didn’t know that Scorpion was a CBS show, you’d know because it combines two highly successful aspects of the current CBS line-up:...

I sure do watch a lot of television. Cable, HBO, Netflix… I’ve usually got it all covered, and as such I get asked what I’m looking forward to or what I’m curious to check out when new TV Shows hit the screen. Here are some the shows that have my attention coming out this Fall and Winter, both new and returning!
New to TV
Galavant
ABC
Stars Joshua Sasse, Karen David, Vinnie Jones
Don’t get me wrong, I realize this looks particularly ridiculous but I have a personal love for fantasy, mythology, and medieval-esque stories. So much so that I check anything that comes out by default. I enjoyed the trailer for the fact that they insert jokes, comedy, and cheese as opposed to some who try to take themselves seriously and fail. I have doubts that it will make it But it is something that I will try out,...

CBS premiered the pilot episode of their newest procedural, Scorpion, at Comic-Con on Thursday, and it might be worth checking out. I haven’t quite decided yet. Let’s go through the pros and cons together.
The show follows the usual structure of a CBS procedural — a group of specialized people are working against the clock to solve a problem that they are uniquely qualified to solve. Many of them have tragic backstories. Okay, so on CSI there is no clock, but Without a Trace, Person of Interest, and that serial killer one all have/had some element of working quickly to save someone. Con
Scorpion’s twist on the concept — that this team is made up of super geniuses who basically don’t have any social skills — has been done a few times before. Con

[In case you've Forgotten, and as I will continue to mention each and every one of these posts that I do: This is *not* a review. Pilots change. Sometimes a lot. Often for the better. Sometimes for the worse. But they change. Actual reviews will be coming in September and perhaps October (and maybe midseason in some cases). This is, however, a brief gut reaction to not-for-air pilots. I know some people will be all "These are reviews." If you've read me, you've read my reviews and you know this isn't what they look like.] Show: "Scorpion" (CBS) The Pitch: "It's 'The Big Bang Theory' only they solve problems and Kat McPhee is Penny." Quick Response: The pilot for "Scorpion" is pretty goofy and, for a show about geniuses, mighty stoooooopid, but it's not unamusing, so I can't ignore that "The Big Bang Theory" is one of the 10 worst pilots I've ever seen, but it eventually became a reasonably decent series. It's just hard to introduce smart characters and do it in a way that doesn't come across as over-reliant on big-brain stereotypes and "Scorpion" most certainly doesn't avoid that trap. You could almost say that creator Nick Santora doesn't care. The pilot is about showing how this core group of geniuses could be used to help Homeland Security (represented here by the reliable Robert Patrick) solve a variety of problems on a weekly basis. It isn't about generating human characteristics or human characters for the core group.

To fill the void left by the departure of "Numbers" a few years ago, CBS is back with another drama about eccentric geniuses helping the government solve crimes -- except "Scorpion" is inspired by a true story. Walter O'Brien ("Game of Thrones's" Elyes Gabel) leads a think tank of young braniacs trying to make the world a better place. But when Lax's mainframe is mysteriously hacked and 56 airborne flights are in danger of crashing like in "Die Hard II: Die Harder," O'Brien and his crew are recruited by a no-nonsense Homeland Security agent ("Die Hard II: Die Harder's" Robert Patrick) to help. They set up shop in a diner, where a waitress (Katharine McPhee) and her secret genius son also pitch in. Watch the trailer here: "Scorpion" also stars Eddie Kaye Thomas ("American Pie"), Ari Stidham and Jadyn Wong. And it looks like Ernie Hudson ("Ghostbusters," "The Crow") gets some screen time as well,...

Saturday Night Live alum Rachel Dratch has signed on as a series regular in Fox‘s half-hour pilot Dead Boss, from Wbtv and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. An adaptation of the BBC3 series created by Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh, Dead Boss is a comedic mystery that finds overachiever Helen Stephens (Jane Krakowski), who is wrongfully convicted of murdering her boss and is forced to rely on her train wreck of a sister to prove her innocence. Paradigm-repped Dratch will play Christine, Helen’s cellmate, a sunny but emotionally needy arsonist who will help Helen out of anything, except prison. Related: 2014 Fox Pilots Updated: Katharine McPhee (Smash) and Ari Stidham (Anyplace) have joined the cast of CBS‘ drama pilot Scorpion, from writer Nick Santora, director Justin Lin, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. It centers on Walter (Elyes Gabel), an eccentric genius and his international network of super-geniuses who form...

There weren't big ratings for ABC Family's Huge series so the cable channel has cancelled it after just 10 episodes.
Huge follows a group of seven teenagers who are sent to weight-loss camp with diverse results. The cast includes Nikki Blonsky, Hayley Hasselhoff, Raven Goodwin, Ari Stidham, Ashley Holliday, Harvey Guillen, Stefan Van Ray, Jacob Wysocki, Molly Tarlov, Gina Torres, Zander Eckhouse, Zoe Jarman, and Paul Dooley.
The show debuted to a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic last June with 2.53 million viewers. ABC Family bragged that it was their biggest series launch to date among women 18-49 and second largest in adults 18-49 and women 18-34.
Unfortunately, the numbers started to fall in week two and slowly kept dropping off. By week eight, Huge hit a series low with a 0.5 rating in the demo and 1.34 million...

While fans of Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky may have been surprised to see her on Huge with no makeup, scraggly hair, and a cynical and sarcastic personality, the 21-year-old says she's "never felt more pretty in a role." Blonsky spoke to TVGuide.com about how she brings Will to life, and how Will's feelings for Ian (Ari Stidham) and keeping a secret for Amber (Hayley Hasselhoff) will affect them in Monday's season finale.
