"You first responsibility is to preserve the hearing you have." Amazon Prime has finally debuted an official trailer for Sound of Metal, an acclaimed indie drama about a rock band drummer who begins to lose his hearing. The film first premiered at the Toronto and Zurich Film Festivals last year to rave reviews, and is open in select theaters later this fall. Riz Ahmed stars as Ruben, a heavy-metal drummer whose life is thrown into freefall when he begins to lose his hearing. The full cast includes Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff, Mathieu Amalric, Chris Perfetti, and William Xifaras. So far this looks as good as I've heard. Have been forward to watching it ever since the TIFF buzz dropped last year. One great review states: "Riz Ahmed turns in a spectacular performance that overcame my fears of disability appropriation." Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Darius Marder's Sound of Metal,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not seen the series finale of “Defending Jacob” on Apple TV Plus.
“Defending Jacob” reached its explosive conclusion this week, which began with Jacob (Jaeden Martell) being set free after Leonard Patz (Daniel Henshall) was found dead in an apparent suicide. Patz left behind a note taking full responsibility for Ben’s (Liam Kilbreth) death, clearing Jacob’s name.
But questions lingered about Patz’s death and Jacob’s guilt. According to Martell, not even the show’s creative team knows if his character was ultimately the murderer.
“When I met with [director] Morten [Tyldum] and [creator] Mark [Bomback] for the first time, I asked if Jacob was guilty,” Martell tells Variety. “Morton told me that I had the freedom to decide if he did it and I wasn’t supposed to tell anybody once I decided. So not even Morton and Mark know. They essentially...

"You don't listen to me... you're gunna get hurt." Netflix has revealed a new full-length trailer for an action film titled Wheelman, about a "wheelman" getaway driver. We featured a teaser trailer for this last month, and here's the full trailer to follow that. Wheelman is told entirely from the perspective of the driver, with most shots inside the car, taking place over the course of one night and one bank robbery that goes terribly wrong. Frank Grillo plays the wheelman, co-starring Garret Dillahunt, Caitlin Carmichael, Wendy Moniz, and William Xifaras. This actually looks pretty damn good, and buzz from Fantastic Fest seems to indicate it might even exceed expectations. This really does look a lot like a grittier Baby Driver, though. Here's the official full-length trailer for Jeremy Rush's Wheelman, direct from Netflix's YouTube: You can still watch the first teaser trailer for Netflix's Wheelman here, to see a different take on this.

"Ready, Set, Go!" Netflix has unveiled an intense first teaser trailer for an action film titled Wheelman, about a "wheelman" getaway driver. We've already seen one great film this year about a getaway driver (Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, if you haven't seen it yet it's definitely recommended), so why not another? Wheelman seems to be told entirely from the perspective of the driver, with most shots inside the car, taking place over the course of one night and one bank robbery that goes terribly wrong. Frank Grillo stars as the wheelman, with a cast including Garret Dillahunt, Caitlin Carmichael, Wendy Moniz, and William Xifaras. This looks like it could be cool, or at least as a fun late night watch on Netflix. Fire up the engines.
