Marla Mitchnick is a director, writer, producer, and former editor.
Mitchnick has directed 100+ hours of video for the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, worked on 12 commercials that made it to the Super Bowl, directed 33 green-screen videos for an award winning game, and produced, edited, and/or directed the cameras for 1,500+ TEDTalks.
In addition to her freelance work, Marla Mitchnick has been on staff at Broadcast Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and TED Conferences, LLC. At the Met she produced, shot, and edited art-related videos for early web distribution and museum exhibition. At TED, Mitchnick was a founding member of the video team, designing camera placement to suit specific venues, developing coverage strategy and overall workflows, directing up to 14 iso cameras with GFX and IMAG, creative-producing animated rear projections for the TED stage, coaching TED speakers and selected TEDx video teams, editing the first 100 talks for the launch of ted.com, and more.
Mitchnick's work experience spans many genres including narrative drama, documentary, live-performance, music videos, historical montage, video games, animated spots, and TEDTalks.
She holds a BA in Art History from Barnard College/Columbia University, and completed coursework for a double MFA from Cal Arts, where she studied both Experimental Animation and Live Action Filmmaking.
