This is Day 113 of the WGA strike and Day 40 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
National Union Solidarity Day kicked off on Tuesday in New York City with several hundred marchers forming a picket line that stretched two full blocks outside the Manhattan corporate offices of Amazon and HBO. Striking writers and actors saw their ranks bolstered on Tuesday by unionized teachers, nurses, truckers, musicians, retail and hotel workers, and they got vocal encouragement from union chiefs who promised to have their backs.
In what might be a sign of how long the WGA strike seems to have lasted, New York State Senator Jessica Ramos began her remarks with a reference to “the past 100 years” before checking herself to say “100 days,” a correction that drew laughs. “It felt like 100 years,” she clarified before moving on.
No better sound to start the morning than a union chorus: chants, cowbells, and Teamsters horns!

More than 400 SAG-AFTRA members picketed the New York office of advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty on Thursday, six weeks after the union struck the company.
The rally took the form of a mock bake sale to raise funds for Bbh. The union told its 160,000 members on Sept. 20 not to work for the ad agency, which had publicly announced that it had withdrawn from the contract, asserting that the agreement is outdated and accusing the union of being inflexible.
“We are proud performers who are lucky enough to have the protections of our union,” said SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris. “All we want is the ability to support our families and to work under safe conditions that our collective bargaining agreements offer us. We will continue to fight for our right to make a living doing the work we love.”

Here's the trailer for a cool looking skateboarding film called Pretty Sweet, which was directed by Ty Evans, Cory Weincheque and Spike Jonze. Jonze is involved with a very wide variety of projects, and has always broken ground with the inventive skits and filming techniques he has brought to the Girl/Chocolate and Lakai skate videos. The director also picks up his skateboard for the film and shows off his skating skills. The film features the infamously tight-knit Girl and Chocolate crew, including Guy Mariano, Eric Koston, Sean Malto, Marc Johnson, Jesus Fernandez, Vincent Alvarez, Elijah Berle, Justin Eldridge, Brian Anderson and a ton of other skaters.
I love the sport of skateboarding, and I've always enjoyed watching skate videos and documentaries. There's some really cool shots in the trailer -- even when Marc Johnson Doesn't land a trick it still looks buttery. It's definitely worth checking out for anyone looking to see some awesomeness!
