Amy Sark, a talented writer, director, and producer, hails from PEI, a small island off the East Coast of Canada. With a mixed heritage of Mi'kmaq and Irish, she grew up in a rural community outside the Reserve. Amy discovered her passion for writing at an early age and received recognition for her poetry with an honorable mention from The 1993 Milton Acorn Festival in Charlottetown, PEI, under the Stay in School category.
Her journey into the world of television began in 2002, followed closely by her ventures into film. Amy excels in three genres: cultural, comedy, and horror. However, in recent years, she has focused more on documentary storytelling and personal passion projects.
To kickstart her career, Amy completed and showcased her first short film in 2010, thanks to a provincial grant from a local film co-op. Presently, she continues to write while providing assistance in productions within the British Columbia Film, Commercial, and TV industry.
In 2010, Amy was among the sixteen individuals chosen to represent Prince Edward Island at The PEI Screenwriters' Bootcamp, held at the Haviland Club in Charlottetown, PEI.
Amy had the opportunity to collaborate with Sandy Carruthers, the original artist of the Men In Black series, on a new Comic Book Aboriginal Superheroine project through Unlikely Heroes Studios ELSEWHERE Anthology.
As a freelance International Film and TV fixer, Amy works with various production companies in Canada and the US. She previously served as the Atlantic Canada NIMAC representative until she relocated from the Atlantic Region. Additionally, she mentors Aboriginal youth in film, documentaries, and PSA projects and collaborates with Unlikely Heroes Studios ELSEWHERE Anthology. Amy has also contributed her expertise as a jury member for significant Canadian film grants, particularly those focused on Aboriginal and Atlantic Canadian funding. She thoroughly enjoys being a part of the entire creative process.
Amy is not only a talented artist but also an advocate for Aboriginal human rights. She has worked tirelessly to support Aboriginal individuals navigating Atlantic Canada's medical and health care system. Amy was one of the first NIHB Pharmacy Technician covering Atlantic Canada up to British Columbia.
