UK ska band Madness have announced their 13th album, Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie, out November 17th via BMG. As a preview, they’ve shared three songs from the project. Stream the tracks below.
Theatre of the Absurd marks the first album from Madness since 2016’s Can’t Touch Us Now. It was recorded in Cricklewood, London at the beginning of this year, where members Graham “Suggs” McPherson, Mark Bedford, Chris “Chrissy Boy” Foreman, Mike “Barso” Barson, Lee Thompson, and Dan “Woody” Woodgate found harmony alongside engineer and mixer Matt Galsbey.
Tying the 14 songs together is a prologue from actor (and longtime fan) Martin Freeman that runs throughout the album. Pre-orders for Theatre of the Absurd are ongoing. See the artwork and full tracklist below.
“Our thirteenth album (lucky for some) Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie is ready for your ears,” Madness said in a statement.

I’m an ‘80s baby, so I grew up with Margot Kidder as my Lois Lane, even though I’m not sure that I watched those Superman movies until much later in life. But the first time I saw Margot Kidder, the first time I really took her all in, was sometime in the ‘90s, when I watched 1974’s Black Christmas, the Canadian thriller that many consider to be the first true slasher flick.
I loved her from the very first frame.
Even then, at just over 25, Kidder had her own unique charm.

You neophytes may not know it, but the Tardis is a pretty big deal in the world of “Doctor Who.” The device — whose name may or may not be an acronym — has long been used by Doctors to travel through time, probably, and will next be occupied by the 13th Doctor. Before Jodie Whittaker takes residence in that iconic vessel, however, the folks at BBC are treating fans to a preview in which the First Doctor comes upon the Twelfth Doctor’s Tardis.

A petition for American McGee to return to Alice has reached over 15 thousand signatures!
A single person has started a petition to tell EA to let American McGee continue his Alice adventures. You can sign the petition yourself and check out the number climbing higher on the petition page. At the time of writing this the petition was sitting at 15,500 signatures.
The petition has picked up so much traction that even American McGee has posted about it on Twitter, stating -
"Doubt this will change any minds at EA, but what the hell," tweets McGee, "sign the petition for a new Alice game!"
We have obviously been in support of this happening for some time now. We wrote great review of Alice: Madness Returns back when we were another website, and of course rumors of a 3rd Alice title came about and we voiced our support back then too.

Growing up, I was probably just as big a Ghostbusters fan as you. Its off-beat brand of humor and scares is one of the inspirations for my second book, A Boy and His Corpse. The movie was highly influential for me. So when I heard the news that there would be an all-female cast for the remake (reboot?) of the Ghostbusters franchise, I, like pretty much the entire Internet, went crazy. How could they replace Peter, Ray, Winston, and Egon with one part Bridesmaids, and the other half SNL? Madness, sheer madness! But once I got over my little hissy fit and actually thought about it, I realized something. This wasn.t a bad idea. In fact, it might be a pretty good idea. And not just for one reason, but five. So here are five glaringly obvious (once you think about it) reasons why an all-female cast for a...

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d seen everything Bethesda’s frozen masterpiece had to offer being it’s been two whole years since the initial release. But with that being said, we all knew when exploring the game’s vast landscapes that there were bits and pieces we were missing along the way – that overarching feeling that you’d never see everything the world had in it.
Featuring one of the best mission-generating gameplay systems ever put in an RPG, Skyrim has always cobbled together random interactions for the sake of making you visit far off locations you didn’t realise had something worthwhile to offer. However, this time round we’ve put together a list of sights you’ll have to seek out yourself, as they’re the ones that would only make themselves known after every inch of the game has been thoroughly combed over.

It was the last of the 4 UK stadium (Coventry’s Ricoh Arena and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium twice being the other UK stadium venues) gigs to be played live on the current tour, The 2nd Law tour, at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and, apart from a few drunken people trying to ruin it for everyone else that just wanted to have a good time, it was a very good music event all round. Bastille took to the stage first, playing most of their songs from their debut album “Bad Blood”, including the title track “Bad Blood”, latest single “Laura Palmer” and their smash hit single “Pompeii” which they ended the set with.

If celebrity bipolar suffering is beginning to trigger automatic compassion fatigue, that's bad for everyone's mental health
A new book, Strictly Bipolar by Darian Leader, in part examines the "rebranding" of depression, almost as a lifestyle term, which seems rather timely. Certainly, I've come to wonder if the term "bipolar" has become a trigger for automatic compassion fatigue.
A while ago, bipolar sufferer Kerry Katona's drunken meltdown on morning television was sneered at with a viciousness that, at the time, seemed class-based, but now I wouldn't be so sure. These days, I would wonder if it were also her bipolar condition being mocked – just because people are "so tired" of bipolar being "everywhere", or, more specifically, celebrity bipolar sufferers being everywhere.
Only last week, Ronnie O'Sullivan, who suffers from depression, was back playing snooker, and ended up being reprimanded for making an "obscene gesture" at fellow player Judd Trump.

When American Horror Story co-showrunner Ryan Murphy revealed after the conclusion of Season 1 that many of the actors would be returning for season 2, he also explained that the two actors who played the Harmons, Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, would not.
Happily for us, he wasn’t entirely accurate, as we were treated to an appearance by the talented Mr. McDermott during the last episode before the holiday break. Daniel Craig plays a really brilliant James Bond. Incidentally, he also isn't all that funny. Both non-revelations were made abundantly clear when the 'Skyfall' star hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend to promote his third outing as Agent 007 and the film franchise's golden anniversary and, well… kinda stunk. Thankfully, the dependably awesome Muse were on hand to lend the broadcast a little bit of saving grace, performing the wubby "Madness" and propulsive funk rock blast of "Power Station," both from their "it gets better after you listen to it a few times" new album The 2nd Law.

Maybe the SNL gang is still exhausted from its Thursday night Weekend Update specials. Maybe they simply wanted to dust off a few evergreen sketches that ended up working better on the page than on the stage. Whatever the reason, last night’s episode was weirdly inert and un-topical — though host Daniel Craig did try his best to bring some life to the proceedings. The fact that the season’s third episode is already rerunning fake commercials says a lot — even if that commercial is the very funny “Undecided Voters”.

Adam Lambert is set to headline a fundraiser for marriage equality in Maryland, though the concert is being held at the 9:30 Club in D.C. I don't know if the 9:30 Club is still in the same building it was when I used to live in D.C., but it wasn't a huge venue, so get your tickets fast for the September 25th event.
In case you were wondering, scientists have grown functional penises for rabbits in vats and attached them. The aim of the research is helping wounded soldiers, but maybe some day you'll be able to order a new penis in the size you want, and have it transplanted in place of what you were born with.
Disney is looking at a Brett Ratner produced remake of The Flamingo Kid. In this age of the haves and the have-nots, it could be a story that works, but...

Tonight on White Collar: an excuse to get the leads' to lose their shirt.
(Don't mistake that for complaining. I am so not complaining.)
News
Alec Baldwin interviewed Fred Armisen for his podcast and asked for a role on Portlandia. Considering Baldwin's Saturday Night Live performances, I'd say they should consider writing an episode around his various ideas for characters.
In what could turn out to be amazing news, new episodes of the classic Iron Chef will air in Japan starting in October. If it gets dubbed in English like the original run, I will be ecstatic.
Saturday Night Live is adding three new cast members, including two Second City alums.
How does the cast of MTV's The Inbetweeners deal with internet trolls? This is almost as good as that Kidz Bop twitter account.
In case you need to get caught up, Netflix now has the first seasons of Revenge,...

PETA is slamming Rihanna and Lady Gaga over their wearing of fur and animal skins. “Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch. She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at.” Oh, PETA, I think you continue to mistake where that laughter is directed.
You have 11 lives. Use them well.
Possession led a weak holiday box office with $20 million, followed by Lawless with $12 million.

Sam Frears, son of the film director Stephen Frears and literary editor Mary-Kay Wilmers, has the rare degenerative condition familial dysautonomia. This extract from a new book vividly illustrates how he overcomes daily struggles to lead a rich life
Sam Frears walks into the Trojka Russian Tea Rooms in Regent's Park Road, north London, on the arm of my friend, who has recently introduced us. This morning we're having breakfast together for the first time. Sam is 40 years old, but looks younger. His hair is thick brown, his face reminiscent of black-and-white photos from the 1970s. One eye seems partially closed behind his dark-rimmed glasses. He walks slowly but with purpose, leaning into his companion yet somehow independent of him. He puts his hand out to the table and slides his body around to his seat. He says hello and speaks with the husky lightness of a man who has...

The story of "Bridesmaids" was that of a surprise success that really was anything but surprising.
Based on a hilarious script by star Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo (you know her as the flick's freaked-out airplane passenger), the comedy had a strong showing at South by Southwest and Judd Apatow's producer credit to slap on every poster. A modest hit seemed all but guaranteed, but what it became was a pop-culture phenomenon.
Can women be funny? It was the dumb question that every 24-hour media outlet wanted to ask when "Bridesmaids" premiered, but all anyone had to do for an answer was sit down and watch the movie. Yes, women are funny, and there are few clearer examples than "Bridesmaids."
The movie tells the story of Annie Walker (Wiig), a...

This past weekend Lindsay Lohan hosted SNL and donned the locks of the classic Disney character Rapunzel in a clever little skit called The Real Housewives of Disney. It's not the funniest video I've ever seen, but definitely has its moments, especially the always awesome Kristen Wiig as a drunken Cinderella with a probably-gay husband, Prince Charming. Check out the Magical Kingdom Madness below:...

This was Charles Barkley's third time hosting "Saturday Night Live." He's had his memorable moments -- like his Jay Mohr-written 1993 monologue in which he plays basketball against Barney the dinosaur -- and I'm sure that he's fun to be around; but, like most athletes, (even though he is a lot better than most), he leaves something to be desired as a host. Last night was no different.
And in early 2009, I did a story on Bobby Moynihan, which eventually resulted with me watching the Tracy Morgan-hosted episode from the "SNL" writers room. The musical guest that night was Kelly Clarkson. When you watch the show from the writers room, you're allowed to go down into the studio to watch the musical guest. I am not what you would call a "Kelly Clarkson fan," but that night, in person, she was electrifying. But last night, for whatever reason, even Kelly Clarkson was.
