It’s been a year — one in which Barbie pink dominated fashion, the box office and the Oscar red carpet, notably on America Ferrera, who glittered in a custom Atelier Versace sheath, courtesy of stylist Karla Welch. Lest we forget, a side effect of the SAG-AFTRA strike was red carpets being rolled up for four months — but not before Cardi B shut down the Met Ball in Chenpeng and Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt hit the London premiere (an hour early, so the cast could attend before the strike began) in Alexander McQueen, as selected by Jessica Paster. Post-strike, stars like Hunter Schafer, decked out in ethereal Prada as styled by Dara, came back shining more brightly than ever at the Golden Globes. And who doesn’t love a Hollywood icon comeback? The fashion world trumpeted Demi Moore, who wore a Balmain swan as procured by Brad Goreski to the Feud: Capote vs.

It was to be expected that Barry Keoghan, who is nominated for Best male actor in a film – drama for his role in Saltburn, would pull out some big guns on the red carpet tonight. You couldn’t play Oliver Quick onscreen and then turn up in a standard suit. But even for Keoghan there is a lot going on with this Louis Vuitton look, from the complementary but simultaneously clashing patterned suit to the pearls and folkloric-looking brooch. His stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, is to thank – a veteran image maker who has previously dressed Keoghan in everything from leather waistcoats to bold-patterned Burberry.

“All of our scotch whiskey has a color, this one is Swiss Gold,” said the dapper man pouring small drams during Thursday’s tasting for Macallan’s newest offering, The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary release, a series of six bottles — one to signify each decade of the Bond franchise — and priced at a very on the nose $1,007. The evening went down at the historic 1926 Lloyd Wright-designed landmark, the Sowden House, in the heart of Los Feliz, which has been seen in Curtis Hansen’s L.A. When celebrity events were halted because of the coronavirus pandemic last March, Hollywood’s clothing stylists, hairstylists and makeup artists were put out of work. The return of awards shows and virtual events has fostered a fashion resurgence.
In March 2020, stylist Ilaria Urbinati — whose client roster of Hollywood men includes Rami Malek, Dwayne (“the Rock”) Johnson and John Krasinski — was working on numerous press tours. “Rami had ‘Bond’ coming out, the Rock had ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘Red Notice,’” she recalls. “Aaron Paul had movies, then Cannes was coming up, and Venice, and we were in the middle of ‘A Quiet Place II’ press tour. “This Is Us” star Milo Ventimiglia considers his character Jack Pearson to be “the dad we all had, or wanted to have” because “Jack inspires people on how they could possibly live their lives.” The two-time Emmy nominee relates most to Pearson’s simplicity — something evident in his own wardrobe. “Some people take bolder approaches and want to stand out; I like to blend in. I just like to be classy, simple, and timeless,” he says.
2007
Watching awards shows as a child motivated Ventimiglia to work harder so he could be there. “Whenever Whoopi Goldberg would host, at the end of a telecast, she would talk to the kids at home, and I always thought she was talking to me,” he says. Ventimiglia first attended the Emmys with drama series nominee “Heroes.” “I just kind of put myself together,” recalls the California native, who’s typically a “black T-shirt, blue jeans,...

“Game of Thrones” star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau considered Michele Clapton’s costumes to be instrumental in portraying Jaime Lannister. “When Jaime was a prisoner and wearing only rags, the costume tells a story of being broken,” says the Denmark native and prior Emmy nominee. Likewise, “You put on the Lannister armor and it simply exudes power and strength.” The outfits that inspire confidence in his own life come by way of stylist Ilaria Urbinati. “I’ll put on a beautiful suit and will think it looks fine. And then she’ll go in and do the tailoring and I can see it actually looks so much better.”
2015
After scoring four consecutive drama series nods, “Game of Thrones” finally won the Emmy for Season 5. “It was overwhelming because we didn’t expect it,” says Coster-Waldau. “Although they’d won technical awards, the idea that it could win a main award was far-fetched.

The standard black tuxedo men donned to awards shows for decades is quickly becoming an outmoded uniform. From bold colors, to striking textures, to novel silhouettes, men’s awards show looks are now just as fashion-forward as women’s.

Walmart is tapping into the glamour of the Oscars — and its nominees — in a new partnership with the academy that seeks to promote fashion’s connection and importance to the film industry.

Women are joining forces to say “time’s up” in a distinctive style.
The 75th Golden Globes will be unlike any previous awards ceremony in that women from all areas of the entertainment industry are taking a stand against sexual misconduct and harassment in the workplace by opting to wear black on the red carpet.
For this year’s celebration, the females behind the newly-created Time’s Up initiative have encouraged attendees to wear the dark hue as a way of expressing solidarity for the victims, but also changing the narrative on how things are done in the industry.
Following New York Times’ Harvey Weinstein expose and the countless other women who have come forward with their own stories of sexual harassment, the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements mark a new era for Hollywood -- that begins with the 2018 Golden Globes.

Why will stars be wearing black at the Golden Globes? In late December, rumors began circulating that the Golden Globes red carpet would be experiencing a blackout: Many stars were banding together in search of all-black dresses and outfits to make a statement against the epidemic of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and beyond.
At first, there were just hints here and there on social media, but buzz began to build, and on Jan. 2, it was revealed in the New York Times that the coordinated wardrobe effort was part of a bigger, organized campaign called Time’s Up.

As stars prepare for Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, the one sure bet is that the red carpet will be going dark, at least as far as the clothing is concerned. In solidarity with Hollywood’s anti-sexual harassment movement, now officially named Time’s Up, the plan has been for actresses (and the actors who support them) to wear black to send a united message. But as buzz has built around the moment and the movement, the inevitable resistance from some attendees has taken hold as well.
According to a People source, “There’s some backlash to the wear-black mandate.

Earlier this month, it was announced that actresses attending the 2018 Golden Globes would be wearing all black in a show of support for victims of sexual harassment in Hollywood, as well as the growing #MeToo movement worldwide. Now, People has learned that actors will also wear black in an act of solidarity and support. According to an Instagram post from celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinati, all of her male clients will be participating in the protest. The Rock, one of Urbinati’s clients, confirmed the news via commenting on her post.
