The idea of a movie based on a toy has always been shorthand for the complete creative bankruptcy of the film industry—an idea so craven and depressingly capitalistic that it seems to go against the very idea of art.

The Last of Us is making waves. As HBO‘s hottest new show, all eyes are on the series to see what the future holds. Currently, only a few episodes are available on HBO Max, but it’s clear that The Last of Us is set to be one of the biggest shows of the year.
Fans and critics are loving the apocalyptic drama, with many praising the way it adheres closely to the world from the video game it’s based on. While stars like Pedro Pascal and Diego Luna lead the ensemble cast, several actors on The Last of Us also had a hand in creating the video game.

For eight seasons, The Vampire Diaries fans watched the blood-sucking brothers Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore fall and rise. Both redeemed themselves by the end of the series. And though viewers picked their favorites, The Vampire Diaries co-creator Kevin Williamson revealed which Salvatore brother he believes became the better man.
‘The Vampire Diaries’ presented Damon as the bad boy and Stefan as the compassionate, responsible brother Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder played Stefan and Damon Salvatore in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ | Larry Marano/WireImage
The Vampire Diaries has captivated audiences for years, primarily due to its love triangle involving Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and vampire siblings Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Damon is the older brother and initially presents himself as the bad boy. He’s the more impulsive of the two and often makes decisions without considering their deadly consequences.

Drake and Chris Brown have been feuding for years, but they may have finally reached a truce. After sharing a picture together in the studio earlier this week, they appeared in a skit at the 2014 Espy Awards that had them interacting in a surprising way. The sketch centered around La Clippers player Blake Griffin and Drake fighting over whether their upcoming movie should be called Drake and Blake or Blake and Drake. To make a decision, they did increasingly terrible things to each other, from sending creepy "twerk-o-grams" to posing as each other to bad-mouth their fans or make racist remarks. Chris comes in as Drake is about to get an appendectomy, hired by Blake to "operate" on his enemy. He doesn't pull a scalpel during the skit, but Drake is later seen bound and gagged as Chris and Blake "take over" his hosting duties at the award show. Check...

David Arquette is engaged! People reports that the actor proposed to his girlfriend, Christina McLarty, at Mastro's Ocean Club in Malibu, CA. A source close to the couple said, "He wanted his family to be with him when he did it," adding, "they are going to vacation in Aspen to celebrate." David and Christina have been dating on and off since 2011, and in April of this year, they welcomed their first child together, son Charlie. The news comes just a week after David's ex-wife Courteney Cox got engaged to musician Johnny McDaid. Kristen Bell is pregnant! Her rep confirms that Kristen and Dax are "expecting their second child," adding, "The whole family is beyond excited." The Frozen star and her husband, Dax Shepard, who tied the knot in a secret ceremony back in October, are already parents to 1-year-old Lincoln Bell. Before Kristen hosted the Cmt Awards earlier this month, she and Dax hit the beach together during a trip to Maui in March; Kristen stayed covered up while watching her husband swim in the ocean, which could now be read as a sign that she was hiding a growing baby bump. Congrats to Kristen and Dax! - Additional reporting by Lindsay Miller Source: Getty / Imeh Akpanudosen...

One of our favorite things to imagine is what it'd be like to date our favorite celebrities. And with the Academy Awards coming our way this Sunday night, we've been thinking a lot about who we'd like to take with us. You know, if we were invited to participate in a way that didn't involve our couch and our TVs and our drinking game. So, we've made a list of who we think would be the best (and worst) Oscars red carpet dates.
Best: Marion Cotillard

We'll be honest: Marion Cotillard used to intimidate the hell out of us. with her fanciness and French-ness, but recent red carpet appearances have led us to believe that she's kind of like us. She freaked out over Kristen Bell's pregnancy at...

This year's Oscar nominees are pretty straight, especially compared to the last few years where we had a strong showing with The Kids Are Alright, Pariah and Albert Nobbs. Fear not — we've got a way to keep it gay when you watch the ceremony this Sunday, at least as far as the women go.

Queer Quotient: Before she was the hottest new actress in Hollywood, Jessica starred in the indie Jolene where she has a lesbian relationship with Frances Fisher. She also posed for a sensual photo with Kat Dennings in W magazine once.

The actress, 38, and husband Max Handelman recently welcomed their second son, Magnus Mitchell Handelman, Banks announced on her website Wednesday. He joins big brother Felix, 20 months, at home.
“As 2012 winds down and Thanksgiving approaches, I have much for which to be thankful – personal, professional, and Presidential. However, nothing can match the joy and excitement my husband and I felt when we recently welcomed our second baby boy,” the Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect star writes.
“Magnus joins older brother Felix, thus commencing a decade or more of close hand to hand combat.
