Nathan A. Jacobs, Ph.D. is an artist turned scholar, turned writer/director/producer. Jacobs began his career as a fine artist and trained at the Maryland Institute College of Art, one of the top art schools in the United States. Driven by an insatiable interest in big questions, he accumulated degrees in Art, Philosophy, Church History, Systematic Theology, and Historical Theology. During his studies, he paid the bills as a concept artist, creating character designs, storyboards, and pre-visualization animatics for the video game industry until working his way into CGI. After years as a professor of philosophy and religion, publishing award-winning and field-changing books and articles, Jacobs' love for art and ideas converged in filmmaking. Jacobs' first feature film was the college comedy Killing Poe (2016), quickly followed by the feature documentary, Becoming Truly Human (2017). As he started development on his third feature, his work caught the attention of studios and industry insiders, which led to a first-look deal with The Capra Project, LLC, a startup initiated by Lionsgate and its subsidiaries. Though still affiliated with Vanderbilt, Jacobs has left teaching for a career as a writer/director/producer. Under his first-look deal, he has served as a lead writer on an upcoming $50M television series and his third feature film.
