Denis Leary is set to star in the newly greenlit single-camera comedy Going Dutch from creator/showrunner Joel Church-Cooper (Brockmire) and Fox Entertainment Studios. Leary executive produces alongside Jack Leary (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) under their Amoeba production banner and Church-Cooper.
Going Dutch follows an arrogant loudmouth U.S. Army Colonel who, after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, weapons, or tactical purpose.
Instead, it has a Michelin-star level commissary, a top-notch bowling alley, and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a diverse group of underdogs, the colonel tries to reinstall military discipline and professionalism with the...

The comedy pilot “Belated” from creator Peter Tolan and starring Kal Penn is not moving forward at FX, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.
The half-hour series was meant to follow an unexpected intergenerational friendship between Sachin (Penn), a recently out man in his 40s, and Clay (Kaden Kearney), a 17-year-old trans teen, as Sachin and his ex-wife and children attempt to find their new normal. Along with Penn and Kearney, the pilot starred Ellie Taylor, Amir Bageria, and EaeMya ThynGi.
FX did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.
Tolan wrote, directed, and executive produced the “Belated” pilot. Nick Alford of Cloudland also executive produced. FX Productions was the studio. Variety exclusively reported the pilot had been set up at the basic cabler back in October 2021.
The pilot would have brought Tolan back into the FX fold. He previously co-created the hit FX series “Rescue Me” with Denis Leary.

Denis Leary is joining the “Law & Order: Organized Crime” family in a recurring role, TheWrap has confirmed.
The actor is set to play Frank Donnelly, of the NYPD. His character will interact with Det. Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), with Leary’s debut episode airing March 3.
The Leary casting comes a little over a week after the news that Dylan McDermott is leaving “Organized Crime,” (he’s played baddie/mob boss Richard Wheatley) and heading to another Dick Wolf series — “FBI: Most Wanted” on CBS — as Julian McMahon exits that program March 17.
Leary played Tommy Gavin, a New York City firefighter, across seven seasons of the FX series “Rescue Me,” which he created alongside executive producer Peter Tolan. He was nominated twice for lead actor at the Emmys for his role, and once for writing.
Most recently, he starred in “The Moodys” on Fox.

When “The Moodys” first welcomed America into their home, the dysfunctional family thought their visitors were only temporary. Fox billed the Denis Leary family sitcom as a “holiday-themed limited series”; as opposed to a traditional one-night-only Christmas special, “The Moodys” told its story over six episodes and three nights.
In that time, America got comfortable, and Fox renewed “The Moodys” for a second season in July 2020, seven months after the “first season” averaged more live viewers than comedy staples like “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers.” (Season 1 snagged nearly 2 million live viewers over three nights.)
With Season 2 set to premiere April 1, Fox released a new trailer for “The Moodys” (which you can watch below), while the cast and creators took part in Fox’s TCA panel Wednesday afternoon to tease what’s in store for their first non-holiday adventures.
“What Rob [Greenberg], Bob [Fisher], and Tad [Quill] have created has so many elements of other people’s lives,...

In a TV world where some services offer up brand new TV shows every week, it’s all the more impressive when a network can maintain quality with only a handful of new series each calendar year. One such channel? FX, which for the better part of the last 20 years, has been a place that’s helped push the boundaries of what’s allowed and what’s successful on TV.
Particularly since 2002 (the year when two of the shows in this collection premiered), FX has become a force for compelling dramas, surprising comedies, and a few shows that proudly defy falling into either category. Not all their efforts have been critical or audience successes (for every “The Shield,” there’s bound to be an “Anger Management”), but there’s a certain consistency to the FX banner that’s come without having a particular house style.
So which of these shows are most worthy of praise?...
