- Kyle Andrew Nichols was born in the city of Albany, NY on December 22, 1991. Kyle got his start in the film industry in 2011 while attending Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY as a Boom Mic Operator for fellow filmmaker and friend Andrew Balog.
In February of 2011, Kyle founded Apocalypto Studios (now called Apocalypto Media as of August 2022) to partner with Balog's production company Logs Leisure Entertainment at that time. From 2011-2014, Kyle hosted a series of YouTube videos surrounding updates on film projects he was working on with Balog for people who followed their progress. In April 2014, he changed the format of his videos to involve different filmmaking topics titled, "Film Discussion Thursday's", that were uploaded to the Apocalypto Media YouTube channel every Thursday.
While producing this show, Kyle announced his first short film Slenderman (2014), based on the creepy pasta with the same name, would be released via YouTube and streaming platform, Reelhouse on Halloween in 2014. Kyle has stated that his first individually produced short film was a fun experience, as he was able to work with family and friends to bring the short film to life.
A few years later, Kyle worked on documentary shorts As the Leaves Fall (2015), a 2 minute short film spotlighting Autumn in Upstate NY, and The Big Apple (2017) depicting life and exploration in Times Square and NYC.
