After 12 weeks, “Project Runway” season 18 is down to its final four: Victoria Cocieru, Sergio Guadarrama, Geoffrey Mac and Nancy Volpe-Beringer. But we had to survive a lot of terrible clothes in order to get there. There were 13 looks so bad this season that the judges had to send their designers packing. A couple of unfortunate designers were eliminated twice. But which was the worst of the worst? Click above to take a look back at every ousted look, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
SEEVictoria Cocieru’s ‘Project Runway’ Designs, Ranked Worst to Best
A couple of designs in the season premiere episode, “Blast Off,” were so bad that the judges sent two people home right away: Jenn Charkow and Asma Bibi. I’ll be honest, though — I think that was way too early for a double elimination. One or both of them might have...

‘Project Runway’: Three strikes and he’s out for Sergio Guadarrama? Fans think he’s on borrowed time
For the third week in a row we’re predicting elimination for “Project Runway” designer Sergio Guadarrama. But is that just wishful thinking? Our odds are based on the combined predictions of “Runway” fans who give us their forecasts every week here in our predictions center, but fans have also let us know how little they like Guadarrama’s attitude. Are they just hope-dicting him to leave the competition? Maybe not.
As of this writing Guadarrama gets leading odds of 21/10 of being sent packing, and though we were wrong about him being ousted for the last two weeks, we weren’t far off. The judges thought he was one of the worst designers in “Sew 80’s,” leading his fellow designers astray in a team challenge, and he responded so poorly that he told the judges he didn’t care what they thought. Then he landed at the bottom again in “There is Only One You,...

Our readers thought Sergio Guadarrama might be a goner in “Sew 80’s,” the week-five challenge of “Project Runway,” and I thought that was just wishful thinking, but he did in fact get his first ever low score from the judges. And he didn’t take it well — at all. So will he spiral out of the competition entirely in week six?
Yes, according to the combined predictions of “Runway” fans who give us their forecasts every week here in our predictions center. He gets leading odds of 9/4 to be sent packing. But it started so well for him. He showed signs of arrogance from the very first challenge, “Blast Off,” proclaiming that he was already at the same level as judge Brandon Maxwell and mentor Christian Siriano. But he got a high score in that challenge, and then he managed to win the unconventional materials challenge in “Sleigh the Runway...

First, the good news about Last week’s “Project Runway” fifth episode of the season. ’80s icon Cyndi Lauper was an inspired choice as a guest judge and was quite invested in the outcome of the challenge as she got out of her chair to take a closer look at the sewing quality in several outfits. Lauper also was quite forthright about whether the two teams of designers were to make a cohesive runway collection that captured the punk-pop spirit of the decade’s fashions when she rose to the top of the music charts.
But as Gold Derby senior editors Daniel Montgomery and Susan Wloszczyna discuss in the video recap above, most of the designers weren’t — as Lauper’s biggest hit says — having much fun. “Let’s just get to the elimination. Melanie Trygg was sent home after weeks of technically being a contestant on the show. She seemed like a very,...

“Project Runway” mentor and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano was quite happy with many of the ’80s punk-inspired designs in honor one of the decade’s musical icons Cyndi Lauper, who was quite invested in her role as a guest judge on Season 18’s fifth episode titled, “Sew ’80s.”
But he was not so gleeful over the outfit by eliminated designer Melanie Trygg, whose minimalist aesthetic clashed with the over-the-topness of punk fashion. “It was a bad combo. Just like Bruce Willis and Demi Moore — all sad.”
Of course, he gets Cyndi herself to sit down and chat during a new addition to the Bravo reality experience — the “Project Runway After Show” (watch video below). The “She-Bop” singer sits down and immediately tells a joke: “A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, “Hey!” The horse says, ‘Buddy, you read my mind.” Christian also shares a groaner: “Two peanuts walk down the street.

The title of the fifth episode of “Project Runway” 18 is “She’s Sew Unusual,” which can only mean one of two things. Either last year’s runner-up Hester Sunshine is back or Cyndi Lauper is in the house. Yes, the gal who wants to have fun is a guest judge this week as she strikes one of her signature poses on the runway. “Hello, dolls,” she says to the contestants while Nancy Volpe-Beringer goes all fan girl.
Alas, the challenge that is facing the remaining 11 designers sounds like the opposite of fun for them, judging from their unhappy faces. As host Karlie Kloss reveals, “You’ll work in two teams to create mini collections inspired by Cyndi Lauper’s iconic 1980s style.” Any Project Runway loyalist knows that, time after time, cooperation is usually in short supply during this sorts of team tasks.

Hey, “Project Runway” fans. Did you know that for Season 18, Bravo posts an after-show after each episode airs that allows the dryly humorous mentor and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano a chance to muse about what unfolded on the show? Well, now you do.
Now that matters are getting interesting three episodes in and we have acquainted ourselves with most of the remaining designers — I admit I had no idea until this week’s episode that there was a contestant named Melanie Trygg on the show — we are going to do recaps of this entertaining addition to your PR experience.
Christian’s chit-chat segment this week focuses on the latest contestant to head out the door — spritely Houston native Alan Gonzalez, 24, (seen above) who from the beginning was high-strung breath of fresh air, whether bemoaning having to pair up with another designer for a challenge or breezily taking a macaron or...

There have been three eliminations after two weeks of “Project Runway,” and they’ve all been women: Asma Bibi and Jenn Charkow were both sent home in “Blast Off,” and then Veronica Sheaffer in “Cats of the Urban Jungle.” But the show will send home its first male designer next according to the combined predictions of fans who have made their forecasts here in our predictions center. Who do you think is going home tonight?
Geoffrey Mac has had a rough go of it from the very beginning: flustered when buying fabrics at Mood, second-guessing himself in the workroom. In the season premiere he had one of the judges’ favorite looks despite his own doubts. But in “Cats” he was in the bottom two, compromising on a caftan idea and throwing in a pair of pants that didn’t fit the episode’s streetwear theme. Despite all that, though, he...
