For the second straight summer, the NBCUniversal service will increase its subscription prices.
Since its launch on July 15, 2020, NBCUniversal’s Peacock has slowly, but steadily built itself into a solid streaming service, in part, by keeping its prices low. Over the course of its nearly four years, it has only increased its subscription price once, when it raised its monthly rates $1 and $2 respectively in honor of its third anniversary last July. Now, it appears that NBCU is making something of an annual tradition of the practice as on Monday, the company announced that it would again be raising prices in July.
Key Details: For the second straight July, Peacock is set to increase its prices on both subscription tiers. Over the course of one year, the price for the service’s ad-supported tier will increase from $4.99 to $7.99 and its ad-free option from $9.99 to $13.99. The platform will also stream every single event from the 2024 Paris Olympics,...

Exclusive: The Talk may be wrapping up after 15 seasons in December, but Executive Producer Rob Crabbe and his team are not going down without a fight.
For the first time in its history, The Talk will invite guest comedians on the show to yuk it up for the crowd and cameras. “Stand Up At The Talk” will launch April 26 and return each Friday.
Hosts Sheryl Underwood, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Amanda Kloots will move off stage so the set can be transformed into a comedy club. The featured standup will then perform a 5-minute set for the audience.
“I am excited to bring two things I love together — standup comedy and The Talk,” Underwood, who’s a comedian herself, tells Deadline. “This is the first time The Talk has done a standup series, but it won’t be the last. See you every Friday!”

The Talk has been renewed for Season 15, but that season will be its last. CBS has announced that the show is being axed. The Talk‘s final season will be a shorter one, according to Variety. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios prexy David Stapf released a joint statement about the show’s impending end, reflecting on its 14 years on the air (it first debuted on CBS in October 2010). “The Talk broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format. “The Talk” is going silent. CBS is ending the long-running daytime chat show, which will get an abbreviated final season (its 15th) this fall, before signing off for good with what it’s calling a “celebratory sendoff” in December.
Rumors of the show’s end have been swirling for months, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning. The news comes as CBS and the NAACP are developing a new daytime soap opera under their content partnership, “The Gates,” a partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. “The Gates,” which “follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community,” is seen as a potential replacement for “The Talk.”

The relationship between Peacock and the Olympics goes back to the launch event for the NBCUniversal streaming service.
In January 2020, with the world mostly oblivious of what was coming just a few months later, NBC executives touted live streams from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as a key selling point for Peacock’s launch.
Of course, the 2020 Olympics would be pushed to 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, but Peacock has carried on, adding more live streams and more live programming at every subsequent Olympics since. In that context, the 2024 Paris Olympics mark a critical juncture for Peacock, with more live streaming coverage (Peacock will have everything, with original streaming shows and simulcasts of the primetime shows), and a bet that the platform is ready, finally, for its Olympic moment at the same time that the games will host its first real post-pandemic showing.

NBC is setting up another reality summer.
The network has unveiled premiere dates for its summer slate including America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Password, The Wall and Weakest Link.
It’s much the same look as last year, although without the likes of Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge, Dick Wolf’s LA Fire and Rescue and Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam.
Deadline understands that Hot Wheels, which comes from Endemol Shine North America, Workerbee TV and Mattel Television, and docuseries LA Fire and Rescue, have both been canceled. The latter premiered its first season on May 30, 2023 and the former premiered on June 21, 2023.
In terms of That’s My Jam, Deadline revealed that production had been paused in February, understood to be for celebrity scheduling reasons.
New episodes of Weakest Link, essentially season four of the revived series, will kick off the slate on Tuesday April 2 at 9pm, an hour earlier than last year,...

With CBS in “accelerated development” on “The Gates,” which, if picked up to series, would become the network’s first new daytime soap opera since launching “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987, many in the entertainment industry have questioned what that means for “The Talk,” the daytime talk show that replaced the long-running drama series “As The World Turns,” which concluded its run after more than 54 years on the network in September 2010.
Currently in its 14th season, “The Talk” ranks as the third most watched daytime talk show, behind only ABC’s “The View” and syndicated talker “Live with Kelly and Mark.” Despite that, the show is currently down double digits among Total Viewers and the key Women 18-49 sales demographic, often ranking at the bottom half in both categories among all daytime broadcast shows and has remained CBS’ least-watched and lowest-rated daytime series overall since it premiered in October 2010.

It may have looked like a big transition for Rob Crabbe — jumping from late night where he ran The Late Late Show with James Corden for eight years to executive producing his first daytime show, The Talk — but the veteran showrunner was actually more anxious about the live aspect of his new gig at CBS.

With daytime, you get fired out of a cannon at 11 a.

Thirteen years after CBS’s “The Talk” aired its first episode, the daytime TV staple is still going strong. Created by actress Sara Gilbert, the popular series began as a motherhood-centric discussion program featuring six female co-hosts (aged 35-58) with entertainment backgrounds. Throughout its 14 seasons, the show has evolved to cover a broader scope of topics and has seen 16 full-time hosts come and go, with the current lineup including the first two male panelists. Scroll through our chronological photo gallery to find out more about all of these presenters and their extensive careers.
When “The Talk” debuted in 2010, its hosting panel consisted of Gilbert, Julie Chen Moonves, Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, and remote participant Marissa Jaret Winokur. Following Osbourne’s departure in 2021, no original stars remained. Today, longest-serving host Sheryl Underwood is flanked by Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell, Akbar Gbajabiamila, and Natalie Morales.

Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and other music stars served as major sources of inspiration behind the Halloween costumes displayed on morning and daytime talk shows this year.
Three shows featured hosts dressing up as Swift, with Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, Live‘s Kelly Ripa and The Talk‘s Amanda Kloots all dressing as the superstar singer-songwriter, with the latter two also passing out friendship bracelets in an ode to Swift’s hit Eras tour.
Live With Kelly and Mark took the Swift inspiration one step further, dubbing their annual Halloween extravaganza The Eras Show as they looked back through different decades of pop culture and of Live‘s own onscreen Halloween celebrations. While Ripa and Consuelos kicked things off with their take on the Barbie movie, they doled out friendship bracelets in an homage to Swift and spoke about the Eras tour inspiration for their show.

CBS’s The Talk is returning for Season 14 on Monday, October 9. The show’s panel remains the same as Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood are all returning but there will be some changes to the show under the guidance of new executive producer Rob Crabbe, formerly of The Late Late Show With James Corden. TV Insider chatted with Crabbe about what will be different about the show and what will remain the same. The Writers Guild of America strike is over, but actors in SAG-AFTRA still don’t have a new deal. Therefore, while familiar faces may pop up on the show, they’ll be promoting non-acting gigs. Case in point: Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: Picard) will be on Monday’s episode to promote his memoir, Making It So. Read on for the changes coming to The Talk. How did your coming to The Talk come about?...

The Talk was just one of several talk shows that delayed returns due to the writers’ strike, which is over, with the WGA’s ratification vote for the new deal with the AMPTP set for October 2-9. Now, after initially saying it would be returning sooner, there’s a premiere date for Season 14. The daytime show shared the news on its Instagram alongside a photo of its hosts, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Sheryl Underwood, Jerry O’Connell, and Natalie Morales (above). The Talk Season 14 premiere will now air on Monday, October 9 at 2/1c on CBS. There’s no word yet on the guest lineup for that episode or the first week back. The Talk initially got back to work on its new season last month, with a premiere date originally set for September 18. That came after The Drew Barrymore Show resumed production (with Drew Barrymore facing backlash for that decision) ...

The Talk is finally coming back.
The CBS daytime talk show has set its season premiere – returning on Monday October 9.
It comes after much back and forth for the show, as a result of the writers strike and the fallout that involved a slew of daytime shows including The Drew Barrymore Show, which had planned to return before the writers had a deal.
Deadline revealed on September 9 that The Talk was planning to return on September 18.
However, a week later, after WGA picketers had targeted the show outside CBS Radford and Barrymore had been shamed into postponing her own return, The Talk decided to postpone its comeback.

“The Talk” has locked in its Season 14 return date following the resolution of the WGA strike, which prompted the show to delay its original premiere.
The CBS daytime talk show is now slated to return Monday, Oct. 9, and will resume production alongside fellow talkers like “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” which began filming Monday, Oct. 2, as well as “The Drew Barrymore,” which is also expected to pick up production in October.
At the onset of the WGA strike in early May, “The Talk,” which is covered by a WGA agreement, shared it would be going on hiatus, noting that pre-recorded episodes of the daytime talk show would air in the meantime. However, “The Talk” drew headlines when it began filming during the week of Sept. 11 without its writers the double Hollywood strike as it aimed for its original Sept. 18 launch.
