When Paramount+ brought Trek back to television in September 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery's double-decker premiere event, it broke ground on a road that would see the rebirth of the Trek franchise.
Six years later, Star Trek: Discovery has saved the galaxy multiple times; traveled through the mycelial network, to the Mirror Universe and back, forward in time nine hundred years, and beyond the edge of the known universe; and spawned the highly successful spin-off Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
In March, Paramount+ announced the fifth season will be the USS Discovery's final mission. We've gathered all the intel on what it'll entail, who's on board, and when you can expect to buckle up and hold on as Michael Burnham and her crew let 'er fly one last time.

Astonishing Tales of Terror: Rocktapussy! opens in 1957 when a strange opening in the wall of a mine attracts the attention of a trio of miners. They crawl through to explore but find way more than they expected. The only survivor closes the opening with some convenient dynamite.
In the present Hunter Hazelton has broken a story of corruption in city hall. She had to go undercover as a stripper to do it, which doesn’t seem to have gone over well with her colleagues. Or her father for that matter. “Next time you go undercover, can you be a bit more covered?”
However when a technology demonstration at that same mine awakens the creature we saw in the prologue, what she’s wearing will be the least of her worries,...

In his latest video, Kev takes to the booth to review Control, a tight claustrophobic sci-fi thriller starring Sara Mitich, George Tchortov and Evie Loiselle, which recently screened at Frightfest (check out our written review here).
With a fragmented memory and no clear way out, Eileen (Sara Mitich; Star Trek: Discovery) is forced to complete tasks by an unseen entity whilst trapped in a mysterious room, or else her daughter will be killed. However, nothing is truly as it seems, and very quickly, a much greater plot is unveiled – with Eileen at the centre.
Directed by James Mark, Control is set for a UK release on digital platforms on September 26th, courtesy of Signature Entertainment.

Saban Films will be giving director James Mark’s supernatural sci-fi thriller Control a theatrical release on September 23rd, with a VOD release to follow just four days later, on September 27th. In anticipation of those dates, a trailer has been released online and can be seen in the embed above.
Starring Sara Mitich, who is best known for playing Nilsson on Star Trek: Discovery, Control was directed by Mark from a screenplay he wrote with Matthew Nayman. The film, which is described as a “tense mashup between Cube and Lucy” tells the following story:
A mother locked inside of a stark room is tasked by an unknown voice to complete increasingly difficult challenges if she wants to save her daughter’s life. As the frequency and intensity of the tasks threaten to overwhelm her, she must piece together half-remembered chapters of her life before imprisonment if she wants to secure her freedom,...

"Why are you doing this?!" Signature Ent. in the UK has released another official UK trailer for this indie sci-fi supernatural thriller titled Control, from filmmaker James Mark. It's opening the very same week in the UK as in the US - at the end of September. The film is a "tense mashup between Cube and Lucy" as the main girl has some kind of superpowers. This actually looks pretty damn cool. Locked in a mysterious room and commanded by an unknown voice, Eileen must complete several tasks in order to save her daughter's life. As the tests and the stakes intensify to the point where succeeding seems impossible, Eileen discovers unexpected skills. Armed with new confidence and powerful force, alone against an army, she plans a daring escape. Actress Sara Mitich (from "Star Trek: Discovery") stars as Eileen, along with George Tchortov and Evie Loiselle. As a sci-fi geek,...

The first task sounds simple. “Move the pencil.”
The pencil sits on a table at the other side of the room. Eileen (Sara Mitich) sits on the chair where she has just regained consciousness after a dream about being with her daughter on a sandy beach. She’s completely disorientated. Looking around, she can see that the room has strangely covered walls, no windows and no door. The voice comes from a speaker in the ceiling. On the wall behind the table is a screen on which small squares are slowly changing colour. She has no memory of how she got here. The pencil is the last thing on her mind.
“If you do not complete the task within the allotted time,” the voice says, in the same light customer service monotone, “your daughter will die.”
What is going on here? It’s obvious that nobody is really going to kill her daughter over a.

The new design for the Klingons in “Star Trek: Discovery” has been polarizing with fans. Some are intrigued by the new take on the bellicose alien species, while others decry what they perceived to be flouting canon. On the most recent “After Trek,” lead creature designer Neville Page and prosthetics/special FX makeup effects department head Glenn Hetrick explained that Bryan Fuller, who has since departed the show, was a huge influence on what the revamped Klingons look like.
“The biggest thing we did was we removed the hair,” Page said, which allowed the prosthetics department to reveal “detail on the back of the head… and the cool stuff underneath.”

Page also revealed the signature ridges contain extra sensory receptors, and the spinal column grows up the back of the head, which is full of nerve endings.
