Whenever you stumble upon a Chicago Fire debate online, there’s a very high likelihood it has to do with the show’s female characters. For the most part, it’s about how the writers can’t create compelling and realistic female leads that won’t come off as annoying, entitled, and frustrating, and most fans seem to share this opinion.
But as usual, there’s a huge “but” involved that most Chicago Fire fans ignore.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Svu Season 24 Episode 19, “Bend the Law.”] When Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) was younger, he and a friend were involved in a double homicide; the now-detective had been unable to pull the trigger, but his friend could and covered for him with the cartel. Now, on Law & Order: Svu, Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) orders Velasco to bring Chilly (Joseph Castillo-Midyett) to justice. Previously, Velasco was forced to reveal that, when he was younger, he and a friend, Chilly, were sent to a school for hitmen; the only way to leave was in a body bag.
