“Salem’s Lot” Will Skip Theaters to Stream Exclusively
The long-in-development film adaptation of Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot” is being made, after all, but will no longer premiere in theaters, opting for a Max-exclusive streaming premiere this year with an official date to be announced later.
Originally intended for a September 2022 theatrical release, New Line Cinema pushed the film to 2023 citing the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown for delays before removing it from its release calendar entirely. King’s 1975 novel was first adapted for the screen with CBS’s 1979 miniseries starring David Soul.
“Salem’s Lot” is written and directed by Gary Dauberman (“Annabelle”). The new version will see Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) return to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot looking to come up with an idea for a new novel but discovers his hometown’s residents are becoming vampires.
The ensemble also features Alfre Woodard, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Spencer Treat Clark,...

Dawn Wilkinson, who has partly directed the third season of drama series ‘Step Up’, has shared that the show features stories which are socially relevant but at the same time, they are very entertaining and engage the audience on an emotional plane.
Commenting on the storyline of the show Dawn, who has directed five of the season’s ten episodes said: “I love the way the characters are written, and Holly (showrunner) has created storylines where there are parallels between the characters. The stories are socially relevant but still entertaining and that engages an audience; makes them want to watch and makes them feel for the characters.”
Based on the cult film, ‘Step Up’, this series follows the drama, scandalous romance, and rivalries told through the intersection of the worlds of music and dance within a highly sought-after performance empire.
“I’ve always felt like that is the best way of storytelling.

Starz has canceled the “Step Up’ series after just one season on the network, Variety has confirmed.
Produced by Lionsgate TV, the first two seasons of the show were released on YouTube. Starz revived the show in 2020 after it was left in limbo when YouTube took a step back from producing original scripted content. At the time, news of the move seemed a sensible transition considering that Lionsgate is Starz’ parent company.
According to the series description, the musical drama followed the students and faculty of High Water, “an incubator for new artistic talent where founder Sage Odom (Ne-yo) and his partner Collette Jones (Christina Milian) struggle to maintain their empire.”
In Season 3, viewers witnessed Sage, Colette and their relationship challenged as they faced criminal charges, financial ruin, and powerful political enemies who wanted to destroy Sage and High Water. The Season 3 finale, which will now serve as the series finale,...

“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” is getting a new cut for its home entertainment release, and the extended version of the horror film gives a peek behind the scenes at the masterminds who designed the escape room death traps.
The “Escape Room” sequel will be available for digital release and on DVD and Blu-Ray with an additional 25 minutes of footage on Sept. 21. Among the changes are an alternate beginning and ending that hint at the villains behind the curtain of the Minos Escape Rooms.
TheWrap has an exclusive first look at the additional scene that reveals a brand-new subplot that didn’t make the theatrical cut. Here we meet one of the apparent higher-ups at Minos as he converses with his game master — and prisoner — Claire, as she unwittingly helps them design a series of traps that can kill the hero, Zoey.

Escape Room: Tournament of champions is a sequel to the first movie, directed by Adam Robitel and released on June 16, 2021. The most exciting thing about this movie is that the title already gives the audience an obvious intention about what the characters should immediately do: Escape from a Room. If you loved the first movie, which was pretty unique and exciting to watch, you would surely like this sequel. It stars Logan Miller(Ben) and Taylor Russell(Zoey), who survived the first Escape Room. The other casts include Carlito Olivero(Theo), Indya Moore(Brianna), Holland Roden (Rachel), Thomas Cocquerel (Nathan), and Deborah

The company behind the so-called “escape rooms” of the Escape Room movies is called Minos. King Minos, the Cretan of myth, fed children to his minotaur as a matter of rite. So it’s no wonder that a company taking his name would be heavy on sacrifice, low on ethics, and altogether suspicious; it’s no wonder these games aren’t much fun.

Director Adam Robitel reunites with surviving cast members Taylor Russell and Logan Miller for this sequel to 2019’s puzzles-and-deathtraps franchise-starter. Unfortunately, the film fails to learn any of the lessons from the previous movie and opts for a passable retread rather than bringing anything new to the table.
After a “previously-on-Escape Room” recap, the film picks up not long after the events of the first film, with survivors Zoe (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) desperate to expose Minos, the shadowy company behind the escape room deathtraps. The only one of several same-titled movies in recent years to make a significant commercial dent, Adam Robitel’s 2019 “Escape Room” proved a considerable sleeper hit, making back many times its modest $9 million budget. Ergo “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions,” which brings back the first edition’s director, surviving characters and other elements in another primarily South Africa-shot U.S. production.
This follow-up immediately announces itself as aiming no higher than strict franchise “more of the same”-ness, beginning with a recap of prior events and ending with a de facto kickoff for No. 3. . But with breathless pacing its only real distinction, and zero attention to clever intricacies, character development or background mythology (evil corporation Minos remains a faceless off-screen blank), “Escape Room” is boxing itself into being one of the most charmless, least intriguing big-screen action franchises going.

As a huge fan of the first Escape Room, I had a really great time with the sequel, Tournament of Champions, which reunites survivors Zoey (Taylor Russell) and Ben (Logan Miller) directly after they survived the deadly games of the mysterious Minos organization. Instead of running, the duo decides to head to New York in search of answers and in hopes of bringing those at Minos to justice. But before they get too far in their investigative efforts, Ben and Zoey find themselves unexpectedly trapped in a new game, but this time not only are the rules different, but they’re also playing alongside other survivors of Minos’ previous escape rooms, too. And the clock is ticking, as they’re forced to decode new clues, avoid perilous traps, and withstand Minos’ tortuous games in this “Tournament of Champions.”

If you ever wondered what would happen if Walt Disney was also the Jigsaw Killer, then a) you are a very interesting person, and b) these “Escape Room” movies were made for you.
“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions,” the second film in Adam Robitel’s PG-13 horror franchise, solidifies the series’ mission statement to show off a deadly and insidiously complicated amusement park, where the theming is heavy-handed and all the attractions will kill you if you don’t interact with them exactly the way the designers intended.
These aren’t movies about protagonists undergoing a meaningful transformation. They are extended YouTube walkthroughs of the coolest places you’d never, ever want to go.
The original “Escape Room” saw a group of people drawn into a game constructed by the Minos Corporation. Each room they encountered had a different visual theme, and only by solving tricky clues could the heroes escape with their lives.

"It's happening again..." Sony Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, the sequel to the horror Escape Room from 2019. And this isn't even the only "escape room" horror either! Tournament of Champions is the new sequel to the box office hit psychological thriller that terrified audiences. In this one, six people unwittingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive... and discovering that they’ve all played the game before. Of course. Starring Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Thomas Cocquerel, Holland Roden, Indya Moore, Carlito Olivero, and Jay Erving. Uh, this actually looks pretty damn good! This might be better than the first one. I dig the concept of realistic locations turning into game rooms, and there's some cool references in this. Is that lighthouse a nod to Annihilation? Are the lasers a nod to Cube?...

Updated: Escape Room 2 will now open on July 16 instead of next year, where it had been scheduled for the first weekend of 2022. Sony already has the Kay Cannon-directed Camila Cabello musical Cinderella on July 16. For now, that movie will stay there as Sony monitors overseas markets.
There’s a chance that both Escape Room 2 and Cinderella will stay on that date given that they are targeted at different demographics. Warner Bros also has its HBO Max release Space Jam 2 on July 16 as does Searchlight with its Sundance horror acquisition The Night House.
Previously, January 25: Sony/Screen Gems Escape Room 2 will now open on Jan. 7, 2022.
The sequel to the $155M-plus horror film was recently taken off the theatrical release calendar. Previously Sony had the movie set to open on Dec. 30, 2020, then prior to that, Aug. 14, and then even before that date, April 17.

“Escape Room 2” has moved up its release to July.
The sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller will now debut on July 16, 2021, nearly six months earlier than its planned release date of Jan. 7, 2022.
With the box office beginning to revive after the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s possible that “Escape Room 2” moved up in the schedule to compete within the summer blockbuster timeframe. The first “Escape Room” was a hit at the box office, earning $155 million. “Godzilla vs. Kong” recently raked in the largest box office gross during the pandemic with $31 million, and this past weekend featured a fierce box office battle between “Mortal Kombat” and “Demon Slayer,” signaling to the industry that moviegoers are certainly eager to return to theaters.
The first “Escape Room” film follows six strangers who are brought together to participate in an escape room game, but soon learn they are pawns in a puzzle that could lead to life or death.

Starz has recast the role of Tal Baker for its “Step Up” TV series. The cable channel said Tuesday that Petrice Jones, the actor who played the part when the show’s first two seasons aired on YouTube, will be replaced by Keiynan Lonsdale.
Jones took a series regular role on a different show, so he was not available for the new season of “Step Up,” which was picked up by Starz in May 2020 after the show, formerly known as “Step Up: High Water,” was canceled at YouTube, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Starz is moving ahead with its planned revival of the Step Up TV series.
The premium cabler has now announced that it has recast the role of Colette, which the late Naya Rivera originated.
Rivera died last July following a tragic drowning incident at Lake Piru.
She was 33.
Actress and singer Christina Milian has been tapped to succeed Rivera on the third season of the series.
"Naya's death was a terrible loss to our world that we will, frankly, never stop mourning," Step Up series creator and executive producer Holly Sorensen said in a statement Monday.
